Hi all!

First off I've got some bad news to give you. Ryan will no longer be reviewing for CriticallyTouched.com and will not be finishing his Angel reviews. This was a decision he made himself. He was apologetic about not keeping his commitment to me, but his schedule has simply become too busy.

So, with that out of the way it's time to look forward and move on. In light of the fact that I can't stand review sites that are incomplete, I can't just leave the site 'as is.' On the other hand, I have no desire or time myself to finish all of the remaining reviews.

Rick (the one who wrote the supplementary review of Buffy's "Lies My Parents Told Me"), however, came up with a great compromise. His idea is to ask this community for help in filling in the gaps! As of right now I am looking for members of this community who feel they can offer up individual reviews of the quality we've come to expect. Rick has already tentatively committed to reviewing a number of the remaining episodes himself. In light of his contribution, I will also be reviewing select Angel episodes remaining as well! My hope is that with the combined intelligence and tenacity of this community we can get that site completed while maintaining CriticallyTouched's standard of quality in the process.

Are you game?

.......

If so, then read on! Haha. The following is the current list of remaining Angel episodes along with who has won the job of reviewing (if any yet). Requests will only be considered for episodes that have not yet been taken. This list will be updated as new people are committed. Also note that I reserve the right to not post your review if I feel it doesn't meet the standard of quality of the network. Before you start writing anything, we're going to have an e-mail (or forum) chat first to make sure everyone's clear. :)

To nominate yourself for a review, simply reply to this thread or e-mail me at mikejer(at)criticallytouched(dot)com with why you want to review the episode and, if possible (I stress: not required), a sample of your writing.

Final note: the time table on the completion of these is when it's done. With that said, I hope to see some of the first reviews popping up by September. They will not be coming out in any order, simply when they're finished.

Hi all! I must thank Mike for taking me up on this suggestion. I think this is a project that, if done correctly, will really enrich the creative spirit behind CriticallyTouched.com. There's an immense, often prohibitive burden that comes with reviewing an entire series. Opening the remainder of the show up to a host of different authors allows members of our community to contribute their analysis for a particular episode of interest to them. We may lose the continuity between reviews to which we have become accustomed, but it is my hope that the final product will more than address this shortfall by highlighting the multitude of insights that I'm sure exist in our community.

I should also note that I am open to negotiations. If there is an episode that I am slated to review that you would like to take on instead, let me know and we'll see if we can work something out. I accept both bribes and political patronage. Just don't try and take "Not Fade Away" from me. I will cut you.

Cheers,

Rick

A very good idea. I'm glad to see the reviews won't just be left hanging.

I'm tempted to offer help with an episode or two, but I've only seen the latter seasons of Angel once which may make it hard to get the necessary perspective for the reviews. Still... let me think about it.

If I did help I'd want to review Lineage most of all. I'm pretty confident I can temper my love for the episode sufficiently to offer a balanced view. ;-)

An update: I have Michelle down for "Harm's Way" and Kumar down for "Why We Fight," with both of them on a review once with an option for more if all goes well basis. I'm happy to see this thing moving forward! :D

Iguana, just let me know if you get serious about reviewing "Lineage" or any other remaining episode. Although I want balanced reviews, if you've got love for the episode I would encourage you to show it! That's the "Touched" part of Critically Touched. ;)

mike, I am so happy to see that you´re gonna review Home. The ep is just brilliant, in my eyes and I cannot wait for your reviews. But no pressure. :D
btw, how are you gonna do with the season review? Are you gonna write it alone or are you gonna get help?

Right now I'm focusing entirely on the episode reviews. Once they're all done I'll probably look for help in a similar way for the season reviews, except instead of looking for episode contributors, I'll likely look for character contributers. I will probably put together the structure of the review myself, such as the Intro, Overview, Pros, Cons, and Conclusion. Although I'll try to get help for the Pros and Cons too.

Iguana's followed up on his tentative desire and is now committed to take on "Lineage."

A reader, Patrick (from Germany I think), has expressed interest in tackling "Supersymmetry," "Salvage," and "The Magic Bullet." I've put him down for all three. If his first review is solid, then he'll do the others as well.

I've been really pleased with the level in interest in this so far! Thanks everyone!! :D

Patrick's already sent me his review of "Supersymmetry," which I just published now. Go get it here.

Thanks Patrick!

I've put a reader named Derek down for "Spin the Bottle" and "That Girl in Question." If one review works out he'll get the second. If not I'll re-open the episodes for others.

Patrick, who wrote the ACP review for "Supersymmetry," has come through with another one! Check out his take on "Salvage".

Thanks again, Patrick!

I've put a reader named Nick down for "Apocalypse, Nowish" (4x07), "Orpheus" (4x15), "You're Welcome" (5x12), and "Power Play" (5x21). If one review works out he'll get the others. If not, I'll re-open the episodes for others.

Only 11 unreserved episodes remaining (unless some re-open)! Get 'em while they're open! ;)

Marion (a.k.a. DarthMarion) is set to tackle "Awakening." If it works out well there may be more. :)

Nick has informed he won't be reviewing the episodes he had claimed. So those four episodes are now available again.

Hey guys...umm, can I offer my services for the episode Conviction (5x01)?

I'm not 100% confident In my abilities though - I worry I may miss out on some intrinsic or deeply rooted theme which is of some importance.

If I can I'll give it a shot, and Mike if you wanna read it over and see what you think?
