"End of Days" | View Comments2 | nathan.taurusDec 16, 2012 -The Guardian woman talking about the history of the scythe was supposed to be informative but it just left me even more confused. -For seven years Buffy has essentially been passing by that pyramid tomb and all the while the Guardian has been waiting. Yeah, I can but that. Oh wait, no I can't. -Angel's return just because it is the series finale cheapened it. I am happy to see him again but it wasn't needed. -Kaylee has "shiny" so Spike has "shirty". "Lessons" | View Comments3 | nathan.taurusDec 14, 2012 I still love the ending. One of the best for the series no doubt. As a con I have to add Buffy's response to the dead boy. After telling him she likes the hot dead guys she adds bitchingly "I mean, I'm sure you had a great personality" with an eye roll. She really didn't need to add that part as she came off so mean. "Intervention" | View Comments4 | nathan.taurusOct 29, 2012 By creating the Buffybot, Spike probably saved Dawn from Glory. Without the Buffybot wanting to protect Spike the minions would have followed Xander and Anya back home and noticed they talk a lot about Dawn. So the Buffybot unintentionally helped Dawn. Spike got the crap beaten out of him but it saved Dawn for later. -I still always love the moment Giles turns to the Buffybot and she smiles wide. I bet both Sarah and Tony cracked up right after. "Family" | View Comments5 | nathan.taurusOct 25, 2012 Foreshadowing: Willow waves off Tara's spell that almost led to everyones death. In 'Triangle' she continues her 'who cares' attitude to magic. Willow: "Wait! Go? She just did a spell that went wrong it was just a mistake.-" *I'm adding the Bronze musical montage birthday scene to my previous pros. "Chosen" | View Comments6 | nathan.taurusJun 16, 2012 It took Joss Whedon 144 episodes to do so many cliches and for some reason he chose the series finale for it. Buffy gets stabbed and her mortal wound somehow disappears when she is mocked by The First. Fath is overrun by Turok-Han and passes the scythe along yet somehow knocks them off after a while. Rona throws the scythe back to Buffy once she is better. C'mon, Joss! You don't have to put all your characters in danger just for the sake of it only for them to win their battles. (well, he does do it later in 'Serenity') I still have no idea how Buffy ran faster than a speeding bus with a stomach wound but, I can let some things slide because it is the finale. "Storyteller" | View Comments7 | nathan.taurusJan 2, 2012 Just remembered some things: -Buffy says Andrew was the first person to feed the Seal blood. WRONG. Technically it was Jonathon. -Buffy also says that Andrew was the one who opened the Seal. WRONG. Spike's blood opened it in 'Never Leave Me'. Jonathon's blood wasn't enough. "Chosen" | View Comments8 | nathan.taurusDec 29, 2011 -Dawn finally understanding the pierced tongue reference was similar to Willow's delayed reaction to the song 'I Touch Myself' in 'Lie to Me'. -The first and final time Angel meets Buffy he gives her jewellery in the form of a necklace for protection. In 'Welcome to the Hellmouth' he gives her a crucifix necklace and in 'Chosen' he gives her a "possibly scrubbing bubbles" one. -Angel being knocked unconcious just so he cannot fight Caleb was the only way to go. Or just have Caleb be killed in 'End of Days'. -Caleb's line for the series, "Are you ready to finish this...bitch?!" Like Spike adding the last part. -I finally have deducted points for this episode. I always had it higher because it was the finale but now I have to count the stupid things: Buffy fake-out injury, Faith seemingly dying just so she can pass the scythe to Rona, The plot of entering the Hellmouth for a 20 against 1 million, etc. "End of Days" | View Comments9 | nathan.taurusDec 29, 2011 x factor: It is laid on pretty think at the end of this season but the theme has been around since the beginning. In 'Out of Mind, Out of Sight' in season 1, Cordelia tells Buffy that she feels alone even when she is surrounded by her friends because they don't really know her. In 'Earshot' Buffy tells Jonathon about everybody hiding their pain and really being alone to themselves. Even "Firely" had the line about "everybody dies alone." The writers use it too much this season, though. -Giles pointing out that he should have known about the scythe. True. Just like the Seal the audience should have had word on it in books seasons ago so the evidence was there. -"A burden we can't share." Wait for it. "Touched" | View Comments10 | nathan.taurusDec 29, 2011 x factor: I didn't mind the speech here. Although, Xander's one in 'The Freshman' was fantastic. -Spike can track Buffy down almost 24 hours after she has left. Pretty cool. -This episode was the second to feature three main character sex scenes. The first was 'The Harsh Light of Day'. -This was also the final episode to feature a sex scene. -The tongue stud! That's all. "Empty Places" | View Comments11 | nathan.taurusDec 29, 2011 -Seeing as how the Turok-Han are so easy to kill in 'Chosen' the writers should not have had Anya bring up the fight Buffy had with one in 'Bring on the Night'. Like driving wood through solid steel!! Hearing this only three episodes from the end is bad. -One of the cops with Faith was the actor who played Billy in the self titled "Angel" episode. -Faith showed she is still not right by saying she actually "wanted" to kill Buffy for punching her. Wow! -Dawn telling Buffy she cannot stay in her own home! The vision of Joyce in 'Conversations with Dead People' saw this coming. She knew a sister would turn on the other, she was just wrong about which sister was the betrayer. "Dirty Girls" | View Comments12 | nathan.taurusDec 25, 2011 -Too much lighting in the cemetery. Night time is supposed to be dark. -Faith notes that Buffy and herself were Potentials. They never were. Buffy was called into being the Slayer while on the steps of her high school and Faith was made a Slayer after Kendra died. Season 7 retconned so much of Slayer origin. "Lies My Parents Told Me" | View Comments13 | nathan.taurusDec 25, 2011 x factor: I wouldn't say Giles betrayed Buffy. He did something that was in character and that he believed was the right thing to do. He believed Buffy was in the wrong and wanted to save her. Robin gave him the chance to do what he thought needed to be done so he accepted. The core of the series was the relationship between the Scoobies which are the main three. Giles was less of a factor during the final two seasons. I find both Giles and Buffy's responses valid and in character. Giles has never liked Spike and often wondered why he was never dusted. -I love the teaser with Spike talking with Wood while Buffy is in the background continually punching her vamp. -(According to commentary)Spike's mums name is Anne so their can be an Oedipus thing going on. They even liked how the woman looked like an older Sarah. -Robin and Giles actually saving Spike's life unintentionally. "Storyteller" | View Comments14 | nathan.taurusDec 25, 2011 Mash: You're right. Principal Wood was great and he at least lasted the entire season. -Andrew and Jonathon's nightmare in Mexico features the future. It shows the Turok-Han chasing Buffy during the middle episodes. -I still love the ambiguity of Buffy's response to the question of the tears not working. -Buffy still should have stabbed him. It should have been blood. As Spike said before, "it's always got to be blood." An ancient evil seal doesn't need tears. Like 'The Gift', the blood starts it and the blood stops it. A little stab in the stomach and Andrew's fine and the seal is deactivated. "Get it Done" | View Comments15 | nathan.taurusDec 23, 2011 -The demon dust still knocked Buffy up a little...as she said. Even though it didn't stay it would have been something to have her stronger because of the smoke going through her and she could still be fully human. -Finally seeing Spike back again. -After Anya makes it clear she doesn't care much, Buffy should have thrown her out. -Agree that the Turok-Han look unbeatable compared to 'Chosen'. "The Killer in Me" | View Comments16 | nathan.taurusDec 23, 2011 -I don't like how Kennedy talks to Willow like they have been together for years. How many times have they watched 'Moulin Rouge' together that she would know she "always" stops it at chapter 32. They are forcing us to care for this relationship even though it is only really beginning here. The other relationships progress in a natural way. -How did they find Giles? They know the location not the exact spot. -Amy using the Knox line, "Oops." This episode may have lost some points from what I gave it before. "Potential" | View Comments17 | nathan.taurusDec 23, 2011 -I quite liked Buffy training the Potentials. However, there is no way in Hellmouth that any of the girls are 15. -It would have been worse for Dawn and maybe better plotwise if the Bringers had of killed Amanda in front of her in the classroom. Buffy saves Dawn and Dawn becomes stronger because of watching Amanda die. -I hated Willow being a bitch towards Dawn while the latter is upstairs. Too cold. "Showtime" | View Comments18 | nathan.taurusDec 19, 2011 Baljox's Eye: "The eye sees not the future, only the truth of the now and before." Anya: "Yes, we've all got that. It's called MEMORY!." -Maybe the Turok-Han doesn't need an invitation to enter a house because it has no humanity. Vampires are human vessels and it is custom for humans to wait for consent to enter a house. The uber-vamp is not tainted with a human body. My guess anyway. -Anya said maybe it would have been better if Buffy had stayed dead. Many people agree with this statement. I don't. I noticed after many watches that Buffy kills the Bringers at the station, even the one running away. Other seasons she would have just let him go but now she is more of a leader and isn't about mercy as much. "Bring on the Night" | View Comments19 | nathan.taurusDec 19, 2011 -If the Slayer line is gone, the world will still survive. We don't need a Slayer as one Slayer in one location is nothing compared to demons/vampires throughout the world. -Giles said without a Slayer the Hellmouth has no guardian. The Hellmouth had no guardian until 1996 so this statement is useless. -The Turok-Han is supposed to be really strong, but having it not get crushed by the tubing is absolutely stupid. If it was that powerful it would kill the Scoobies and Potentials easy. -Buffy's ending speech still makes me proud. "Sleeper" | View Comments20 | nathan.taurusDec 18, 2011 This is actually a good episode as many of the first part of Season Seven eps have been. As was mentioned, the incredible acting by James Marsters in the basement scene. The way he looked at Buffy and then down at the stake and then slowly moved across and opened his coat was fantastic. As was the tear falling just afterwards. I just wish the season could keep going the same way. "Conversations with Dead People" | View Comments21 | nathan.taurusDec 18, 2011 Fun Fact: Even though it seems the episode takes place over a few hours, it actually takes place over eight hours. The start is 8:01 pm and 'Sleeper' begins at 4:30 am. Buffy came over right after staking Holden so this episodes time frame is very surprising given what we see. Again, poor Jonathon. He really had strange coloured blood. "All the Way" | View Comments22 | nathan.taurusDec 16, 2011 Vampires letting down tires. They are so evil they would even scare Angelus. I wish the episode was about the creepy old man being a killer. Young guy goes into the kitchen. Dawn realises the headless toy. Young guy gets killed and then some other stuff happens. Just another random vampire episode in what should have been about halloween. Creatures of the night are supposed to take the night off and the writers should have made sure it stayed that way. "Villains" | View Comments23 | nathan.taurusDec 10, 2011 Good: -The smile on Warrens' face quickly turns to fear. At Racks' place the same happens. I love seeing him freaking out. -Willow saving Buffy's life. -Dawn saying what so many people were thinking. -Xander's car is purple! Could be pinkish-purple. -The locator spell is poetic. Great if we had it in real life. -Spike: "Did you do the finger paintings...nice." -The ending. Warren's line to Will, "Oh, shut up!" Yeah, that really helps your case. Flaying? Holy crap, Willow! If Season 1 Will could meet Dark Willow. Bad: -The silly drug/magic metaphor still being used this late in the season. -Willow stopping the bus. First she speeds it up and then stops it just in time. Passengers would be everywhere if it actually happened. -A previous episode where we see or hear about the Warren-bot would have been good to be able to call back on. "Seeing Red" | View Comments24 | nathan.taurusDec 10, 2011 'SPOILERS' Good: -Willow and Tara together. They kiss three different times this episode just to make the ending worse. Dawn all excited to see them again. -Fantastic acting by James and Sarah in the bathroom scene. Such a difficult one to shoot. -Warren pushing Jonathon through the barrier without even knowing he would survive. What an arse. -The fight between Warren and Buffy. Creepy Andrew shouting, "Kill her! Kill her!" -Jonathon saving Buffy or telling her how to defeat Warren. -Andrew trying for the cool escape but failing. -The ending. Bad: -Just having Willow and Tara kiss to make the ending worse. -Tara was standing so far from the window I doubt she could see Xander. -Tara and Willow didn't even move even though they would have heard Warren shouting and probably went to the window to look. -The scene with Buffy and Dawn smiling at Willow and Tara in the living room is eerily similar to the happy scene in 'I Was Made to Love You' when the girls smile at Joyce feeling better. "Normal Again" | View Comments25 | nathan.taurusDec 10, 2011 serenissima: With Dawn it is just bad writing. After season 5 she wasn't a main plot point and Joss kept her acting like a child which pissed Michelle and the audience off to no end. I really enjoyed this episode. One of the favourites from the sixth season. I like how just before Buffy hits Xander with the pan he talks about his old love for her, "I mean, I get it. Been part of the Buffy obsession.-" Also, when Buffy is holding Dawn down, the shot of Buffy was the same as when Giles was with Ben in 'The Gift' with the hands waving around. Of course, Buffy's face was more creepy than Giles'. "Life Serial" | View Comments26 | nathan.taurusNov 30, 2011 I still love the Buffy-drunk-and-cute moments. If the Trio can distort time and do magic then if would be no problem in killing Buffy if they wanted to. So I feel (still) that the magic time speeding parts were really over done and unbelievable. It leads to drunk Buffy falling over when she kicks Jonathon and rescuing kittens so it doesn't lose a huge amount but, it does lose a lot. "-which by the way is stupid currency." "Flooded" | View Comments27 | nathan.taurusNov 30, 2011 Dave: In Willows defence she has been getting more arrogant since season 4. Not really a defence but she has been coming to this point for a fair while. This is one of my favourite episodes of season 6. I love the way Buffy jokes about her death. Plus, fire = pretty. Dawn getting water smashed in her face was hilarious and the introduction of the Trio. Sarah also looked good in this episode before mid-season when she gets scarily skinny. "Full copper repipe! No! More! Full copper repipe!" "After Life" | View Comments28 | nathan.taurusNov 30, 2011 On another watch I realised that perhaps it would have been a better plot if it was Buffy's hate manifested on the group. I got this thought while the bedroom scene with Willow and Tara was showing. That while Buffy is asleep her anger towards the gang manifests and terrorises them. This would give a clue to the end of the episode when Buffy reveals the truth to Spike. "I Was Made to Love You" | View Comments29 | nathan.taurusNov 24, 2011 joaquin: Good point. Not sure. Buffy: I don't know. I was standing right here. I didn't see Price Charming. I didn't even see a goodnight kiss...it all looked pretty tame to me. Joyce: I suppose by your standards it could seem pretty...oh dear. Buffy: What!? Joyce: I left my bra in his car. Buffy: Mother! Joyce: I'm joking. Buffy: Good God that's horrible, don't do that. Joyce: I left it in the restaurant. Buffy: No more. No more. No more. (Buffy blocks her ears and runs upstairs) Joyce: On the desert cart! Buffy: I can't hear you. "Forever" | View Comments30 | nathan.taurusNov 24, 2011 Unfortunately my opinion of 'Forever' has not changed. I still don't like Willow helping Dawn with the magic book. Even if she didn't think it would be dangerous she still knew that Dawn wanted to try a spell and she gives her the starting point anyway. In the cave scene I actually felt more sorry for the Gora demon. Someone comes in and takes your eggs and stabs you while you were just resting. The final scene is fantastic and I always wonder what Joyce was would have looked like. It is played as if she would have been a zombie but there was a small chance she could have been Joyce. "The Body" | View Comments31 | nathan.taurusNov 24, 2011 It has been over a year and I have watched 'The Body' again and I can say my opinion of it is better than before. It took quite a few viewings over many years but some of the things that I didn't like before I am okay with now. I also think the vampire was added because the series is a fantasy/supernatural one so each episode needs something of the weird variety and one vampire at the end would fill the quota and be extremely distressing at the same time. Nicholas Brendon is good in the dorm room scene and has his eyes welling up. This is the first time in the series that he looks really upset and I always enjoy Willow bringing him back by offering to fight. I find these two make the scene. I will also add the natural looking Buffy as she looks out the back door into the sunlight. They didn't make her look glamorous with make-up and lighting but real. "Fool for Love" | View Comments32 | nathan.taurusNov 17, 2011 I just realised on another viewing that the snobbish woman at the party in 1880 says William the Bloody is Williams nickname, as unwanted as it would be to William. She claims it is because of his "bloody awful poetry" but it doesn't really make sense calling him that because of poems. Being a ruthless vampire would be a better reason to call him William the Bloody. "New Moon Rising" | View Comments33 | nathan.taurusNov 9, 2011 Sean: I get it now. I'm not that computer or tech smart so I just guessed. Dan: I'm usually a pretty good speller, not the best at grammar as my commas sometimes show. Formerly:) On another re-watch I began thinking that as this episode marks the beginning of the Willow/Tara relationship maybe the kitten has a hidden meaning. Tara asks Willow if she likes cats and Willow responds that she is more of a dog person but that she is not death to all cats. In my warped mind it is Tara seeing if Willow likes women as another name for cats is also used for the anatomy of women. So either it is a hidden meaning or I have way to much time on my hands. "This Year's Girl" | View Comments34 | nathan.taurusNov 9, 2011 Elizabeth: I only noticed the camera man on a recent viewing. He is holding a steady-cam (I guess) to get the shot of the fall down the stairs from the side and it's easier to get the stunt women to do the fall once and get the shot from two angles. This can lead to catching the other guy in frame. Strange editing didn't catch it. Dave: Oh, the leather pants. Well she has been a bad girl................as she said. "Doomed" | View Comments35 | nathan.taurusNov 2, 2011 The Good: -Spike. The shirt. The stake. The fighting. The ending. -Riley's codename of 'lilac'. -Returning to the high school. Good effects to show the ruins. -Riley and his great excuse for being at the school. The Bad: -Noxon, Fury, Espenson and Whedon all had a hand in this one. Shocking. -As mentioned, the awful dubbing sound of Giles. -The demon stops the door from closing at the party even though he isn't leaving yet. -No Seal of Danzalthar anywhere to be seen at the Hellmouth opening. -Buffy and her extreme acceleration while free falling. Maybe you're right, Rob. "Hush" | View Comments36 | nathan.taurusNov 2, 2011 More cons to my list. -The article in the paper says '15 year old girl murdered, heart missing'(along that line). The article is actually about a 17-year old who had a near death experience at a mall. -Olivia gulps air with sound when the Gentlemen pass by the window. Sure people would be scared and not understand what is happening, but they wouldn't walk the streets at a snails pace. Most would be at home frightened. Some would do the slow walk. The scene would make sense if it was a week later but not less than 24 hours. Okay, I'll add another pro. -Tara is introduced. -It's still better than 'Doomed'. "The Harsh Light of Day" | View Comments37 | nathan.taurusOct 26, 2011 I still think this episode is great but must add another criticism anyway. Buffy informs us that she and Parker have been seeing a lot of each other for a week. I cannot believe that someone would lie and play with someone for a whole week just to dump them once they have slept with the person. Parker started out nice and what he said to Buffy in the episode was true, unfortunately, he becomes another victim of bad writing against men for the sake of hurting Buffy. Glad to see Spike back...finally. But I could have gone a long stretch without ever seeing Harmony again. "Choices" | View Comments38 | nathan.taurusOct 24, 2011 Still think Sarah Michelle in the blue dress is really pretty. -If Willow had of escaped after staking the vampire then the Scoobies could have destroyed the Box of Gavrok which means the Mayor could not have had that pre-ascension dinner for his organs to shift. Instead she stays and gets very little information at all (Anya has more insight soon) which causes the Box to be returned to the Mayor and a policeman killed by one of the spiders. Plot-wise she needed to stay, logic-wise she needed to escape. "Lover's Walk" | View Comments39 | nathan.taurusOct 17, 2011 On another re-re-re-watch I realised Oz comes off really heavy-handed when he gives Willow the Pez dispenser. When Willow says that she has nothing to give him he responds, "oh, you do", and then smirks and walks away. So he gives her the Pez dispenser to try and speed up her decision to sleep with him. Then strangely, when she wants to in 'Amends', he doesn't feel like it. This is out of character for Oz. Oz is subtle. At least they didn't get him to say "I gave you a gift so get in the closet and give me mine." Cordelia's fake-out death is still one of the top 'fooled you' moments in television. Great. "Out of Mind, Out of Sight" | View Comments40 | Nathan.TaurusDec 10, 2010 Good: -Snyder saying there are no dead students.....this week. -Cordelia telling it from the heart was a nice scene. -Buffy telling Cordelia to shut up. -Buffy jabbing Xander in the ribs and him staring down at her for mocking Cordy. -A scene popping up in Season 7. Bad: -Clea Duvall(Marcie)just doesn't do the part as well as could be done. -Just not an interesting episode. Good point to it, just not as good(IMO) as 'Nightmares'. "Nightmares" | View Comments41 | Nathan.TaurusDec 10, 2010 Good: -Xander freaked about being almost naked. He did look good until they made him stop working out. He wasn't allowed to compete with Angel. -Willow laughing at Xander's fear of the clown until it attacks them. -The Masters line "A dream is a wish your heart makes." -Buffy as a vampire. Still hot. Imagine her with vamp Willow and Xander as a threesome of death. -Giles' bad-ass look at the coach while holding him. Bad: -Bad editing. The clubman hits at Buffy, ad break, the clubman hits at Buffy. The Future:(spoiler)Adam is similar to The Master in teaching vamps not to be afraid of the cross. "Becoming Pt. 2" | View Comments42 | Nathan.TaurusNov 27, 2010 Juliette: I thought of that too and it seems to be one of the goofs of the series. When the gypsies cursed the soul it was their doing. When Willow returned it she didn't have any such spell so somehow the curse was still attached to the soul for those 100-odd years as Angel. "Angel" | View Comments43 | Nathan.TaurusNov 27, 2010 -Buffy saying that she let Angel into her home after she knew what he was. Wait: huh? Thankyou for adding that dialogue to the cons list. This episode was a nice one that unfortunatley has Darla in it firing about five clips from the same handgun. Buffy also touches Angel without his shirt on and doesn't feel the cool skin. I did like Xander's reaction to Angel in Buffy's room. And Buffy responding to thinking Angel read her diary. A good episode, but not my favourite of Season 1. Still some issues. "Listening to Fear" | View Comments44 | Nathan.TaurusNov 18, 2010 teo: Dawn was brave in doing what she did, I agree. Good: * Xander talking about the cars/planets of Mercury and Saturn. * Meteors and You. * Buffy shocked at her mother saying the buttons at cross-walks are not connected to anything. * The alien was pretty freaky. * The nice ending. Bad: * How did no one see the alien on the ceiling at the hospital. How did the alien hitch a ride with Buffy. How did the alien get inside the Summers' home. * How could Spike stay in the basement the entire time Buffy cried, Joyce was attacked and Buffy was attacked. He would have helped long before he was found. "Shadow" | View Comments45 | Nathan.TaurusNov 18, 2010 A hit and miss episode but much better than the following one. Good: * No one knowing who Glory is and she comes in, buys stuff and leaves and then Giles continues his speech. * Anya calling Giles stupid. Bad: * All the pandering to Glory. * Spike is standing in direct sunlight while in Buffy's room and nothing happens. In 'Normal Again' he is afraid of the streaming light. * Spike is way too tanned for a vampire. * The giant snake moves too quick that Buffy would never catch it. "The Pack" | View Comments46 | Nathan.TaurusNov 18, 2010 Good: * The monkey on the rock. * The Bronze scene. Notice how confident Xander goes close to the girl then walks away and she still watches him. The hyena was a little like the Toth spell. * Xander and the possessed slo-mo 'Job's Eyes' stair scene. I liked it. * Buffy and Xander together. * Giles in the start of his getting-knocked-out phase. Bad: * The same hyena laugh played over and over. * Willow kicks the legs of the Xander dummy to close the cage door. Proves it's a dummy. * The zookeeper's lines sometimes out of sync with mouth. This episode was one of my favourite for the first season. It had problems but it had a good mythical story. "Who Are You?" | View Comments47 | Nathan.TaurusNov 5, 2010 What didn't make sense was the Bronze scene with Spike and Faith(Buffy). Spike tells her he has a chip and says his name to which Faith responds. "Spike? William the Bloody with a chip in his head.." Faith never was into study and I doubt Giles ever told her about Spike and Dru during Season 3, so how did she know he went by 'William the Bloody'? Also, how did she know what a chip was or that it was in his head? She doesn't know of The Initiative. "This Year's Girl" | View Comments48 | Nathan.TaurusNov 5, 2010 The letters were to Buffy. She hadn't visited to collect them. The biggest thing I don't understand in this episode is that Faith punches Joyce when she opens the door. After Faith getting to know Joyce a bit in Season 3 I cannot see her actually hitting her. It would make it easier to get her upstairs but Faith knows she can overpower Joyce so it seems out of character, for me anyway. Also, the hospital is really run down and dark. Even if it were the coma ward there would be more nurses and visitors couldn't just walk in. A big downside was Faith talking between hits. It seemed forced and uncomfortable. Although, trashing the house yet again is a big plus. Foreshadowing: During the campus confrontation, Buffy says "If I was you." and Faith responds "Well you're not me." Yet. "No Place Like Home" | View Comments49 | Nathan.TaurusOct 29, 2010 Good: * Buffy talking to the guard about her fellow ravers and bun cake. * Dawn spilling that Riley is weak and kitten-y. Not kitten-ish. Much more manly. * The whole trance sequence with strange effects adding to the scene. * Michelle playing a creepy teen with the mis-direction for the audience. She is creepy. * 'Not-be-named' sneeking up on Buffy and Buffy getting smashed. * The final scene was perfect. Bad: * Way too long part of 'Not-be-named' freaking out. It was kind of painful to watch. * How did Buffy get to the hospital? She cannot drive in a non-spazzy way. * Buffy fell 3 stories on her back onto concrete and an hour later she's fine. She fell too far. Agree with other posts that the Buffy/Giles wizard outfit is over analysed. Not everything has a meaning. Fantastic episode that sets up Dawn and her origin. "Family" | View Comments50 | Nathan.TaurusOct 29, 2010 On a re-watch I found in the Magic Box that Xander calls Buffy "sweety". Hmmmm. * Xander and Riley mock-fighting was great. They are like brothers. * Tara and her insect reflection joke. "It's still not funny." * Giles calling Buffy and Xander both profoundly stupid for not knowing what Tara would like even though they are in a magic shop. Bad: * When Dawn mocks drinking alcohol even Buffy and Xander put there drinks down. They would also have to have a mark on their hands but don't think they do. * Willow and Tara floating at the end. A bit too far. Trivia:(SPOILERS) Tara does a spell because she is frightened over what the gang might see of her. Willow does a similar one in 'Same Time, Same Place' and a disappearance occurs. "The Yoko Factor" | View Comments51 | nathan.taurusSep 11, 2010 The biggest problem I have with this episode is that Willow is considering taking drama (which she does) even though she has mentioned numerous times she suffers from stage fright. This is a pretty big character flip. Giles: "You'll never train with me anymore. He's going to kick your arse." Buffy: "Giles!" Giles: "Sorry, was that a bit honest. Terribly sorry." "Restless" | View Comments52 | nathan.taurusSep 11, 2010 The Good: - The return of Oz. Even though it was only in Willow's dream. Seeing Willow circa S1 again:) - 'Death of a Salesman' is different. - The true strangeness of dreams by having a man with cheese slices in all the dreams. - Xander running through the sets to show the viewer what connects to what. - Anya and Giles dubbed in French. - Giles singing again. - Riley: "Let's build a fort." Adam: "I'll get some pillows." Hilarious. Coffee makers that think. Bad/Weird: - Xander has no romantic feelings toward Willow yet dreams of a threesome with her and Tara. Facts: The dreams go for around 34:42 in total broken down as, Willow - 8.47 Xander - 11.30 Giles - 5.38 Buffy - 8.47 "Primeval" | View Comments53 | nathan.taurusSep 11, 2010 -The very hectic battle in the Initiative was very well done with the explosions and gunfire. -I also enjoyed the Buffy vs Adam fight (even though his machine gun was a bit hokey) and how he gets more worried as the fight continues. -The General puts only two armed guards against four people, including the Slayer. Weird! Of course the episode could have been better, but it's the end of the Initiative so, yay! "New Moon Rising" | View Comments54 | nathan.taurusSep 6, 2010 Enea: The three attackers were demons, not werewolves. They all look similar because they're people in costume. Good: Oz returns. And somehow he looks younger than when he left. Oz and Willow together again. And he has to say "Pretty much now" again. Adam helping the Scoobies and Riley helping Oz. "-Formally dangerous and currently annoying." Another heartbreaking Oz and Willow break up. Bad: The computer monitor that Anya was using was still on during the blackout. Oz: It was stupid to think you'd just be waiting. Willow: I was waiting...I feel like some part of me will always be waiting for you...like if I'm old and blue haired and I turn the corner in Istanbul and there you are, I won't be surprised...'cause, you're with me, you know? Oz: I know....right now is not that time I guess. "Where the Wild Things Are" | View Comments55 | nathan.taurusSep 6, 2010 Rewatching this episode again I realised this is where the viewer sees that Anya will never be fully human. She was a demon causing mass carnage for 1120 years and in this episode she was still newly human again. She does gain a small percent of humanity in 'End of Days', but she would need centuries before she fully assimilated into being a nice productive human and forgot the memories of her demon days. The alleged gripe she has with Xander over nothing proves this and to a huger extent the 'Entropy' episode. Even if Anya had another 70 years as a human she could never break away from her 1120 years as a demon. Giles singing, Spike talking himself out of helping, evil christian woman are the good parts. "Superstar" | View Comments56 | nathan.taurusSep 5, 2010 Trivia: As has been partly mentioned above. The spell changes everyones memory as the Monks do in Season 5, Willow does to Tara in Season 6 and Connor on "Angel". I really liked how the intro was changed to feature Jonathan in most of it. Jonathan and Buffy. Finally Sarah is taller than someone......just. Jonathan's 'Storyteller'. A better all round character than Andy. The talk of shrimp. Hilarious. "Who Are You?" | View Comments57 | nathan.taurusSep 5, 2010 Good: the title: 'Eliza Dushku as Buffy' Faith staring into the mirror. It is like watching Sarah Michelle in her own bathroom without much makeup on. Buffy and Spike at the Bronze. Faith with Riley channeling Catherine from 'Cruel Intentions'. Eliza nailing the Buffy characteristics in the scene with Giles. "What's a stevedore?" Didn't Work: Buffy in the leather. She can't pull it off as well as the fuller Eliza. Still hot though. Faith reverted back to 'This Year's Girl' when she went to LA. "The I in Team" | View Comments58 | nathan.taurusSep 3, 2010 In an accidental way, Buffy gets back at Willow for the party in 'Dead Man's Party'. In that episode their was supposed to be a quite dinner with just the Scoobies and Will, Oz, Xander and Cordelia invited everyone. So here, Willow is upset about Buffy inviting the cammandos to the Bronze when she thought it was just to be the four friends. In the words of Cordelia: "Oooh, these grapes are sour." The instrumental music as Buffy and Riley fight and have sex adds to the scene then it just goes wierd when Walsh is shown looking at them. And then of course the phone rings as soon as Buffy asks what 314 is. I enjoyed this episode more than the next one. On a side note: 3.14 is 'Bad Girls'. "Hush" | View Comments59 | nathan.taurusSep 2, 2010 This is my main comment for this episode. Good: Giles: "It could just be the eternal mystery that is your brain." The Gentlemen are the creepiest villains yet. And so polite. The exposition scene of Giles'. Riley's face as he slo-mo smashes the thing he thinks Buffy wants smashed, only not. Bad: People crying. Without a voice there shouldn't be sound, yet there is. The entire town falls apart in a couple of hours. That's a really, really depressed town. The car is crashed into a fire hydrant. How? Why? How? Three excellent questions. Pedestrians standing and walking the streets like zombies. C'mon, Joss! Don't put in on that thick. Tara not really attempting to get away from the Gentlemen and injuring Willow. "Pangs" | View Comments60 | nathan.taurusSep 2, 2010 I like the speech Spike gives about the truth of battles and that Giles agrees with Spike in this matter. Spike tied to the chair with the arrows in him always gets a laugh. Bad: The injuries Buffy had during the battle disappear at the end of the episode. "The Initiative" | View Comments61 | nathan.taurusSep 2, 2010 Good: Riley paunching out Parker for bad mouthing Buffy. A vague disclaimer is nobodies friend. Buffy and Xander leave Riley together holding hands. Spike and Willow together again. Buffy v Riley in the dorm hallway. Bad: Spike is on the bed, yet the goggles show Spike near Willow at the window just before he throws Will on the bed. The editing is off by a fair bit. Riley would have been able to see it was Buffy at the very end while fighting her. Trivia: Willow is listening to the same song when she invites Riley and Spike in. "Wild at Heart" | View Comments62 | nathan.taurusSep 2, 2010 Good: Giles at the Bronze and Buffy thinking there must be an emergency. 7 annual minutes. Sounds about right. The scene where Willow finds Oz and Veruca. Oz raises his voice. The heartbreaking ending. Bad: Willow wanted to fool around with Oz, yet later said she didn't have much time. The car doesn't even attempt to brake or swerve or slow down to avoid Willow. Not realistic. "Beer Bad" | View Comments63 | nathan.taurusSep 2, 2010 Good: "Nothing can defeat the penis!" Oz mesmerised by Veruca singing and Willow concerned. Willow misunderstanding drinking beer with group sex. Xander: "Well, I've just cut you off." Buffy: "...Did it hurt?" Cave Slayer is hilarious. Spinning on the chair and sniffing Xander and threatening Giles. Buffy knocks out Parker...twice. Bad: Everyone yelling their order to Xander at the same time. When does this ever happen. "Fear, Itself" | View Comments64 | nathan.taurusAug 30, 2010 Good: Giles in a sombrero. Oz is God. I always had that suspicion and now it's confirmed. Anya in a bunny rabbit costume. adorable. Good creepy skeleton, not the plastic version. Giles with the chainsaw. Go Ripper! Gachnar is so cute. Because he's small. "Actual Size". Bad: The episode pacing is quite slow. The hokey dead people holding Buffy down. Foreshadowing: The scared guy in the closet is crying and apologising and Buffy is attacked. In 'Selfless' a frat girl is crying in a closet and Willow is attacked. "The Harsh Light of Day" | View Comments65 | nathan.taurusAug 30, 2010 James Marsters talks about the actor who played Parker. "The dude that played her first boyfriend, that was mean, that was so nice but that used her, Parker? Nice guy. But, he was a smoker, and he'd smoke right before the kissing scenes which was like, rude - he just really didn't think - so poor Sarah's just kissing like an ashtray - and she just happened to say, boy I really hate that, and so yeah, I brush my teeth. I wanted her to enjoy it".- James Marsters. June 2000 (Nocturnal 2K) Sarah is really professional in the kissing scenes because I never noticed her not liking it. That shows a good actor. "The Harsh Light of Day" | View Comments66 | nathan.taurusAug 30, 2010 Good: Sarah Michelle Gellar is really pretty in this ep. Anya and her people skills. "Go away". Another very romantic scene for Xander's next fling. The reaction Buffy gives to Parker about the query of her dating Spike. 'Bif Naked' playing while Buffy and Parker dance, talk and.....you know. Buffy v Spike in the sunlight. Bad: Out of character Willow taking "glued to their seats" realistically. She isn't stupid. Harmony. She is no Drusilla. The campus is deserted when Spike and Buffy fight. Xander finds them fast. "Living Conditions" | View Comments67 | nathan.taurusAug 29, 2010 The Good: Parker giving good advice on the food cards. Buffy in the black top, included in the screencap. Parker laughing with Kathy. Perhaps trying to hedge his bets on the two girls. Oz and Buffy on patrol. SMG and Seth get on so good together, even 10 years later. Xander: "This hurts me more than it hurts you." Buffy: Not yet, but it will." The Bad: Kathy. I get she is supposed to be annoying, but she is really homocidal annoying. I don't blame Buffy. Out of character Buffy with the gum. She has never chewed gum before, why now. Sloppy. You can hear the loud sound of the milk spilling onto a plastic tarp while she is not drinking it. Kathy's dialogue to her father and the whole stupid demons plot. "The Freshman" | View Comments68 | nathan.taurusAug 29, 2010 Afterthebattle: You are right. It is very similar. The Good: The realism and scope of the college campus adding to the overwhelmed feeling. Willow excited about the huge ceiling library. Riley: "So are you girls taking 'Intro Psych' or do you just want me dead?" The fantastic greeting/pep talk to Buffy at the Bronze. So great. Buffy finds her rhythm and gets the job done. The Bad: Why did Buffy think there was a struggle. There would be no evidence on grass. Using the carpark cemetery set for both of Buffys contacts with Sunday. Trivia: As soon as Buffy is at a new school a could-be friend is vamped. This happened to Jesse in 'The Harvest'. Also, Eddie responds "I'm not" when he is shown sympathy over being turned, just like Jesse did. de'ja'vu. "Graduation Day Pt. 2" | View Comments69 | nathan.taurusAug 28, 2010 The Good: The sexual Angel drinking Buffy scene. Buffy kissing Faith's forehead in the hospital. The gangs reaction to Buffy's plan, similar to 'Chosen' when they were shocked. Buffy and the Mayor going over their war plans in great cuts. The spectacular kiss between Wesley and Cordelia. All the sexual tension and that's it. The speech of Mayor Richard Wilkins III. Very fitting and relevent even today. Jonathan screaming and tackling a vampire. Later holding onto Cordelia when the school explodes. The school explodes. C'mon, the high school explodes. The Bad: It took almost 50 seconds for Buffy to fall unconcious, yet it takes 2 seconds or less for anyone else to die. The tan on Cordelia in the library scene. The Mayor demon speaks. Why! "Graduation Day Pt. 1" | View Comments70 | nathan.taurusAug 28, 2010 The Good: Xander freaking a little thinking he isn't going to leave high school alive. "What page are you on, Wes? Because we already got there." Ahh, Wesley. The Mayor threatening the group. Giles stabbing him. Oz's look to Giles when this happens. The siren sound when the Mayor enters the library and when he wipes the blade. "Whoa!" I like Oz's definition of panicking. Anya: "Fine, you know what I hope you die!....aren't we gonna kiss?" Montage of Faith training, Angel dying and Buffy preparing. The Buffy/Faith fight. The stabbing is shocking. "You should of been there, B. Quite a ride." The Bad: Xander: "The suspense is killing Angel." He hates Angel. He would never say this. "School Hard" | View Comments71 | nathan.taurusAug 26, 2010 This is James Marsters revealing his experience of the Bronze scene: As an actor, I right away played an attraction to Buffy, even though Spike was fully in love with Drusilla. There was a scene, my very first day of shooting, where I was hunting Buffy, not to fight with her, but just to observe her and see what her fighting style was. And I'm looking at her in the Bronze and I'm kind of walking through the crowd, watching her dance, and there was something both very much of a hunter, "I'm going to kill you", but there's also heavy sexual undercurrent, and that just came off the day (laughs) watching Sarah dance, really. But, you know, Spike was the perfect boyfriend, so he would never go beyond that. But there was that attraction immediately, and by the time we get to Season 4, it's developing. So Mike, you were right. "The Prom" | View Comments72 | nathan.taurusAug 26, 2010 The song is 'Praise You' by Fatboy Slim. Oops. "The Prom" | View Comments73 | nathan.taurusAug 26, 2010 Melanie #3. 'Wild Horses' wasn't the song played in 'Angel'. The Good: Joyce telling Angel how she feels about his relationship with Buffy. Angel's dream of his wedding to Buffy and her on fire. Cordelia being told that someone had paid the remainder on her dress. Wesley's story of his strange schooling days. The nice moment between Xander and Cordelia when she thanks him. The entire ending with Buffy being given the 'Class Protector' award to her and Giles to 'Wild Horses' playing while Buffy and Angel dance. Fantastic ending. The Bad: The sewer break-up talk. Too overly dramatic. "Right now I'm just trying to keep from dying." I really hope someone was fired for that line. The butcher giving out private customer information. The hellhounds ruin what could have been a great episode. Trivia: The song 'Praise Me' that was played at the prom was also played in SMG's movie "Cruel Intentions". "Choices" | View Comments74 | nathan.taurusAug 26, 2010 The Good: Buffy's blue dress. She is really radiant in it in the great library scene with Giles and Wes. Wesley: "Let's synchronise our watches...typical." Seeing Mayor Wilkins get angry. "-They've got my box." Faith and Willow together again. Willow standing up and telling Faith the truth. The Mayor's speech to Buffy and Angel and his disappointment at Angel. "Make the trade." Giles' smile when Willow gives him the pages she got. Buffy tackles Willow on the grass. Angel and Buffy try to tell themselves that the Mayor was wrong and they will last. Trivia: Buffy says to take the fight to the Mayor. In season 7 she decides to take this action again. "Earshot" | View Comments75 | nathan.taurusAug 22, 2010 AttckedWithHummus: It shows how bad my times tables are that I never thought of that. I should have done the math. 5 x 4 is 30? Of course. The Good: Wesley getting Giles with a good one. "And what took up the rest of the minute?" Buffy trying to get Giles' attention. "Giles, Infect!" Angel jokes. "I'm a funny guy." Watch out Oz. The fantastic library scene with everyones thoughts. Xander, what else would you think of. The look Buffy gives to Wesley. Priceless. All the voices in the cafeteria together add to the viewer feeling dizzy. Xander and Larry chat. The fantastic Buffy/Jonathan speech. The pause while Xander and the lunchlady just stare at each other. Hilarious. Giles walks into the tree:) The Bad: The classroom scene went on too long. Nancy. Why that crime against humanity. Jonathan has a rifle with scope for suicide. Maybe it's the only thing he could get? The Ugly: The lunchlady stunt double. It looks like a man. They should have gotten padding. "Enemies" | View Comments76 | nathan.taurusAug 22, 2010 The Good: Xander asking if Giles has any sexy engravings, which goes back to 'Witch'. "And on the day the words 'flimsy excuse' were redefined we stood in awe and watched." Angel beating Faith while pretending to be Angelus. She seems much stronger in "AtS" Angelus is back. Even though it's not real it's still great to see him. The Mayor and Angel. "Have her home by eleven." He's the guy she can take home to Daddy. Faith and her slo-mo head turn when Angel reveals the truth. Knives to throats. Miniature Golf. His face with the big smile. The Bad: The demon selling the books makes the growling sound of a vampire. "Doppelgangland" | View Comments77 | nathan.taurusAug 22, 2010 The Good: Willow and Percy. "You want us to breed?" Double standards Willow saying that magic shouldn't be toyed with. Xander saving Percy, but thinking he is saving Willow. Buffy's reaction to seeing vamp Willow thinking it's Willow. "Oh my God, you're Willow." Vamp Willow breaking the attackers fingers. I cringed. The great library scene when Xander/Buffy/Giles realise Willow is not dead. Willow shocked by her own cleavage. Wesley and Cordelia. Wesley screams. "Men in combat, grrr." The Bad: Willow's pink flower sweater. Maybe in season one, but not now. Willow somehow knowing the words to the spell. Anya had to explain who they were praying to. Why are people still sitting at there tables when the vamps are there? Willow survives Vamp Willow choking her. Too many extras not acting anything. How could they ever explain Willow killing someone. There should have been half a dozen extras. "Consequences" | View Comments78 | nathan.taurusAug 21, 2010 The Good: Wesley attracted to Cordelia then dropping her hand when he is told she is a student. Faith trying to fight her conscience while looking at the photo of her victim. Giles pretending to be angry at Buffy for the benefit of Faith. Faith choking Xander. She is a bloody sociopath. Faith saving Buffy from Mr Trick who was really winning that fight. The Bad: Willow crying. Why, because she realises that even though she has a boyfriend she is the last virgin. The death of Mr.Trick. He was the coolest vampire since Spike. Way too early to stake him. Trivia: Xander tells Faith "Not now. Not like this." He told Buffy the same thing while she was under the love spell in 'Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered.' "Bad Girls" | View Comments79 | nathan.taurusAug 21, 2010 The Good: Finch likes to read "Cathy". He has to die. The Xander and Oz dynamic. Buffy's first meeting with Wesley. "Afterwards I get a cook-ie!" So friggin hilarious. Wesley having no clue what is going on. It's funny how much he changes in "Angel" season 3. "It's called an uzi, ya chump. Woulda saved your ass right about now." Stereotypical, perhaps. Become Invincible. That's also on my 'to do' list. The Bad: Balthazar breaks the vampires neck. That won't kill him. "The Zeppo" | View Comments80 | nathan.taurusAug 21, 2010 The Good: "Giles, I don't need to see the math." "Just two guys rassling...but not in a gay way." The make-up is fantastic, especially on the guy who was thrown off the bridge. Xander and Faith do 'it' in a very romantic scene. I found it romantic enough. Go Xander. The Buffy/Angel scene. So funny it hurt to watch. Xander the tough, together guy who saves the day. He probably saved Buffy and the gang. Not caring what Cordy thinks. The Bad: Again the incredibly small crucifix necklace that she has had for a while now. The Hollywood bomb timer that counts slower than real time. "Helpless" | View Comments81 | nathan.taurusAug 20, 2010 The Good: Buffy rubbing the phallus like crystal and then realising and quickly putting it down. Xander and Oz talking about Superman. Taking the heart metaphor as incredibly gross. I thought the same thing straight away. Buffy running and screaming for help in a reversal role. She acted very scared. Giles and Buffy in the library when he comes clean. Buffy using her smarts to kill Kralik. The dramatic library scene. The way she winces when she touches the cut on her forehead. Xander offering to be the man and help Buffy with the jar and then needs help. The Bad: Agree. Why would Kralik need pills. The incredibly small crucifix necklace again. Andrea: Yes the denim overalls. She stole them from Willow. Trivia: Buffy throws the case at the wall while Giles is standing in the doorway. In 'Prophecy Girl' she was upset and threw books at the same wall and Giles and her were in the same positions. "Gingerbread" | View Comments82 | nathan.taurusAug 20, 2010 Foreshadowing: Cordelia tells Giles one day he might wake up in a coma. In "AtS" episode 'You're Welcome', Cordelia does in fact wake up while in a coma. Victoria #32, you are correct. "Gingerbread" | View Comments83 | nathan.taurusAug 20, 2010 The Good: Giles and Joyce meet again. "There's a rumour going around." "About us!" The no-neck footballers are afraid of Buffy. Willow's mum is more shocked at her saying she is dating a musician. Giles yelling at the computer."You stupid fad! Yes I said fad and I'll say it again!" The intelligent plot of censorship and how fairy tales are really violent. "Did I get it!? Did I get it!?" The Bad: All the fuss for two children. Hundreds die and no one cares. Joyce suggesting that students can get ideas from books. I hate how people throw out personal responsibility for actions. "Amends" | View Comments84 | nathan.taurusAug 20, 2010 The Good: Joyce refusing to acknowledge that Giles might like to be invited for dinner. Giles and Angel together again. Giles with the crossbow. Xander offering to help research why Angel is back. "Who else can claim that pathetic a social life." and Willow walks in. Xander trying to threaten Willy and Willy complimenting his effort. Willow wants to do 'it' on the living room couch. "You realise if he truly becomes a danger you may have to kill him - again." Giles perhaps making the point of the Angel comeback. Buffy's speech to Angel. The Bad: Buffy's hairstyle. That fringe. Jenny (The First) touches Angel. "Lover's Walk" | View Comments85 | nathan.taurusAug 20, 2010 Foreshadowing: Spike tells Willow that "Dru thought I'd gone soft". In season four, 'The Initiative' going soft is the not so subtle joke between them. "The Wish" | View Comments86 | nathan.taurusAug 20, 2010 Perhaps the reason Giles in Sunnydale is because he trained the Slayer three years earlier and she was killed by the Master so he could escape. He said he was a Watcher so maybe once his Slayer died he stuck around because he felt responsible. The Good: The fifty or sixty-odd messages that Xander left Cordelia. Buffy, Willow and Xander at the Bronze. Cordelia still looks sexy with trash in her hair. Vampire Xander and Willow in the leather. They should hang out with Dru and Spike. The fantastic library scene with Vamp Willow and Xand draining Cordy with no sound, until they have the noise of the key dropping. Giles calls upon Anyanka. "Do you have any idea what I do to a man who uses that spell to summon me?" The perfect fight where everybody dies and Giles fights with Anyanka. The slo-mo is the best with the haunting instrumental music. The Bad: Why would they think the demon would dissolve? The asian Harmony-ette. She doesn't fit. Not because she's asian, because she's annoying. People still live in Sunnydale with so much more death. "Lover's Walk" | View Comments87 | nathan.taurusAug 19, 2010 The Good: Spike returns and runs down the sign again, only this time drunk. The way Willow says the word "occasion". Spikes hand on fire in the sunlight. Take that sparklers. The green top Buffy wears to visit Angel. Of course it's not the top itself. The wondeful Spike and Willow scene. Buffy skipping in the library. Again it's the top. Spike and Joyce having a chat. Angel trying to enter the Summers' home. "You're a very bad man". Cordelia death fake-out with the turning of the head, funeral scene and music. Great! Spikes speech. Ending with 'Lonliness of Six' instrumental with everyone hurting. The Bad: Angel not hearing Spike when he raises his voice. Oz and Cordelia walking in at the right 'Hollywood' time, not 5 minutes later. No Drusilla. Spike really needs her and the plot could have been different. Spike's speech. Buffy and Angel never shag again. (Okay, 'I Will Remember You')but for real. "Revelations" | View Comments88 | nathan.taurusAug 19, 2010 fray-adjacent: good point about Gwendolyn to Giles. The Good: The "best of Buffy's bestest buds" at the Bronze. Buffy's arrival and Faith and her together. Synchronised slaying. Giles' dumbfounded look at Gwen when she introduces herself. Buffy mocking Giles in front of Gwendolyn. Gwendolyn condescending Giles at his place about the pretty pictures. The fantastic Buffy intervention scene. Again, Xander and Cordelia are the only smart ones to stand up. Giles' speech to Buffy about her not respecting him. Willow's look as Buffy kicks the demon in the crotch. Giles knocked unconcious yet again. The Bad: Gwendolyn somehow broke a thick shovel over her thigh. She doesn't need the glove. "Band Candy" | View Comments89 | nathan.taurusAug 19, 2010 The Good: Buffy and Giles studying in the cemetery. "It's the SATs Buffy, not connect the dots." Giles running out of training exercises. She still nails him. Xander and Willow quickly slamming their feet back against the table. Snyder on candy. This guy is a hoot. "Whoa Summers, you drive like a spaz!" Buffy's reaction to Joyce offering her the car keys. Giles and Joyce listening to music. Bad boy Giles. "I've gotta get a band together." Mr Tricks scare tactic. Breaking necks. Now that's a strict boss. Snyder trying to impress Joyce. Everything about Ripper. The Bad: Buffy's necklace changed to a crucifix when she returned home from visiting Angel. Buffy's response to Snyders commendation. She hates him, she wouldn't congratulate him. The damage to the 4WD isn't as severe as the crash would have made it. All that trouble to steal four babies. C'mon! "Homecoming" | View Comments90 | nathan.taurusAug 15, 2010 The Good: Buffy and Faith "getting all sweaty" in the library. I stand by that comment. Willow and Xander getting dressed up in his room. 'Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered' anyone. Buffy threatening Cordelia. "Don't you ever do that again!" "Vapid whore!" Slayerfest '98. Cordelia taking the spatula over the telephone. The yellow demon landing on the grenade. Giles knocked unconcious for the 7th time in the series. The Bad: Buffy's crucifix necklace. It is so small, what's the point? She has at least 5 others. Only a religious person would wear one that tiny as it wouldn't deter vamps. The spatula looks plastic yet dusted the vampire. No one heard the semi automatic gunfire in the school? Foreshadowing: Faith realises Buffy punches harder with rage. In 'Flooded', Willow points this out to her. "Homecoming" | View Comments91 | nathan.taurusAug 15, 2010 The Good: Buffy and Faith "getting all sweaty" in the library. I stand by that comment. Willow and Xander getting dressed up in his room. Foreshadowing: Faith realises Buffy punches harder with rage. In 'Flooded', Willow points this out to her. "Beauty and the Beasts" | View Comments92 | nathan.taurusAug 15, 2010 The Good: Buffy and Faith talking about the "low down tickle." Giles angry at Xander. "When you woke up!" Mr Platt (Hooch from "Scrubs") is truthful. No one is 100% sane, probably 90% at most. The Oz v Pete library fight. "Time's up. Rules change." Giles gets shot by the tranq dart. "Oh. Bloody priceless." The Bad: Debbie and Pete. It is hard to introduce characters in one episode that we should feel for. Foreshadowing: Debbie brings out the beast in Pete as Willow will bring out the wolf in Oz on his return in 'New Moon Rising'. "Faith, Hope, and Trick" | View Comments93 | nathan.taurusAug 15, 2010 The Good: Oz and Xander almost carrying Willow across the threshold. Willow freaking out. Mr Trick pointing out the majority race in Sunnydale. "Makes D.C look, like Mayberry." Willow's cute smile to Giles after he calls her on his 'clucking'. Cordelia telling Xander that maybe she should dress like a Slayer and hold a stake to his throat. Hell Yeah! Buffy continually mis-pronouncing Kakistos. "Kissing Toast" "Taquitos" Giles tricking Buffy into admitting what really happened in 'Becoming Pt 2'. The Bad: Faith is beaten by Kakistos savagely, yet isn't hurt at all. Angel returns way too soon. Side Note: I think Mr Trick was supposed to be Spike#2 as he is the cool vampire that doesn't go for all the showy stuff and he says a similar thing as Spike did when he leaves Kakistos fighting the slayers. Both Spike and Trick paused, commented and then left. "Dead Man's Party" | View Comments94 | nathan.taurusAug 15, 2010 The Good: Nighthawk the Vampire Slayer. Xander the cool hunter guy. Buffy pushing Cordelia out of the way to stake the vampire. The Giles apartment scene. Buffy and Xander. "Belgium". Giles' reflection. "Gathering, Shindig or Hootenanny." The gang have a go at Buffy in a great scene. Jonathan by the dip. Giles threatening Snyder. Go Ripper! Buffy and Willow trading insults at the Espresso Pump. The Bad: Why was there a vampire behind a boarded up wall? No one takes into consideration Joyce's feelings towards a huge party at her house, or the neighbours. It just isn't in character. The party ruins the episode, too many extras. Good one of them got his neck snapped. The Future: Snyder says that 'Hot Dog on a Stick' is hiring. Buffy later works in the fast food industry at 'Doublemeat Palace'. Everyone has a go at Buffy for her actions. This happens again in 'Empty Places'. "Anne" | View Comments95 | nathan.taurusAug 15, 2010 The Good: Oz throwing the stake at the vampire and it doing nothing. An accurate depiction of Los Angeles, not the Hollywood movie version. Buffy losing Lily on the "splitting up" plan. Cordelia referencing Xander and his Inca Mummy Girl. Buffy wanting a room witha chair a fireplace and a tea cosy. "I'm Buffy, the vampire slayer, and you are?" Buffy's impression of Ghandi. The Bad: The sad instrumental music showing the homeless. "Ted" | View Comments96 | nathan.taurusAug 13, 2010 R.I.P John Ritter. The Good: John Ritter playing against character as a violent, yet chirpy robot. Mini-Golf. Buffy in that cleavage-y leopard top. Ted a little upset with Buffy cheating. Xander, Willow and Cordelia working together. Buffy fighting Tedbot because he slapped her. Tedbot's own form of hash cookies. The Bad: During 'When She Was Bad' it is mentioned there is no miniature golf course. Everyone in the school looking at Buffy as if she is a killer. How do they know anything? Tedbot is so, so, so far advanced from the future Buffybot. It can do everything. The copout of Tedbot being a robot is similar to the extreme copout of having Wesley kill his father in 'Linage' and not be real. "Becoming Pt. 1" | View Comments97 | nathan.taurusAug 1, 2010 I forgot the great library scene. Giles: "Curing Angel seems to be Jenny's last wish." Xander: "Yeah, well Jenny's dead." Giles: "Don't you ever-". Xander: "Can't you hear what I'm saying-" Buffy: "STOP IT! STOP IT!" Willow: "What do you wanna do?" Buffy: "I don't know.....what happened to Angel wasn't his fault." Xander: "Yeah, but what happened to Miss Calendar is. You can paint this anyway you want, but the way I see it is you wanna forget all about Miss Calendars murder so you can get your boyfriend back." Later Willow is on the phone to Buffy talking bad about Xander. I really feel Xander was right. Angelus is a killer and yet it seems Xander and Kendra are the only ones who can see Angelus as being someone evil. "Becoming Pt. 2" | View Comments98 | nathan.taurusAug 1, 2010 The Good: Buffy joking to Xander about protecting her from the cops. Spike trying to get Buffy to stop punching him. Buffy looking at Spike the entire way back to her house. Watching every move he makes. Spike and Joyce in the living room. Buffy dipping the sword at Snyder in the library. Xander and his immortal line. "Kick his ass." Drusilla as she keeps on kissing Giles even after getting the information. Spike belting the crap out of Angelus and Drusilla's sound as she jumps on Spike. "Well that's everything, huh. No weapons...no friends...no hope...take all that away, and what's left?" "Me". The fantastic ending with Buffy stabbing Angelus and then leaving town while the gang wait. The Bad: When Buffy returns to the library to pick up the sword, the bookshelf that the vampire pushed onto Willow is upright and filled with books. Filming scenes out of whack. Drusilla never knew that Jenny and Giles had never been together sexually. The Ugly: The policewoman shooting at Buffy as she runs away, unarmed. Cordelia wanting Willow to speak english. She isn't that stupid. Spike suffocating Drusilla and Juliet's arm hanging onto James' shoulder as they leave. Even with those faults, the two part episode and this ending make it my favourite episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I give it a 95 as even without the faults, no episode can ever be perfect. "Becoming Pt. 1" | View Comments99 | nathan.taurusAug 1, 2010 The Good: The way Spike smiles and quietly laughs because Angelus' blood doesn't do anything. The return of the Jamaican-ish Slayer, Kendra. "Is there a chair shortage?" "I didn't read anything about-oh." The fight between Buffy and Angelus. "This isn't about you. This was never about you. And you fall for it every single time." Xander gets his wrist broken. Drusilla and her fingernail of Death. Buffy's slo-mo run and Whistler's voice over. The Bad: The first vampire that Buffy stakes in L.A is clearly on the graveyard set. You can see the large wall in the background. Luckily, in the future, they went to real cemeteries more. Kendra died way too quickly from that lack-of-wound. I give it a low 90's. "Go Fish" | View Comments100 | nathan.taurusAug 1, 2010 Again the library cage is supposed to be strong enough to hold half a dozen people who could turn into large fish. Damn strong that cage is. Wentworth Miller in a starting role before he mumbled his way through 'Prison Break'. Wanting Buffy to walk him home:) Pretty much agree with your score. "I Only Have Eyes for You" | View Comments101 | nathan.taurusJul 29, 2010 G1000: I am with you. No where near a 95. The Good: Willow getting interested in magic because of Jenny. The 50's high school girls speech. "Oh, he's dreamy." It is so swell. They probably have the names Sandy Sue and Norma Jean. Giles flustered and declaring he is right about the ghost and everyone else is wrong. The scene with Buffy watching the couple dance in 1955. Buffy and Angelus do the reverse roles of the doomed play. The Bad: The student in the class when the teacher wrote the line on the blackboard. "Did you see what he wrote?" Of course we did, dumbass! So annoying. There was still snakes in the cafeteria. Animal control wouldn't just leave them 'till the morning. The glass panels on the exit door to the stairs where the shooting takes place has the same marks as 1955. Now that's good glass. A good episode, but not as good as many say in my opinion. A High 80's. "Killed by Death" | View Comments102 | nathan.taurusJul 29, 2010 The Good: Buffy's look to Giles as he tactfully gets Cordelia about her not bringing a gift. The Giles and Cordelia research session. "There's a demon for everything." Xander telling about him not being able to tell Willow they were playing 'Doctor' wrong. Willow's frog fear comes up again. Can you imagine if she dreamt of being onstage with frogs while being late for class and naked. The ending with the gang in Buffy's room. The drawing of a manly Buffy by Young Giles. The Bad: 8 year-old Buffy as a brunette. She is blonde in 'Weight of the World' when she is 4. Is she naturally blonde or brunette. Maybe she's a ginger:) The flashback scenes. Screaming children. The old Hollywood saying springs to mind. "Passion" | View Comments103 | nathan.taurusJul 29, 2010 Fantastic episode. The Angelus voice over was a great addition. Everytime I watch the 80 second run/chase scene with Angelus and Jenny I always think that Buffy will come in and save her. Of course, she had to die because Buffy had partly forgiven her and Giles was to have another shot...cannot have people happy, it wouldn't be a Joss show. The use of the Giles/Jenny love theme is fantastic. I like how we later find out Giles was one customer who purchased the Thesulac Orb as a new age paper weight. Giles with a flaming baseball bat. And again he gets choked unconcious. I would have kept the shattered Buffy/Giles scene outside the factory going for a little longer. The only thing that is weird is that Jenny Calendar has a headstone up already. Okay, being Sunnydale most residents probably already have their headstones on pre-order just in case they suffer from 'neck rupture' or something. It was brutal and quick the death of Jenny. "Sorry, Jenny, this is where you get off." SNAP! Great line. "Phases" | View Comments104 | nathan.taurusJul 28, 2010 I finally put two and two together and realised that the werewolf hunter, Kane, is the same guy who played, Sahjhan, in "Angel" the series. Jack Conley. Anyway, another below-par episode in the inconsistent season 2. Oz being the werewolf is good and his phone conversation to his aunt is priceless. Theresa is pretty good looking too and the same age as Sarah. The hunter got stale. Although his response to Buffy and Giles being in lover's lane together was great. "Surprise" | View Comments105 | nathan.taurusJul 28, 2010 The reveal scene of Jenny being a member of the gypsy clan was horribly done. It felt forced and out of nowhere that this would happen, especially when she says, "I know...Uncle...I know." Forcing info down the viewers throat is not good Buffy. Apart from that crap-o-rama, I enjoyed the episode and the first of Buffy doesn't get a real birthday celebrations. Juliet Landau is a much better actor in this season then James Marsters. A great scene is when Dru replaces the vampires broken glasses and pauses then says "Hurry back then" and pats him on the head. It seems improvised as James looks away and smiles before Dru goes to him. Not a 95 episode though, In my opinion. "Bad Eggs" | View Comments106 | nathan.taurusJul 28, 2010 Now that is a huge parasite to fit in such a small egg. I loved the "red headed step child" line so much, so incorrect, yet so funny. Funny/Shocking scene: Possessed Cordelia punches Xander on his head wound and he punches her in retaliation "THAT"S MY BUMP!", then is shocked by his action. I always think of the line "As punishments go, this is fairly abstract". I find it so funny and remember it often, even when not thinking about the show. A lot better than a 50 score. Unfortunatley another missed episode in a hit and miss season. "Lie to Me" | View Comments107 | nathan.taurusJul 25, 2010 The biggest problem I have with this episode is that, like many shows, a person who has no past of homocide can somehow just kill without remorse. A person who can do this most often has a desire or thoughts well before the action. Ford was a some-what friend of Buffy so for him to trade her life for his means he was never normal in the first place. The teaser was strange in a way because it seemed like by the way Drusilla and Angel were talking that they were brother and sister. That was the first thing I thought of when watching it again, although, you would have to change the "Angel" series flashbacks of their trists. I think it was great that Spike did honor his word and turn Ford. For a vampire he is a pretty straight up guy. "Halloween" | View Comments108 | nathan.taurusJul 25, 2010 Just remembered that the door didn't have a bell, I could only hear the door open and close. "Halloween" | View Comments109 | nathan.taurusJul 23, 2010 Right off the bat, one thing that bugs me is Willow as a ghost. She has a reflection and shadow and when she leaves Giles with Ethan, you can hear the doorbell ring as she opens it up to walk out. She is a ghost! Alyson could have just walked out of frame and waited until the shot was done. That done with, I really liked this episode and it was funny watching Buffy defenceless. She would drive you crazy pretty fast, though. Giles as a tough guy is so good to watch, yet, makes alot of the previous episodes (Inca Mummy Girl) a bit odd, seeing as how he can fight and defend himself. Oz and his second view of Willow. "Who is that girl?" I would not give it a 95, but a late 80 or early 90. "Reptile Boy" | View Comments110 | nathan.taurusJul 23, 2010 Why couldn't Buffy and Willow have gone to Crestwood College? It would have made a hell of a lot more sense. Not everything within town limits has to have the 'Sunnydale' name as part of it. I did like that the nice frat boy was the leader of the worshippers. Also, the fraternity are possibly the worst human killers throughout the entire series as it had happened for at least 50 years. Funny (Queen C's driving) yet should have been better. "Inca Mummy Girl" | View Comments111 | nathan.taurusJul 23, 2010 The first appearance of Oz. I like how he sees Willow at the Bronze for the first time and is instantly attracted to her, even though she is covered head to toe. Just by her face and eyes he can tell he likes her. That's why they were the perfect couple of all Willows partners. Max: I like the would be-could be- a Slayer. She does know a thing or two about fighting. She did kill the bodyguard, choke Giles and use Buffy's fighting technique to knock her into the coffin. Although, many people on this show know defence fighting even when they shouldn't. "School Hard" | View Comments112 | nathan.taurusJul 23, 2010 The first scene with Spike and Drusilla are fantastic. They way they did the 'almost kiss' and then at the end they go for it again and just stop and he starts talking again. Drusilla is so hot and so creepy at the same time with those penetrating eyes. I don't agree Spike has feelings developing in the Bronze scene just yet. However when he says to Buffy during their fight that weapons make him feel all manly and rubs himself, Buffy slightly smiles. I do agree his stare is slightly longer than it would have been on any other Slayer, but remember, he has never seen a Slayer dance with friends before or be so open for attack. One thing that bothered me was the guy Spike stands in front off and loudly says to call the police. He stops then smiles and keeps bobbing. There is no reaction from him at all. Dumbass. And, Spike kills (again) the Annoying One. "Season 7 Review" | View Comments113 | nathan.taurusJul 21, 2010 Great and detailed review. The season theme of power was pretty good and most episodes were executed to a tee. Unfortunatley, some just didn't make the cut in terms of BtVS quality. When talking about the Holden's comment about being alone in 'CWDP' it reminds me of Cordelia's similar one in 'Out of Mind, out of Sight' when she says she would rather feel alone surrounded by people then feel alone by herself. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the greatest television series ever. "Never Kill a Boy on the First Date" | View Comments114 | nathan.taurusJul 21, 2010 Buffy and her love of moody, sullen guys starts here. I love at first how she cannot stand Angel. The funniest thing I saw in this episode is when, at the Bronze, Owen and Buffy are facing each other and Angel is in the background between them, watch as David moves his head to his left and then slightly back to remain in camera focus and not be covered by Owen as he leans forward. I really liked the speech Giles gave to Buffy at the end and the way it was done with the music and I cannot imagine Giles as a fighter pilot...possibly a grocer, yes. I did feel for Buffy. "Wrecked" | View Comments115 | Nathan.TaurusMay 29, 2010 G1000: Your line about Rack giving her more power reminded me of the storyline for Season 7. "It's not about right. It's not about wrong. It's about power." As Willow said later in the episode 'Two to Go', she was always picked on through junior high, high school and up until college and now she has the power, she is the strong one. Unfortunatley the writers used the drug metaphor a little too much when they could have used her lust for power as the reasoning behind her visits. I still stand by my previous comment though about this episode. "Season 5 Review" | View Comments116 | Nathan.TaurusApr 18, 2010 Season 5 is a great addition to the Buffy series with some great stand alone episodes and character moments, however, there is some bad. I believe this season is a little overrated mainly because of the finale. Glory is good to start with and then she becomes just a pain until the end. Dawn doesn't evolve yet either. The Good: 'The Replacement', 'No Place Like Home', 'Fool for Love', 'Into the Woods', 'Checkpoint', 'Blood Ties', 'Crush', and 'The Gift'. The Bad: 'Triangle', 'Forever'. The Ugly: 'Listening to Fear'. As I have mentioned 'The Body' doesn't fit in any of them because I didn't love it, but didn't hate it. "Season 1 Review" | View Comments117 | Nathan.TaurusMar 25, 2010 The Good: 'Welcome to the Hellmouth', 'The Pack', 'Angel', 'Nightmares' and 'Prophecy Girl'. The Master. The beginning of the greatest show ever. Principal Flutie. Amy Madison. Xander badass. Jesse dies. Sarah cute and sexy. Realisation of future relationship failure. The Scoobies stage debut. Willow growing up. The Bad: The annoying teen talk, eg: "What's the sitch" and more that I have pushed to the back of my brain. Xander skateboarding. Jesse dies. Harmony. The Ugly: 'I, Robot...You, Jane'. The amount of bullets in Darlas gun. "I Robot, You Jane" | View Comments118 | Nathan.TaurusMar 5, 2010 I cannot believe you gave this episode a 31. No episode of 'BtVS' deserves a score under 50. There are so many other shows with worse episodes, ie: almost every episode of 'Seinfeld', 'Frasier' and every single episode of reality shows like "---- Idol" and "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Dancing with the Stars". Okay, the "I'm jacked in" line was really, really, really bad, but we got the great ending with the gang realising their love life will always be doomed. And hot Buffy. Now my mind goes back to Sarah just after she was nearly electrocuted, lying on the floor still looking hot. "Buffy vs. Dracula" | View Comments119 | Nathan.TaurusFeb 23, 2010 Really good that they didn't kill Dracula.....as of course they couldn't. Riley "going through" Xander. Giles and the sisters. Riley should have given him more time. The introduction of Dawn. I remember being shocked and dismayed when it first aired all those years ago and she grew on me.....during season 7 anyway. "Once More, with Feeling" | View Comments120 | Nathan.TaurusFeb 23, 2010 I just remembered a bad line that Tara says to Willow while they are out before "Under Your Spell" kicks in. Tara tells her "I'm cured, I want the boys." This is only a line, but the wording of "I'm cured" means that homosexuality is wrong and can be dealt with in some form. I know this wasn't supposed to be seen in this way, but remember the stink that came from 'Seeing Red' from some lesbians who read too much into it. A series like this has a lot of subtext going on and even when it doesn't (Willows "filler" line) fans still sometimes look too deeply into what is not there. The "cured" line could just have easily caused another shit storm. "Discovering Buffy" | View Comments121 | Nathan.TaurusFeb 12, 2010 I can't remember the first episode I watched of the series as it was a while ago. Buffy first aired in Australia on December 3rd 1997. (The same day as "Stargate: SG1") I do remember watching the first episodes of Season 2 when they first aired and I watched the entire series until it finished. I watched all of "Angel" first time out. I was close to 13 when I started watching and turned 18 when the series came to a close and I have watched the entire series at least four times through from the television to the DVD boxset and I can say "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is my favourite television series ever with "The Simpsons" second...possibly "Angel" third. More people should give it a go instead of being turned off by the title or only watching a handful of episodes because it is one of the greatest shows of all time. "The Yoko Factor" | View Comments122 | Nathan.TaurusJan 31, 2010 Spike is another person to confuse Frankenstein with the monster. Dr. Frankenstein created the monster known as Frankensteins Monster. Good to see Angel beat up Riley, although Ry got some good hits in also. The ending all in fight. "Fort Dix!" Anya and Tara in the bathroom. Xander:"Tara's your girlfriend!?" Giles:"Bloody hell!" Note: Is it a coincidence that Forrest dies this episode and over on 'AtS' a similar looking, tough talking guy appears in 'War Zone'. Of course I'm referring to Charles Gunn. (BtVS 4.20, AtS 1.20) 9 May. "Something Blue" | View Comments123 | Nathan.TaurusJan 25, 2010 A bit of a hit an miss episode for me. I almost laugh uncontrollably at Spike telling Buffy, "That lip. Gonna get it, gonna get it." And to a lesser extent her response of, "What's wrong with Buffy?" and Giles' "Ah, such a good question." Buffy tormenting Spike in the bath tub about being impotent and flaccid then offering her neck to him. That is just cruel and unusual punishment, I mean, who doesn't want that neck, really? Willow depressed was what brang the episode down, and the demon fight at the end. "Hush" | View Comments124 | Nathan.TaurusJan 25, 2010 Everyone has already mentioned why this is a great episode, not a 100 in my opinion. So I will say what was wrong with it instead: Everyone in the dorm and the town turns depressed far too quickly. The car crashed into the fire hydrant. The two men trying to fight each other. Tara running from the Gentlemen and using up screen time trying to get inside a dorm room. Tara running into Willow at the perfect time and Willow having to limp. Still great but those things just bug me in what could have been a better episode with creepy villains and no speech. "Chosen" | View Comments125 | Nathan.TaurusJan 8, 2010 I don't usually add another post, but I just watched the episode again and noticed that when Caleb hits Angel with the urn and then throws it off camera you can hear it bounce off the wall with a plastic sound, as it is plastic. Also when the scoobies are in the school hall, just behind Xander in the background a crew member is seen walking into shot. And Vi bouncing back with the kick...what? Also I commented on Buffy and her wound before, but come on! She is near death and then she can stand back up and fight just because she is being mocked. And don't get me started with her running and jumping with such a wound. Love Anya killing a Turok-Han by cutting it in half...what the? And I just realised that the episode is a two parter as it picks off right where the last finished. Similar to last season. Could of done better but it is still bittersweet to know it is the final episode ever and the characters looking toward the future. And let's forget about the royal screw up with 'The Girl in Question'. Long live BtVS. "End of Days" | View Comments126 | Nathan.TaurusJan 8, 2010 Agree with your comment of how did Caleb get into the Pagan Temple from where the guardian woman came out of and also how in the hellmouth did Buffy, and especially Angel, not realise Spike was there. He had to come down the stairs also. The hospital scene was funny, as was Dawn realising what Kennedy and her tongue stud meant....similar to Willow realising the meaning of the song, "I Touch Myself" in 'Lie to Me'. The guardian thinking Buffy was joking about her name. The First in the form of Buffy joking with Caleb over his attitude to merging was also good. But as this is the penultimate episode of the series and with the title it just didn't deliver like it should have. Still deserves an 80 in my book. "Touched" | View Comments127 | Nathan.TaurusJan 7, 2010 What is with the camera movements at the start? I understand what they were trying to do but it made it hard to concentrate on what was happening. Not that it mattered as the first scene was just crazy and I couldn't understand anything that was being said, especially by Amanda. Great to see Spike threatening Faith for Buffy. In 'Graduation Day:Part 1', Wesley told Buffy not to worry about Faith, that she was a "footnote." Now Spike tells Buffy that he could make Faith a "footnote in history." Favourite scene was Spike and Buffy's dialogue to each other and the part where everyone gets it on, except Buffy and Spike. I never liked the Kennedy/Willow relationship as Kennedy was stronger than Tara, although I'm always amused by Kennedy's tongue stud. oh, and the Mayor returns. "Empty Places" | View Comments128 | Nathan.TaurusJan 7, 2010 The Caleb/Buffy fight was good, as was the ending scene. Agree that it seems strange that Buffy would be given the leadership role only to have it taken away the very first chance. And Rona really pissed me off with that last comment after Buffy left the house - her house. On a side note, was Rona a survivor in 'Chosen' because she was the only visible black Potential? I think it's possible as the series never had many black people shown to live in Sunnydale. Mr Trick said this in Season 3. I agree that there was many out of character scenes and the scene with all the cars leaving gridlocked in the tiny main street was just funny. Not in a good way. 'Person': Sarah must of had a cold as she sounded the same in the first scene as she did in 'The Killer in Me'. Seems the scenes were shot around the same time. "Dirty Girls" | View Comments129 | Nathan.TaurusJan 6, 2010 Buffy and her 'bait and swith' and she falls for it again. She did it in 'When She Was Bad' and 'Becoming Part 1'. Although this time is also used for a test for the Potentials. Faith is back and finally gets to meet Dawn..."Check it out, brat's all woman size." The Scoobies(Core 4)have their biggest hit since Buffy's death and it's probably the largest bad thing to happen that remains as Buffy came back. Xander losing his left eye has been hinted at for a while and here are times I can remember: 'Innocence'- Xander asks the soldier to "give me a blind eye". 'Bad Girls'- Everytime Buffy says "Faith", he puts his hand over his left eye making a patch. 'Something Blue'- Xander asks "can I be blind too" as a joke for the spell. 'Selfless'- The Crimslaw demons webbing goes down Xander's left eye. Of course these are probably just jokes and similarities but they're still there. I love Giles' comment to Buffy that what Caleb has "could be a stapler". Such a simple line makes me laugh. Also Molly (I think) yelling "No!" after seeing Caleb kill a Potential, and Caleb just saying, "yes" on his way to her. "Lies My Parents Told Me" | View Comments130 | Nathan.TaurusJan 6, 2010 It's great to see Spike threatening to kill humans again after only having his soul back for less than a year. It took Angel 100 years before he could even do anything near humans after getting his soul returned.....so does that mean Spike is stronger than Angel or more evil? Anyway, fantastic episode and great review as usual. I never get tired of learning about a characters past events and we have Drusilla again, yay! It's funny how Robin wanted to kill Spike, (who should have a name to differentiate when he is evil like 'Angelus')and yet his actions actually stopped the trigger and saved Spike's life as he would of had to of been killed if the trigger still worked. Perhaps. Fantastic fight sequence between them. It's a similar situation with Giles as his actions actually make Buffy step up and take charge which is one of the outcomes he wanted. Mike: You should have the line about Spike's brain not taking up that much room. "Storyteller" | View Comments131 | Nathan.TaurusJan 6, 2010 The evil, ancient seal is stopped by tears! What? I don't agree to killing Andrew yet but I think it would have worked out better if Buffy had to stab him and spill a few drops on the seal for it to stop. It would also be a preview for the next episode where Buffy acknowledges that she would let Dawn die. It would show here that that statement is correct, that she will do whatever she has to for the greater good. That said it could be something other than his blood, but I didn't buy that tears would do it. On a different note, I laughed my arse off with Andrew's line of, "In my plan, we are beltless." Such a simple line, yet so funny to me. Principal Wood saying "focusy" and his line asking, "a bus to where?" are also great. And the Buffy/Andrew scene around the seal is still my favourite scene in the episode. Especially with Buffy's final look to him. "Once More, with Feeling" | View Comments132 | Nathan.TaurusJan 4, 2010 Fantastic episode. I like the way it was done like a theatre production with characters looking at or towards the audience and the guys mouth moving in the henchman costume. Great songs written by the genius Joss Whedon and great story. My only complaints are that when Anya is singing, Xander is still mime talking until it's his time to sing. Buffy looks right at Giles finishing his song and asks if he just said something...was she deaf the whole time? And Xander summoning Sweet. After six years he knows not to do it, which means he is sort of responsible for the death. These are only small complaints and this episode still remains my second favourite episode of "Buffy". "First Date" | View Comments133 | Nathan.TaurusJan 4, 2010 Good episode without Xander's date. This episode had the nice dinner scene with Buffy and Wood, with Buffy saying that some of the meal was probably the best thing she ever had in her mouth...similar to Dawn's Season 6 comment but with a bit more maturity. I was waiting for the constant phrase from "The Office". Jonathan back again and mocking Andrew for something that should be intuitive. Xander asking Willow to "gay" him up was funny with more reference to the sexuality of Andrew. Agree with the question about the text message. "The Killer in Me" | View Comments134 | Nathan.TaurusJan 4, 2010 Wow! Harsh. It's funny because I didn't mind this episode and I quite liked 'Where the Wild Things Are'. I would rate it around 72 or so. You had the 'Ghostbusters' reference which is true: That phrase will never be useful again. Willow holding the gun gangsta style (yes, it's hip to spell incorrectly). And.....ah....Riley calling Spike "Ass face". "Showtime" | View Comments135 | Nathan.TaurusJan 3, 2010 First off, what was the Summers' front door made of - steel? It took the Turok-Han many hits to open it and that was before Willow did the spell. Agree with the comments but not the score. I think it deserves at least a 70, even if most of it is the great fight at the end, Anya's "Memory" line and saving Spike. Kennedy refered a little to her age by saying she thinks she might even be too old. The potentials all look over 17 to me, but that might just be to me. "Bring on the Night" | View Comments136 | Nathan.TaurusJan 3, 2010 I agree with your score. I found the ending speech to be one of the best in the series and it really had me, especially with Buffy being all beaten and bruised. I loved seeing Drusilla again and Spike telling her she is not as crazy as the real Dru, although her mumblings were close. When Buffy escaped from the ground with the Turok-Han being driven back down by the sunlight it reminded me of 'The Harvest' when a similar thing happened. Kennedy...is a potential that I really dislike, however, I can see she would make a good slayer with her strong attitude. Also I don't really like any of the potentials anyway, especially Eve. Just thinking, so for the last couple of days she never touched or ate anything and nobody noticed? Buffy getting her arse kicked in a 'Terminator' style chase scene. Nice. "Conversations with Dead People" | View Comments137 | Nathan.TaurusJan 2, 2010 First off there was no Xander for the first time ever, but thankfully Buffy rested on a tombstone with ALEXANDER engraved on it, so he was in the episode sort of. My favourite scenes were those with Buffy and Holden in the graveyard getting a lot of information about how Buffy really feels. Willow's scenes were good, although Cassie touching everything and leaning on the desk was a bit much, but her disappearance was creepy. Damn it Andrew, you may be funnier but Jonathan was always a better person and he was my favourite background filler. Nice death though, with creepy Warren and strange coloured blood pouring from the small wound. Dawn again allowed to show more range. Joyce on the couch. "Mother's milk is red today". 'Die Hard' reference with the feet and glass. And of course defying God and the football kick to Holden's chin. "Enemies" | View Comments138 | Nathan.TaurusJan 1, 2010 I think this episode deserves a little bit higher score as Faith finally shows her true colours towards Buffy to which Buffy realises what she might have to do. I liked the misdirection that Angelus had returned and Faith saying that she is the "worlds best actor" and Angel responding with "second best" along with the slow motion realisation from Faith. Although the show missed one of the biggest storyline threads with Faith proclaiming that "the Mayor built this town for demons to feed on-" and all that Buffy got from it was the last bit of "and come graduation day, he's gettin' paid." In the last four seasons there could of been an episode about Sunnydale. What it was like before Wilkins arrived and re-named it. The town is a character in it's own right and throughout the series we never got many answers to how it works, just more questions. This response would explain a bit of why people still live there, and we know from 'Flooded' that the property prices are cheaper than other towns. So this episode shows that everything that happens in Sunnydale throughout the seven seasons is in different ways because of Richard Wilkins. "Selfless" | View Comments139 | Nathan.TaurusJan 1, 2010 This is without a doubt one of the best episodes of the season and the series. The way the old scenes were done with less colour and adding markings to make it like old film footage was a great artistic addition. Liked the use of the frat house building again as has been used several times before as different locations. The last ten minutes or so were just fantastic, although I don't know why Anya would let Buffy just stab her again after she said how much swords through the chest hurt as it cannot kill her. Some things that didn't add up were Anya's blood on her wrist that somehow she missed. Buffy saying she loved Angel more than anything when in 'The Gift' she said the same thing about her mum. D'Hoffryn telling Aud that she is to help wronged women, yet in 'Entropy' Halfrek made it seem that Anya chose only to help women and, similar to Spike, the fact that Buffy let Anya live for so long after finding out she was a vengeance demon again. And, of course the demon spiders webbing lands down Xander's left eye. "Same Time, Same Place" | View Comments140 | Nathan.TaurusJan 1, 2010 How creepy is Gnarl? With his rhyming speech and strange eating habits.....but, actually, who hasn't tried tasty skin from time to time? Buffy poking the eyes in with her thumbs and then Xander's response. Foreshadow-y anyone. Now Poseable Dawn was hilarious, especially once the paralysis wears off. Why didn't the casting people find an actor who could more closely match the skinned body used for Warren that was used for the young boy at the construction site? The boy was too small...come to think of it even Warren may of been a little smaller. I'll stop with the great Anya/Willow scene which was a nice throwback to season 3. "Beneath You" | View Comments141 | Nathan.TaurusJan 1, 2010 I don't think the great ending can save the overall episode ranking for me. The giant, poorly done demon slug is just a bit too silly. It comes after Nancy in her buildings foyer and with all that noise and shaking no other resident comes out to see what is going on? The Bronze scene with Anya's little head turn and response of "Bite me, Harris", always makes me laugh, as does Spike and Xander looking at each other after Nancy comments over who hasn't slept together. The opening scene reminded me of 'Alias'. I thought it was Sydney wearing a wig and on another mission. Mike: As Spike now has a soul I think when he says "everything I did, everyone I...and him", that he is just referring to someone he killed as Angel remembered everyone he had killed once he got his soul back. Also, Spike being told to "go to Hell" reminds me of the AtS episode when he almost did. "Lessons" | View Comments142 | Nathan.TaurusJan 1, 2010 Firstly to Blue Fan: That is something I also thought of and there was no payback for it. Okay, good season premiere with great new Principal. Buffy teaching Dawn in the graveyard. Dawn having a dig at the show by saying that the vampire might not know the martial arts skills yet. A mobile phone finally (cell phone over there). Buffy's response to Wood over him telling her she belongs at the school. The ending was fantastic with the seasons 'Big Bads' returning for a cameo. Imagine Adam getting all that time consuming prosthetics for just a handful of seconds on screen. Too bad this was one of the only big moments that the First actually had. "Him" | View Comments143 | Nathan.TaurusJan 1, 2010 Good episode. I found Dawn's look at the RJ girl just before she runs away to be a little scary. Finally Michelle showing a bit more anger. Buffy wearing a school girl-ish uniform to seduce RJ in the room with Coldplay in the background was my favourite scene, probably as Sarah was so hot here. Seeing Dawn wearing Buffy's cheerleading uniform from 'The Witch' was also good as was the hilarious part with Buffy, Spike and the rocket launcher. On a con, how far away was Dawn? They could see her on the tracks, yet it took Buffy a while to reach her even using a train. "Entropy" | View Comments144 | Nathan.TaurusDec 12, 2009 I think we saw Anya's real character in this episode. As seen in 'Selfless', she was cheated on as a human so hated men from then on and became a vengeance demon, to which she cursed men for a thousand years, including that man in the 1920's who in return came back and ruined her wedding in 'Hell's Bells'. Since she is hurt by a man again she becomes a vengeance demon once more, but, that man is Xander. She wants Xander to die a horrible death for his actions, which, I think is a bit over the top. This shows that she could never be truly human as she was an evil demon for too long and reverted back the first chance she had. If she loved Xander enough and had learnt to be human she would of taken time to work out what happened. So after all the years of happiness with him she wants him dead over one terrible action? After taking possibly two weeks away from Sunnydale. Anyway, the last scene was brilliant. I love Spikes reaction as he ducks the axe then stares in shock at Xander, who looks back at him with pure hatred. "Wrecked" | View Comments145 | Nathan.TaurusDec 6, 2009 The great Buffy/Spike intro scene and then not much at all. Dawn's line of having "a meat party in my mouth." was both funny and a little creepy considering she is still only 15. Notice at first Willow smiles slightly on the two shot then when the camera pans on her face she is shocked at what Dawn just said. The only other redeeming thing I could find was Amy threatening to barf because of "super strength" shaking her. "Smashed" | View Comments146 | Nathan.TaurusDec 6, 2009 The opening scene with Buffy and the muggers was good, especially Buffy's "C'mon rush me, it'll be funny", with her face squinted. Also Spike's line mentioned above. Warren's line that the security is "A guy named Rusty" I also liked. Not sure why the museum would have really no security if the diamond was on loan. Surely they would have updated measures for someone elses things. Amy being turned human I liked, but I really couldn't stand most of The Bronze scenes with her and Willow; especially when they interrupt the Buffy/Spike scene which was the highlight of the episode. I loved Buffy's little smile when she tells Spike to "get out of my way". The instrumental music playing as they have of the sex just added to the ending. I would rate this episode 82, just because the Spike/Buffy scenes save what little respect or sense The Bronze magic scenes take. "Tabula Rasa" | View Comments147 | Nathan.TaurusDec 6, 2009 It was good to finally see Tara stand up to Willow about her use of magic. Also Buffy pleading with Giles to stay then storming off after not getting her way. I think Willow's comment, "Thanks for the jacket, it's cold out there.", is just a reference point for the viewers to remember why she had Xanders jacket once the spell is in motion. Notice that Buffy/Joan spoke like Faith when she realized how strong she was. Her words are "wicked strong", with similar facial expressions. Great seeing things talked about in 'Restless': The shark on land, Spike like a son to Giles. Spike even wearing the same clothes. Giles and Anya together. Giles and Spike. And a line that I always find funny for some reason. "Ready Randy?" "Ready Joan!". And Xander being called Alex. "Life Serial" | View Comments148 | Nathan.TaurusDec 3, 2009 I didn't understand how the time inhibiter works either. Somehow the Trio can randomly speed up hundreds of people in bursts that stop and start, then continue it for a huge amount of time before they self destruct the thing. The greatest parts for me were Buffy and the time-loop-mummy-hand and all of Buffy drunk. Am I the only one who thinks she is both cute and hilarious when she is drunk? The way she looks for a second then tilts her head after she said that she would stake Spike and the way she says that kittens are "stupid currency" always crack me up. And of course the Trio fighting over the best Bond. So I only really liked the last half or so. "All the Way" | View Comments149 | Nathan.TaurusDec 3, 2009 Not that bad but far from good. The good parts were Anya and her 'Charlie's Angels' getup with rollerblades and her counting the money dance. Giles cleaning his glasses and Buffy realising why he does it and seven vampires bite the dust. The bad: All the Dawn parts with the vampires. Notice the reflection of the vamp letting down the tyres. Dawn saying "Hello" when she hears a noise in the alley. I rate it about the same as Mike. "After Life" | View Comments150 | Nathan.TaurusDec 2, 2009 This episode had a bit of foreshadowing/repeating with 'Once More, With Feeling'. One was Buffy going to visit Spike in his crypt with Spike confessing feelings for her and the other was Buffy leaving the group to go outside and meet Spike in an alley where he comments on her leaving the big group hug/sing. I liked all the Buffy and Spike scenes, including the wispy ghost lady as she had some good questions for Buffy and her existence. I wouldn't rate it 100, but somewhere around 85. "The Body" | View Comments151 | Nathan.TaurusNov 22, 2009 Leelu: I agree that some people like watching sad movies or shows; just like any genre; like romantic, horror, comedy etc. I can watch this episode repeatedly, although I just don't get as much enjoyment as many of the others. I will admit that some scenes in movies have made me feel sad for what's going on and I still enjoy the movie, but I actually find it sadder to watch the last minutes of 'The Gift'. "Spiral" | View Comments152 | Nathan.TaurusNov 22, 2009 I agree on your thoughts on this episode. A part I really liked was the Buffy and Dawn part in the back, especially the look Buffy gives just after looking back after seeing the Knights chasing them. And the Xander and Spike interaction which was just so funny. "Forever" | View Comments153 | Nathan.TaurusNov 16, 2009 Why would Spike help Dawn do something so stupid? Sure, he can protect her, but I don't think he would help as much as he did. The Doc was cool and he had a tale, which reminded me of the giant cobra that could seek out The Key. This was something I thought about when he pulled a strand of her hair and studied it then when his eyes blackened when he looked into her eyes. I liked the scenes with Giles listening to 'Tales of Brave Ulysses', and Buffy's heartfelt speech to Dawn about the future. For me this episode was somewhere around a 75 or so. Side note: Notice how the fluid inside the Gora egg was similar to the telepathic demon's blood in 'Earshot'. "The Body" | View Comments154 | Nathan.TaurusNov 16, 2009 This is without a doubt one of the most over rated episodes in the series. First off the episode is a fantastic piece of television and deserves a rating of somewhere in the 90s, but it is one that I cannot watch again and again with enjoyment. A lot of people rate this in their top 10 best episode lists, but I wonder if they are putting it in because they enjoy it or because it is one of the best episodes. I know it is great artistically, but it isn't an episode that I have in my personal top episode list. I liked the opening scene and the part where Xander is trying to blame someone for the death and Willow offers to fight him and he responds that he can't take her. That part was really touching and still a little funny. I also have to disagree with many fans about Anya's crying. This didn't seem to fit in with the scene because Emma just couldn't pull it off. Fantastic episode, just not one of my favourites. "Triangle" | View Comments155 | Nathan.TaurusNov 12, 2009 Well, what can be said about 'Triangle'? I think one of only a few redeeming features was Olaf. I really didn't like Willow in this episode as she acted a bit too stuck up and out of character. I can understand her wanting to do magic but she was technically stealing goods. Does she have no respect for Giles? The other good part was Xander fighting to save Anya and Willow and Spike trying to get on Buffy's good side by not feeding on helpless disaster victims. All in all I agree with you're score. "Where the Wild Things Are" | View Comments156 | Nathan.TaurusNov 1, 2009 I think this episode is good. It is way ahead of 'IRYJ'. Yes the Buffy/Riley sex plot does go on a bit too long but it still doesn't take up alot of screen time. Most of the episode is standard for season 4. With the great interaction between Spike and Anya at The Bronze, Willow telling the spirits to "get over it." Spike talking himself out of helping, and of course, Giles singing at the Espresso Pump. And when Anya tells Xander that Spike and her didn't have sex....yet. I would rate this episode at least a 70. "Chosen" | View Comments157 | Nathan.TaurusOct 15, 2009 Congratulations on completing your reviews. Firstly I really enjoyed this episode and felt it closed the series well. Watching it I have a strange feeling knowing this is the final episode of my favourite television series ever. I believe it would of been better had it finished with a two parter and given more time to the core four characters who started the show. Also I feel the part where Buffy is on the ground after being stabbed a little milked. But overall this is an episode with some flaws but because it is the finale I can forget some of them, perhaps not the overhead shot of Sunnydale being surrounded by sand which is different from what we have seen before. Long live Buffy the Vampire Slayer. "Doppelgangland" | View Comments158 | Nathan.TaurusApr 18, 2009 I agree with your comments and myself enjoy the episode, although I rate 'The Wish' higher because you have to suspend belief longer in this episode than the other. The people at the Bronze forget about the expendable vampires who attack them, but it seems more difficult to forget that Willow killed someone as a vamp. I know we find out that the residents know strange things happen in Sunnydale in 'The Prom' but it still hurts the episode for me a little. "The Replacement" | View Comments159 | Nathan.TaurusApr 18, 2009 This is one of my top 5 episodes of the season. It's fun to notice the final scene with the two Xanders just how many times the brothers switch between the weak and confident Xanders. Nicholas does most of the talking for both. Also I love the look Buffy gives when Anya says she wants them seperate again. Anya also says she anticipates several more years of life and is killed in 2 1/2 years. "The Body" | View Comments160 | Nathan.TaurusApr 18, 2009 Here we have a great episode in terms of what it does for television and one of the greatest of the series, no doubt. It's on fans top 10 favourite episode lists alot although I'm not sure why. I myself like it but it is nowhere near my top 10 of the season for the very reason that I cannot watch it time and time again. It's not of much entertainment value for me which is what my top episodes of a season are made up of. I love the concept and execution of it but in all it's a once in a long while viewing. | |
Trivia: The actor who played the boss Manny, Brent Hinkley, also played the manager at a fast food burger joint in the 1993 movie 'Falling Down' with Michael Douglas. In the movie Douglas complained that the food looks nothing like the pictures which is the exact opposite of the Doublemeat Palace where the burgers look too good to be fast food.
