"When She Was Bad" | View Comments1 | buffyholicNov 17, 2012
Wow, amazing re-review. You touched upon so many things that the previous review didn´t have. Much more elaborate, with a lot more depth and the next time I rewatch it I´ll certainly see a lot more.

Also, love how you compare this episode to season six in how Buffy deals with her trauma and she even cracks morbid jokes both times. We can even see there are three ways to know that something really wrong is going on with Buffy: the overalls (although she doesn´t use them in season 6), a hair cut and morbid jokes.

Awesome job, Mike!

"Witch" | View Comments2 | buffyholicSep 17, 2012
If Xander were to ever think back on this, I believe he'd be glad he has her as a friend over having no relationship with her at all.

In season seven, he does say that. I don´t remember if it´s in "Beneath you" or "Help" but he says that he´s grateful he´s had Buffy as a friend.
Oh, how much they grow! It´s amazing!

"Best Fan Videos" | View Comments3 | buffyholicMay 8, 2012
They are all amazing but I have to say that Bacherolette is my favorite.

"Seeing Red" | View Comments4 | buffyholicSep 14, 2011
Continuity - Xander says he´s part fish to the girl in the bar. That comes from "Go Fish".

"Dead Things" | View Comments5 | buffyholicSep 12, 2011
I´m on my fifth rewatch of the entire series and I´ve been rereading all of your reviews and once again, I just have to praise you on this wonderful and insightful review. Also, your reviews help me understand and love Buffy even more each and every time.
Thank you, mike!

Also, a bit off-topic: I´m dying to see your review of "Home" because it´s simply one of my favorite episodes and completely amazing.

"Something Blue" | View Comments6 | buffyholicJul 16, 2011
Foreshadowing: Buffy says: "we may be in a forgetting spell later" and that is what happens in Tabula Rasa when Willow erases her memory for most of that episode.

Also, the discussion between Giles and Willow about using magic reminded me of how he will scold her in Flooded, though in the latter, she is already more frightening.

"Faith, Hope, and Trick" | View Comments7 | buffyholicJul 1, 2011
The scene where Faith and Buffy are verbally sparring ends with Faith wondering if Buffy could take her in a fight. That might be foreshadowing to "Revelations"(their first fight) and "Graduation day pt 1" which ends with Buffy putting Faith in a coma.

"Discovering Buffy" | View Comments8 | buffyholicMay 31, 2011
I started the show completely by chance. I was channel-surfing and came across Welcome to the Hellmouth. The show completely hooked me in because of the dialogue, characters and just because I love vampire or any supernatural show or movie. But the more I watched, the more amazed I´d become by the gutsyiness and the bold risks Buffy took.
Now, I am completely in love with this show and I have started my fifth rewatch just recently. I just have to say that Buffy changed the way I see television now because I had never encountered a show that had such amazing themes, episodes and character development.

"Season 1 Review" | View Comments9 | buffyholicMay 31, 2011
I am looking forward for your S2 re-reviews. I´m sure it´s gonna be great.

"The Harvest" | View Comments10 | buffyholicMay 29, 2011
The final dialogue between Buffy and Willow could be considered as foreshadowing, don´t you think?

Buffy: Maybe I can still get kicked out of school.
Willow: Maybe you could blow stuff up. They´re really strict about it.

Buffy gets expelled from school at the end of season 2 and blows up the school at the end of season three.

"Season 1 Review" | View Comments11 | buffyholicApr 29, 2011
Great job Mike. I especially like your Pros section because it is so true. Rewatching the season multiple times is really something amazing because the characters have no idea what will happen in the future and they are so happy here in contrast with later seasons. Also I have to add that these characters really draw me in like no other character or show has done before.

"Prophecy Girl" | View Comments12 | buffyholicDec 23, 2010
Great review, Mike. The whole monster in the library is cheesy but the characters suck me in completely and I enjoyed how you connected this episode and this Buffy to later seasons.

"Out of Mind, Out of Sight" | View Comments13 | buffyholicDec 10, 2010
Again, nice job and if I´m not mistaken, this episode has a better grade that it did before.
I like this episode very much because I can relate to it. While I was in school, I was somewhat bullied by others. Of course I didn´t turn into a killer like Marcie but I hid myself in books and movies. I started walking by myself because almost everyone was a jerk. I am still a bit lonely, but I kind of like it.
Great development for Cordelia and Buffy too.

"Nightmares" | View Comments14 | buffyholicDec 10, 2010
Mike, again, great job. Your rereviews have so much depth and layers now because we already know what´s gonna happen later on. That´s an advantage of rewatching the show, we discover and connect even more dots. And yes, SMG just rocks!
But you say the nightmares here are superficial, not very interesting. That doesn´t bother me for three reasons. One, the characters are still very young and a bit oblivious to what´s gonna happen in the future, so it´s alright their nightmares aren´t very developped because the characters themselves still have a way to go. Two, when I get to Fear Itself, I also think of this episode because I think of how they´ve grown. And Three, season 1 doesn´t develop the characters much and doesn´t follow through. But like I said, their fears seem reasonable for me.

"The Puppet Show" | View Comments15 | buffyholicDec 3, 2010
It is harmless but I like it mostly for the character interaction and dialogue.
Also, Principal Synder rocks!

"I Robot, You Jane" | View Comments16 | buffyholicNov 24, 2010
Bad episode, very bad.
Although there are no bad Buffy episodes for me, this is actually really bad and I always skip it.

Keep up the great job, mike.

"Angel" | View Comments17 | buffyholicNov 24, 2010
Great job, Mike. This episode is truly one of S1´s gems and your (re)review is really spot on.

"The Pack" | View Comments18 | buffyholicNov 17, 2010
I love how Willow doesn´t fall for his act. Not only is Willow intelligent but they are treating their audience intelligently too. And this trait follows her, remember Parker in Beer Bad? She also seems to be falling for him, but then she totally shames him.

"Never Kill a Boy on the First Date" | View Comments19 | buffyholicNov 13, 2010
Loved your rereview and I think you gave it more points this time.
This episode is one of my favorites mainly because it shows how Buffy wants that normal life but sometimes is hard. That speech from Giles is beautiful!

"Teacher's Pet" | View Comments20 | buffyholicSep 26, 2010
Great work. I remember skipping this episode when I was showing Buffy to my cousin.
And an episode that I skip myself when I do my rewatches.

"Witch" | View Comments21 | buffyholicSep 26, 2010
Really good rereview. This is actually one of my favorites in S1 and I just find it adorable that all the characters here are all so innocent. Also, Willow is the cutest!

"The Harvest" | View Comments22 | buffyholicAug 29, 2010
I am having so much fun with the characters that the plot doesn´t bother me.
And how cute is Willow here?

btw, I think you going through the series again to polish up your reviews is a very good idea.

"Welcome to the Hellmouth" | View Comments23 | buffyholicAug 29, 2010
mike, great job. This re-review is amazing and I love how you´re picking on things from later seasons. This is the amazing thing about rewatching: we´re always finding and adding new layers.

"Ten Things Buffy Does Best" | View Comments24 | buffyholicJul 22, 2010
shellroth, I´m with you on that. Ever since I discovered Buffy, I´ve been comparing it to other shows and I´v been trying to see what I saw and still see in Buffy, but I get disappointed most of the time.

btw, your idea is not bad. I would love to see Mike´s take on Angel. But I don´t want him to take over the reviews, I think it would be interesting if they shared the reviews. Have mike do the reviews when Ryan is unavailable or maybe have Ryan and Mike write 50-50.

"Ten Things Buffy Does Best" | View Comments25 | buffyholicJul 21, 2010
This article reflects exactly my feelings. Thank you, mike for a job well done.
I also learn new things and have a better understanding of the characters and situations everytime I watch it. The fact that Buffy gets better with repeated viewings is something that I´ve never experienced with another show.
This show truly changed the way I view tv and your reviews gave me a more deeper understanding of it, as well.
I also plan to show this article around.

"Season 7 Review" | View Comments26 | buffyholicJul 19, 2010
Wow, I am stunned! Mike, you really outdid yourself this time! This is a wonderful review, from start to finish. Not only you provide an amazing S7 review, but all you say about Buffy in the "series retrospetcive" reflect my feelings as well. And wow, what an amazing job.
I also have to say that Buffy has too changed my life and how I view tv.
Kudos, mike. You deserve it.

"Empty Places" | View Comments27 | buffyholicJun 29, 2010
I´ve just noticed something: this Buffy that we see here, cold and detached, is exaclty what Buffy feared that her slayerhood was doing to her in "Intervention". That being the slayer meant being cold, detached and here she almost becomes that.

"Touched" | View Comments28 | buffyholicJun 28, 2010
This also shows how difficult it is to lead. That opening scene shows clearly how hard it is. Faith presents an idea, and everyone disregards it, even Xander starts joking that they should write a letter when Faith suggest kidnapping one of the Bringers.
And I still love how this show leads a lot with gray areas. This is not black and white, but gray areas. And I love it!

This is my fourth rewatch of the entire series, but this themes just fascinate me.
And the Buffy/Spike also still fascinates me to no end.

"Get it Done" | View Comments29 | buffyholicJun 27, 2010
I see that Buffy is doing a wrong approach, but the Potentials don´t do much besides whine and complain. Yes, Buffy shouldn´t impose herself like that and she clearly needs to be challenged later on, but I´m siding with her most of time. Because they all expect Buffy to do everything right, and Potentials don´t wanna fight and no one comes up with a plan. I mean, if Buffy has a plan, they complain. If she has a plan and it fails, they come down on her and if she doesn´t know what to do, they come down on her.
Honestly, I understand both sides, and Buffy is definitively making a wrong approach, but I´m on Buffy´s side most of time. She´s not Wonder Woman and it´s completely unfair to put the weight of the world on her shoulders.

"Normal Again" | View Comments30 | buffyholicJun 13, 2010
This episode is still breathtaking, and this time around (my fourth rewatch of the entire series) this ep hit me even harder and I ended up sobbing during Joyce´s speech. Her speech is really what gives her the strenght to abandon the fantasy.

btw, mike, have you noticed that this speech and Riley´s one, who have Buffy strenght to overcome her depression, are from people who are no longer actively in her life? That is one more thing to show us that the Scoobies are drifting apart more and more.

"Once More, with Feeling" | View Comments31 | buffyholicJun 13, 2010
Again, Xander´s trait of "seeing only what he wants to" comes to play: he summoned the demon because he thought there would be only music and dancing, and happy endings, he never thought of any badness that could ensue.

"After Life" | View Comments32 | buffyholicJun 7, 2010
I´ve just noticed something now: Spike hitting his hand against the wall in his crypt reminded me of Xander hitting the wall in "The Body". Both wanted to feel something other than the numbness.

"Fear, Itself" | View Comments33 | buffyholicMay 10, 2010
A great line is:

Buffy: Thank the Lord!
Oz: You´re welcome!

mike, in the section of foreshadowing you said that the line about everyone leaving her mentions The Yoko Factor but I also think it can be related to "Empty Places".

Plus when the demon says to Buffy that she will be always be alone, no matter how hard she fights can be related to her Slayer status. She works so hard to be normal and have friends and a normal life, when it comes to Slayerhood she will always be alone.

"School Hard" | View Comments34 | buffyholicApr 8, 2010
Maybe this doesn´t mean anything, but when Joyce is watching Buffy through that hole in the door while Buffy is slaying, I instantly remember "Restless" when Buffy encounters Joyce living in that wall. And in S4 like in here, Joyce is cut off from her life, a bit distant from her life.

Hey, this is the original buffyholic. Just to say that the last post by "buffyholic" have not been made by me and I appreciate the support given by Sam and Shannon. You guys already know me!

Mike, about the S7 review, can I make a wild guess? I bet you´re gonna post your review on your birthday.

Just come to notice, that this is the second worst 'point scorer' in the Top 25 yet it is in 15th place. I think your absolute stupidity in grading this episode is what caused it's downfall to a miserable 92 points. you suck.

"Chosen" | View Comments38 | buffyholicOct 15, 2009
Thanks, Mike for one hell of a review. Although I would love to see you give this a perfect score, I agree with you on the plot holes. But, see this is why I would never be able to review a show with this much analysis because I am bias. Yes, I agree with that there are plot holes, but I have so much love for this finale, and yes I cry a lot. I can´t find enough words to describe how wonderful this is and how I love it to death! I am bias with Buffy, so analysing it with so much detail like you do is impossible for me!

On the foreshadowing section, this may be stretching a bit but Spike´s dream may signify what will happen to him. Footwear is what we use for protect the feet or better the sole. And when we say sole, it looks like we´re saying "soul", so that dream may imply he´s drowning in his soul, that he will know to do with his "soul".

"End of Days" | View Comments39 | buffyholicOct 9, 2009
I agree with your review, this episode leaves much to be desired. Not my favourite either. But I am so glad you pointed out Buffy being on good terms with all of them so suddenly because it bugs me a bit too. I don´t know, maybe I was expecting an apology from everyone, although I love, love the talk between Faith and Buffy and the wheelchair fight.
Like you said, messy episode but watchable.

"Touched" | View Comments40 | buffyholicSep 30, 2009
Great review, mike. And I completely agree with the score as well. It´s so nice to see that someone else, other than me, thinks this episode is awesome and that is completely all about the characters. I get the feeling that most people hate this episode and it´s unfair. And I´m also glad you mentioned one of my favourite scene in this episode: the scene where the First Evil is talking about how it misses feeling a neck snap. Wonderful and SMG nails it.
But really, this review illustrates what I feel about the episode.

btw, the new site is very good. Very shiny!

"Empty Places" | View Comments41 | buffyholicAug 17, 2009
@Jason:One of the things I really like about this season is how they all seem to distrust one another, even close friends like these. Throughout the whole season, there´s been distrust not only with the Potentials regarding Buffy but also the gang and Dawn. This has not been an easy season.

@mikejer: I don´t feel the scene is OOC, imo. It makes me mad as hell, but I don´t think it´s OOC. Sure, Faith did awful things to the gang but Buffy is putting them into a difficult position. She says that she is the only slayer available, the only one with power but there´s Faith, someone who did despicable things and tried to kill them, but she is someone who is a slayer and someone who they think will be different than Buffy. I love Buffy to death and I mostly agree with her, but she gets me so mad when she says that she is the only one strong enough, so we should follow her.

btw, I am so glad you put on that comment by Rona. I really hate her.

"Empty Places" | View Comments42 | buffyholicAug 15, 2009
But I think that had nothing to do with leadership or even Faith, they just wanted a change. Don´t forget in the next episode, Faith is being treated as the enemy already by the Potentials. Being a general or pleasing everyone is hard. Faith was viewed as someone cool, someone anti-Buffy and anti-rules but as soon as she steps in, Faith is immediately viewed differently and already having hostile comments by the Potentials. So, what the hell do they want? I´m thinking they wanted to rule themselves.

"Empty Places" | View Comments43 | buffyholicAug 14, 2009
@Shannon, I agree. The negative aspects of this and the other seasons do not diminish my enjoyment at all. I still love it to death and well, nothing is perfect.

About Buffy being kicked out, there is one thing that bugs me afterwards. It just seems no one apologised to Buffy on their behaviour, like a "Sorry we kicked you out, it was a mistake". I love the talks she has with Faith and Xander, but all we got from the Potentials was Amanda saying that they were being punished and I would like to see an apology, at least.

Am I wrong?

"Empty Places" | View Comments44 | buffyholicAug 13, 2009
Great review and I totally agree with you. Can I also add that I find this episode a bit slow, too? But my main problem is the final scene, it makes me scream and shout.

Maybe I´m a bit bias but I´m with Buffy all the way. I mean, yeah she makes big mistakes but hey, she didn´t ask for this huge responsability and she is always being blamed for everything. It´s totally unfair to her. And I can´t shake the feeling that this is an ambush. I mean, what is Wood doing here? And Anya is being unfair and ungrateful.

One thing that you forgot to mention, mike was how Buffy was being a little out of line with Faith saying to the girls that she was a murderer while Faith was being totally cool with her.

Keep it up!

"Dirty Girls" | View Comments45 | buffyholicAug 12, 2009
wilpy, you showed me another perspective of the episode that I never thought about that, about how they objectify women and see them in "dirty" roles. Also, I´be already heard the commentary twice and it´s a real treat.

About Buffy falling for the trap, I honestly think this is not the writers´s fault,it´s a character flaw of Buffy´s. Ever since we know her, she has always falling for traps and sometimes, she knows that they are traps but she lets her emotions get in the way most of the time. Remember than in Lie to Me, she says that her flaws are being rash and impulsive, also when she is hurting or mainly frustated she doesn´t take the best decisions. So this is entirely in character.

"Dirty Girls" | View Comments46 | buffyholicAug 10, 2009
This was well worth the wait. We have another amazing review.

I feel this episode grows on you. I mean, the first time I saw it I didn´t like it very much but now it´s one of my favourites.

Can´t wait to see your opinion on Empty Places.

"Lies My Parents Told Me" | View Comments47 | buffyholicJun 19, 2009
Can I also add that Spike´s or William´s poetry was really bad? No wonder he had the nickname of "William the Bloody" because his poetry really sucked.

"Never Leave Me" | View Comments48 | buffyholicJun 18, 2009
The conversation between Buffy and Spike is fascinating, especially the one in the basement where Spike tells Buffy that she has to kill him. I parallel this talk with the one in "Dead Things". In here, Spike wants it all to end and Buffy tells him that he has done noble things, has saved people but Spike tells her not to rationalise what happened into something noble. Back in "Dead Things" it was Spike who was telling Buffy not to throw her life away, that she saved lives, that the balance was in her favor and Buffy wanted it all to end. Of course, Spike didn´t have an understanding back then, but still I always connect this episode to "Dead Things".

"Lies My Parents Told Me" | View Comments49 | buffyholicJun 12, 2009
Maybe we could move this wonderful discussion to the forums! This is exciting! I mean, I never thought S7 would provoke such discussion.

All I have to say is that I understand both sides and I believe Buffy needeed some thing drastic to make her see she was doing things the wrong way, but also I really dislike what they do to her. It´s a really gray area, for sure.
As for Giles, it´s completely in-character what he does in LMPTM. He loves Buffy and the Scoobies, but when it comes to the hard talk, he does it and he doesn´t let feelings get in the way. But like I said, very gray areas.

"Lies My Parents Told Me" | View Comments50 | buffyholicJun 9, 2009
Wow, amazing reviews, guys! You nailed the episode perfectly and I completely agree with the both of you, and the score is just right! I know that I am saying this alot especially to you, mike (our tastes are somewhat similar) but this review is just spot-on in my feelings and love for the ep. I love how this portrays all the major players, especially Buffy and Spike.
Excellent work, both of you! I know that I could never do something like that, so congrats.

"Villains" | View Comments51 | buffyholicJun 1, 2009
There will come a day where you will give this episode a Perfect score, mike.

"Grave" | View Comments52 | buffyholicJun 1, 2009
When Willow tells Giles that he was and still is jealous, I thought immediately of "Touched", of what Spike tells him and I just can´t help to think of it as true. Buffy in S7 outranks him, she doesn´t need him anymore and he feels resentful for it, imo.

Also, this time around, I looked at Willow´s plan for destroying the world differently. In ending the world, she is feeling superior to Buffy in a way. She says to Buffy that she is always fighting to save people but in the end it will be her (Willow) to end the suffering. That goes along the lines of Willow being tired of being the sidekick, of wanting to be the Slayer.

"Wrecked" | View Comments53 | buffyholicMay 28, 2009
What is going on with Buffy is just so juicy. This material just blows me away and it´s just too delicious to ignore. They dropped the ball with Willow, sure but what is going on with Buffy/Spike and its parallel to Willow is amazing and compelling to watch everytime.

"Storyteller" | View Comments54 | buffyholicMay 26, 2009
This episode rocks and your review is pretty good, although I thought you were gonna rate it a bit higher. I mean, I agree with the confusion about the Seal but that doesn´t even touch the awesomeness of it, imo.

btw, I am anxious to see your take on LMPTM.

"Get it Done" | View Comments55 | buffyholicMay 19, 2009
Sam is right. It´s amazing how much love S7 is getting from Mike. Despite its flaws, it totally deserves the love it´s getting. And I think a lot of people neglect all the positive qualities it has.

"Get it Done" | View Comments56 | buffyholicMay 18, 2009
Excellent review, mike. You highlighted all the points perfectly, especially concerning Buffy. I find Buffy totally fascinating this season and I totally agree that this episode is underrated. For me, it´s fascinating and it´s on my top 25, so you see how much I love it!
But seriously, Mike, your review just exemplifies my thoughts on it.

YOU ROCK!!!!!!

"Tough Love" | View Comments57 | buffyholicMay 13, 2009
I notice the strangest things sometimes. Just look at Buffy´s hair. Up until "The Body" her hair changes a lot: curly, frizzy, just lively and from "The Body" onwards her hair is just long and straight. For me, that symbolises the changes in her life. How she went from cheery Buffy to sad.

"Out of My Mind" | View Comments58 | buffyholicMay 8, 2009
When Buffy tells Riley that he "has to live" he says that she probably says that to all the guys and I remembered Angel right away. In Graduation pt 2, she says to Angel that "he has to live". Just a funny observation.

"Restless" | View Comments59 | buffyholicApr 28, 2009
Rewatched this again yesterday and I feel amazed by it each and every time.
Just some more thoughts:

Willow´s dream: Oz says "I´ve been here forever". I take that comment as Willow telling us that Oz will always be a part of her. It doesn´t matter how much she´s changed or where she´s heading, he will always be a part of her, he was her first love. That connects directly to "New Moon Rising" where she tells him that there will always be a part of her waiting for Oz.

Xander´s dream: Right before FS/his dad rips his heart, his dad tells Xander that he doesn´t have the heart to change things. Again, that makes me think of his problem this year, he feels inadequate and fears he doesn´t have the heart to change his life. He still doesn´t trust in himself.

This is really a masterpiece.

"First Date" | View Comments60 | buffyholicApr 27, 2009
Mike, you totally rock! I mean, on one review I think you´re being a little harsh, but then on another (this one) you totally surprise me. I guess that´s the wacky thing about reviews, like you say!

Returning to the episode, I feel your review is amazing and expresses my love for this episode. The Xander part is the one part that doesn´t click in this great episode. And I have to say I don´t get why people are so harsh with this episode.

Great review, very good score and I´m glad no one beat me to death with a shovel (with words of course) over "The Killer in Me".

I am happy!

"The Killer in Me" | View Comments61 | buffyholicApr 25, 2009
Can I just say that I´m afraid of all of you right now? Because I really enjoyed this episode. Sure it has problems: I really dislike what they do with Giles, it seems forced but the part where all Scoobies hug him is fun as is the little talk with Buffy about meeting rasta mama slayer, that always crack me up! I don´t like the use of the Initiative, they said to burn and cover it with salt at the end of S4. But I do like their interaction with each other. The Willow/Warren/Kennedy was really well-done for me, including their little date. And I like Kennedy, it just seems right. Of course they´re not gonna last but Kennedy is giving her some confidence, something she lacks in S7 due to her magic issues. And AH and AB did a great job and for me, it worked out great and the last scene is heartbreaking and totally earned. It doesn´t mean that she is over Tara, it just means that she is able to move on and until now, she felt she couldn´t move on, she felt she was disrespecting Tara.

So, mike, I agree with your review but you could have give it a higher score.

"Potential" | View Comments62 | buffyholicApr 20, 2009
Mike, great review but I gotta disagree with the score. I think this warrants at least an 82. First off, I have no problem with "my death can make you the next slayer" comment because I see it as Buffy giving them a bit of tough love, she is trying to get them into action fast and another reason is also Buffy´s superiority. She is always talking about how she is the one with the power, that they have to do what they say and even with Faith there, she still feels the only one with enough power to lead them.
I think Dawn was put into good use here, she finally accepted her place in this world. In S6, she had nothing to do because she was no longer the key and since everyone was messed up and never paid any attention to her, she was feeling lost and here in S7 she was hoping that being a Potential would connect her again with Buffy. At the end, she found out that Amanda was the chosen, so she gave her her power and like Xander said, that was extraordinary! And I believe that Dawn from this point on, is more confident in herself.
So, I think her part worked out great, as well as the Potentials training. There was comedy with Andrew and a good pace.
I really think you were a bit harsh.

"Showtime" | View Comments63 | buffyholicApr 17, 2009
Sam, you´re being a little harsh with Potential. The episode is actually pretty good and I like all the Potentials here, plus Buffy teaching them and that opening scene is great.

"Bring on the Night" | View Comments64 | buffyholicApr 14, 2009
Very good analysis, mike. You really nailed down the pros and cons of the episodes, and I agree with your score.
I just want to add one thing that I don't like here and other episodes and that's how everyone is just expecting Buffy to do everything right, have all the answers when clearly she is bound to make mistakes. and when she does them, everyone just points their fingers at her.
That's all I wanted to say.

"Showtime" | View Comments65 | buffyholicApr 14, 2009
You forgot to mention this is the episode Rona shows up! Rona is another annoying Potential that I really hate.

But back to the episode, you did a really good job! I also find the episode very poor, especially the dialogue which I find very forced.

"Never Leave Me" | View Comments66 | buffyholicApr 13, 2009
Again, great review. You really analysed the episode perfectly and I gotta tell you that I wouldn´t be able to do this kind of reviews. I mean, I can be objective even with a show like BTVS that I love but I wouldn´t be able to make a thorough analysis like you do. So for that, I applaud you.

But it´s great to see you give the much-needed love S7 deserves.

Keep the good work!

mike, awesome review. And I am so glad you gave this episode the recognition it deserves, I too feel this is very underrated.
One thing that I want to add is SMG as the First. You say James Marsters does a wonderful job and his acting range is great (it's true), but SMG is also great and completely nails it, as Buffy and as the First.
Keep the good work, mike!

"Conversations with Dead People" | View Comments69 | buffyholicMar 26, 2009
Tom: I also think that not having Tara is more powerful and effective. And the explanation by Cassie is totally okay by me. It remind us that the writers are not letting Willow off the hook so easily. And of course, the whole scene breaks my heart due to the wonderful Alyson Hannigan.

Adam, I can see why you feel that way about S7 mid way, because I feel it does lose its steam, mainly due to the Potentials but don´t give up on the episodes entirely because they still have merit.

And I also add that S7 has a lot of underrated episodes, imo and I´m looking forward in reading mike´s future reviews.

"Conversations with Dead People" | View Comments70 | buffyholicMar 23, 2009
Wow, excellent review, mike! Your review is very insightful and also full of love. I also never noticed closely the song as you did, and that's another thing I found out. Amazing. This episode is truly one of the best, since Buffy's conversation with Holden (pure gold) to Jonathan's speech. Awesome stuff.

Keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to your next one. Is it just me or are "Sleeper" and "Never Leave me" underrated episodes?

"Him" | View Comments71 | buffyholicMar 10, 2009
The last minutes are hilarious, really! Whenever I see Buffy trying to kill Wood or Willow trying to make RJ a woman, I just can't stop laughing.
mike, it's funny you mention S1 because this episode does have that early season feel to it. Another good moment I always find is when Willow and Anya fall for RJ, the music is "Theme to a Summer's Place" and that takes me back to Oz, in Inca Mummy Girl when he says that he wants a girl with a taste for a feather boa and "Theme to a Summer's Place"

btw, mike, don'take this the wrong way, but I think you might have a crush on our Buffy.

"Selfless" | View Comments72 | buffyholicMar 6, 2009
Mike, great review. The analysis you made was great and even managed to slip in some new information I've never noticed. Also, the fact that I relive the episode in my mind makes me very happy.

About S7, I just want to add that, had I listened to some reviews of S7 on the other forums, I wouldn't even care to see it. But gladly, I did (thanks to some people here that told me to keep an open mind) and I couldn't be happier! I also agree with WWS, I wouldn't trade my Buffy for anything else. I agree, it is flawed but it also takes risks that other shows are scared to take. Flawed but awesome, nonetheless.

"Beneath You" | View Comments73 | buffyholicMar 2, 2009
Great review, mike. You really nailed the final scene perfectly. I also don't see how people view Spike as having too much development. Honestly, Spike's arc and Buffy's arc are one of the reasons I love this season. I also agree with your score and I have a great love for this episode. The monster is lame, but the character interaction is too good!

"Same Time, Same Place" | View Comments74 | buffyholicMar 2, 2009
I love this episode also. The monster is super creepy, and Willow reconnecting with her friends is touching. The final scene just breaks my heart. Great episode, all around.
mike, there's another foreshadowing you forgot to mention. At least, I think it is. Buffy kills the Gnarl by poking out the eyes, in the same fashion Caleb does to Xander.

"Help" | View Comments75 | buffyholicMar 2, 2009
mike, great job and your reviews just make me relive the episode in my mind, and that makes me very happy. I agree with all your points, about not having much relevance regarding the rest of the season but this episode just gets a lot of love from me because of the characters and the Willow part. So for me, a solid 80.

Mike, I can't wait for your take on Selfless. I'm sure it's gonna be great.

"Lessons" | View Comments76 | buffyholicFeb 16, 2009
Great review, mike. The review is very insightful and also very full of love. While I was reading it, all the memories of the episode just came pouring out at me and I totally agree with all of your pro comments. I also love Principal Wood. In fact, I love the beginning of this season. I have to say we have somewhat similar tastes on some episodes.
Really can´t wait for the next one!

"Season 6 Review" | View Comments77 | buffyholicJan 23, 2009
Thanks for this amazing review, mike. It was well worth the wait! You pinpointed exactly what I love and dislike in S6. Two of my main reasons why I love it is Buffy and just the path they chose, daring risks.
Your review also illustrates my love for the season and characters. I gotta admit that we have similar tastes in some episodes and characters.

"Villains" | View Comments78 | buffyholicDec 8, 2008
Great review, mike, although at first I was a little sad the ep didn´t get a perfect score but still, this review is awesome and having a 97 sure cheers me up. I also agree with you when you say Aly steals the show. This ep is dark, chilling and just perfect in my eyes.

"Two to Go" | View Comments79 | buffyholicDec 8, 2008
Mike, you nailed all the cons and pros of the episode. I also don´t like some of the lines and also the scene at Rack´s seems odd to me. I also want to point out something I´ve never realised before: that Buffy is not the one to save Willow because she isn´t in that emotional state and thus unable to save her through love. I´ve only thought of the idea of love, pure love and not violence saving the day.
I´m always finding something new! I gotta say, Mike, that your reviews have made me understand with more depth and love Buffy in a more deeper way.

"Grave" | View Comments80 | buffyholicDec 8, 2008
These three final episodes are amazing and for me, wipe out any lagging moments in the season, like Willow´s characterization in "Wrecked". My only problem with this episode is when Willow is sucking Giles and says: "I feel so juiced, who´s your supplier". That line just feels bad.
But the end of the episode is just beautiful, with the yellow crayon speech and Buffy rising from the grave, this time to live.
Mike, as I said before, your reviews are constantly making me understand Buffy better. When you say that this season is all about wrong perceptions, about how one person thought highly of the other and got let down. You´ve shed another light on how I see the season and that is just awesome, Mike.

"Seeing Red" | View Comments81 | buffyholicOct 27, 2008
It´s great to have you back on reviews, Mike!
Amazing review, as always. You made some connections like with the red sheets that I´ve never noticed before. The near-rape scene is brutal and painful, but necessary.
This episode is great because of all the character work, when Dawn talks to Spike and the talk Xander has with Buffy, and I love how everything is on gray area.
Mike, I´ve said this before, but I´m dying to see your review of "Villains".

"Entropy" | View Comments82 | buffyholicJul 24, 2008
Great review, Mike. While I was reading it, I felt like I was watching it again and remembering why I like it so much. Like you, I´m also happy to see Buffy get back in shape.

"Normal Again" | View Comments83 | buffyholicJun 16, 2008
Amazing review, mike. You analysed this episode in a brilliant way and while I was reading it, I remembered what I love about it. I also agree with you about the tension between Spike and Xander that gets worse next episode. This episode is brilliantly acted, SMG does a stellar job and I love how they take a overused plot and make it into something brilliant, especially the part where Joyce is the one who helps Buffy get out of the depression. I also have to say that Dawn annoys me a little here because as usual she takes Buffy´s words as a way to turn herself into a victim, again.
But once again, awesome review and I totally agree with your score.
And I cannot wait to see your approach to other episodes.

"Hell's Bells" | View Comments84 | buffyholicJun 10, 2008
Great review, mike and I definitively agree with your score. Anya always makes me cry here. This episode shows how far she´s come, she finally knows love and knows what is to be human. Unfortunately, she finds out in a bad way, her walk down the aisle is just heartbreaking. As for Xander, I also blame him for his timing. In fact, I think Xander lets things fester for a long time, it´s like he doesn´t want to talk about things right away, in fear of hurting other people but by doing the way he does, it´s just much worse. Conclusion, this is a pretty good episode and, although painful, I really like to watch it.

I just want to add one or two tidbits you forgot. One is the last scene with the girls and Buffy´s shirt says "I survived" that I think it´s very poignant considering her state of mind this season and another is Xander´s kids:Joss and Sarah, taken from Joss Whedon and SMG.
kEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

"Dead Things" | View Comments85 | buffyholicJun 2, 2008
Good to have your reviews back, mike. It´s an excellent analysis and you made some great parallels that I didn´t even noticed. I totally agree with your perfect score, this episode is just mind-blowing. My favourite scene is when Buffy is beating Spike into a pulp because that tells a lot about her feelings and how she feels about herself.

"Older and Far Away" | View Comments86 | buffyholicJun 2, 2008
This episode has a lot going on, that sometimes people ignore. All that is going on with all the characters, mainly Willow and Buffy. Both of them are trying to fight the temptation. Willow is trying to avoid using magic and Buffy tries to avoid going to Spike for comfort and her own selfish desires.

"As You Were" | View Comments87 | buffyholicJun 2, 2008
Great review, mike. I agree with all of your points about Riley. In fact, that´s what I like most about the episode: Riley is the one who makes Buffy realise what she´s doing and not only that, makes her jump into action. Also agree about Sam.
Keep up the good work!

"After Life" | View Comments88 | buffyholicDec 30, 2007
Wow, mike, that was a wonderful review. I had no idea this was so underrated. I mean, this is an amazingly and fascinating episode to watch. SMG and JM are just wonderful here. I also agree with you about Willow, she´s very selfish here. I just wanna smack her when she says that she actually expected a "thank you" from Buffy. But really a wonderful episode and I´m glad you give it the score it deserves.

"Flooded" | View Comments89 | buffyholicDec 30, 2007
I agree with the demon, it´s lame. But I find this to be a solid episode with a lot of importance. What really gets me is Buffy looking at the running faucet in the beginning.

"Life Serial" | View Comments90 | buffyholicDec 30, 2007
This one is very funny. I mean, it has some flaws but I have a great time watching it. I can´t stop laughing about the mummy hand, it´s hilarious. And the trio is just pathetic, in an amusing way.

"All the Way" | View Comments91 | buffyholicDec 30, 2007
I don´t know why some people give this episode a hard time. I´ll admit it´s lacking in some areas, but still it has a lot of value. It seems that the two episodes focusing a lot on Dawn (All the way and Him) are very criticized by the fans. But I don´t know why.
But again, great review.

"Once More, with Feeling" | View Comments92 | buffyholicDec 30, 2007
mike, I love all of your reviews but there are three in particular that really express the love I have for them: Hush, Restless and this one. You nailed everthing in this review right on and my love for this episode is eternal, a lot of what you said is what I feel is amazing. Every part of this episode is awesome, even the cleaners in the streets with the brooms. I just love the effort and the fact that they used a musical to express the situation of the characters, not just "another musical".

"Bargaining Pt. 1" | View Comments93 | buffyholicDec 20, 2007
Very good review, mike. Most of what you say is what I love about it too. I´ve never seen an episode like this before, intense and really dark. I also have to say that I love how they brought Buffy back and have to deal with the consequences all season. Great stuff.

"Bargaining Pt. 2" | View Comments94 | buffyholicDec 20, 2007
I really don´t mind the bikers. What really fascinates me here is Buffy and how she´s feeling. Gellat is very good here.

"Doublemeat Palace" | View Comments95 | buffyholicDec 18, 2007
I agree with mike. The episodes may be a little mediocre but they still have a lot of importance.

"Doublemeat Palace" | View Comments96 | buffyholicDec 17, 2007
A very interesting review, mike. You really nailed all the right issues and I completely agree with your score. Actually, I´m glad that I´m not the only one who likes this episode. Sure it has problems but I still think it speaks alot about the characters. It´s a weird episode but we´re supposed to feel like that.
And I cannot wait for your next review. keep up the great work.

"Spiral" | View Comments97 | buffyholicNov 28, 2007
I have mixed feelings about this too. I don´t mind the winnebago and I love the fight on the roof. But I just can´t think as plausible the Knights, the whole army in Sunnydale chasing them. Doesn´t work for me. But what I loved the most was how depressed and cynical Buffy is. Everything happens to her and everybody expects her to do everything. of course she´s gonna snap and be all cranky and scared.

"The Weight of the World" | View Comments98 | buffyholicNov 28, 2007
Interesting ideas, themes in this episode. Love the speech by Glory and I love what´s going on inside Buffy´s mind. This is really about choices, whether is Buffy or Ben. Great stuff.

"The Gift" | View Comments99 | buffyholicNov 28, 2007
I don´t have a problem with the blood connection, really. It´s just all the emotions that are happening are far more important and the themes of the episode are so memorable. I don´t have enough words to praise this. I love it, from the first to the last scene. Amazing and at the end, I´m crying my heart out. Stunning action, drama and humour blended together to make an extraordinary finale and an extraordinary season. And once again, mike, really great job. Your reviews are amazing, insightful and just full of love for this series.

"The Body" | View Comments100 | buffyholicNov 27, 2007
This is a beautiful episode and a masterpiece but really painful to watch. SMG does a wonderful job here and the look on her face when she calls Joyce "the body" and she starts realising the truth is heartbreaking and the fact that there´s no music. I cry through the whole episode. Joss Whedon and team did it again.

"Forever" | View Comments101 | buffyholicNov 27, 2007
Great review, mike. You really gave it the rating it deserves. The episode is so dark but amazing. I also love that small touch with Giles, listening to the same music they listened in Band Candy. This one is another cryfest for me. Amazing.

"Intervention" | View Comments102 | buffyholicNov 27, 2007
I agree with mike here. How Willow reacts to the Buffybot is really OOC, especially with the Angel line. She calls him (Angel) stupid and Willow should know better. That really bugs me too. Aside that, this is a really funny episode, mostly with Spike and the Buffybot.

"Tough Love" | View Comments103 | buffyholicNov 27, 2007
I think Tara is a little worried about Willow maybe leaving her, but honestly I think she´s referring more to the magics she´s doing. She´s afraid for Willow, not of Willow. It´s a big difference but as always, Willow turns the argument upside down and misundertands Tara on purpose because it suits her. She never admits anything, she never admits misusing the magics. And then, she likes playing the victim. We see two examples of that: in Forever, she doesn´t admit to Willow about helping Dawn with the book and in Smashed, when she confesses to Amy that Tara left her for no good reason. For me, this is totally Willow and it´s a sign of good writing and continuity.

"Checkpoint" | View Comments104 | buffyholicNov 26, 2007
This is definitively A plus material. This is an amazing episode and my favorite scene of all is when Buffy stands up to the Council. Really amazing.

"Blood Ties" | View Comments105 | buffyholicNov 26, 2007
Really good episode. Everyone here is amazing and I agree with mikejer about Michelle Trachtenberg, she is really wonderful.
This is another one of my favorites.

"Crush" | View Comments106 | buffyholicNov 26, 2007
This is another wonderful episode in a wonderful season and I´m glad mikejer gave it the rating it deserves. I have to say that I also love Harmony in here: first with the sex games, acting like Buffy and then when she leaves, I always laugh at her line:
"No threesome". Unless it´s boy, boy, girl. Or Charlize Theron".

"I Was Made to Love You" | View Comments107 | buffyholicNov 26, 2007
At first I didn´t get this episode very much but now that I´ve seen it again and read your review, I understand it a whole lot better now and it´s cool to see that the robot is just a means to develop the characters even more, especially Buffy understanding all she needs is herself. And of course, the scene with the robot and Buffy in the swings is beautiful. Really well done.

"Into the Woods" | View Comments108 | buffyholicNov 24, 2007
I just don´t get why Riley gets so upset with the fact that Buffy doesn´t cry around him. That just bugs me but I think that Buffy is to blame too when she says it´s a slayer thing. She always does that, always faces the problems alone.
Although I think Buffy made a lot of mistakes as well (and it´s funny because she doesn´t want to face those mistakes), Riley was the one who really blew it. Instead of talking to Buffy in an honest way, he goes arounf being bit by vampires.

"Triangle" | View Comments109 | buffyholicNov 24, 2007
I don´t mind Olaf at all, I find it funny. But the reason why this episode works so well for me is of course Willow and Anya. Seeing the two of them sparring so much and trying to solve their issues is very good and very in character. But I also agree with mikejer about Buffy: her crying is out of character and really overdone.
This is one of S5 weaker episodes, although still pretty relevant and funny.

"Fool for Love" | View Comments110 | buffyholicNov 22, 2007
First of all, I love this episode so much that I don´t have enough words to praise it. So amazingly perfect: the acting, the directing, everything. The last scene is awesome, their facial expressions are wonderful. Love it!
Second of all, I have to say how much I love all your reviews, mike. Very insightful but we can see you have a lot of love for the series. And although I love all of your reviews, I have to say your S5 reviews, especially this one are some of your best reviews yet. Amazing analysis and love for these reviews.

"Shadow" | View Comments111 | buffyholicNov 22, 2007
I like this episode a lot. What brings the episode down a little for me is the snake. Bad CGI effects, the snake looks fake. But the rest is amazing and I have to agree with all of the previous comments about Riley. I mean, Buffy has some fault in the matter but I think Riley just can´t let go of his manner: he wants to be the strong one for the girl, he wants to be in charge and when that doesn´t work, he flips out.

"Listening to Fear" | View Comments112 | buffyholicNov 22, 2007
I had no idea this episode was so hated. It has no reason to be, it´s a pretty good episode.
I also wanted to cry with Buffy, because we know what is gonna happen later on.

"No Place Like Home" | View Comments113 | buffyholicNov 21, 2007
Amazing! That´s all I have to say. I was kinda surprised when I saw that NPLH had a perfect score because the first time I saw it, I couldn´t see the beauty of the episode. But now that I´ve seen it again, I totally agree with your review and your score. It´s just amazing, the combination of comedy, drama and action. The scenes with Dawn phasing and the fight with Glory are amazing. Perfect like you say.

"Family" | View Comments114 | buffyholicNov 21, 2007
I agree with Mikejer about Tara´s family. I don´t like it when they only see a black and white world. That bugs me a lot. But aside that, I just love when the Sccobies stick out for Tara and say she´s family. Very sweet and the final scene with Willow and Tara is also amazing.

"Buffy vs. Dracula" | View Comments115 | buffyholicNov 20, 2007
Amazing review, mike. You did a great job introducing us the themes of this season and, although this episode is funny, I love it more because of what says about the characters and what says about the upcoming themes of this wonderful season. The last scene with Giles and Buffy is wonderful.

"Real Me" | View Comments116 | buffyholicNov 20, 2007
This episode is a personal favorite of mine. Character development, Harmony and Dawn. Amazing.
I have to say that I too don´t understand all the Dawn hate. I think Dawn is a wonderful character and an amazing addition to the series and to this season.

"The Replacement" | View Comments117 | buffyholicNov 20, 2007
Amazing episode and once again, amazing review. I just love the character development from all the characters and I love how this episode shows us that, especially with Xander. Xander will get more confident as the series progresses.

"Out of My Mind" | View Comments118 | buffyholicNov 20, 2007
I also agree that the plot is contrived, but I just love this episode because of the amazing character interaction and dialogue. And I´m a big fan of Spike/Harmony dynamic. Realy great stuff.

"The Yoko Factor" | View Comments119 | buffyholicNov 8, 2007
Really cool fight scene between the scoobies. Willow is very insecure about herself, so she was easy to manipulate. This is adressed in Restless in a more fascinating way.

"Primeval" | View Comments120 | buffyholicNov 8, 2007
Exactly my point, Latoya. Buffy is the only loyal to their friendship. She is not easy to manipulate like the rest of them were.

"Restless" | View Comments121 | buffyholicNov 8, 2007
Amazing review, mike. You analysed perfectly. Everytime I watch this episode, there´s something I always notice and something else to say. I love all the dreams, but personally I love Buffy and Xander´s dream. Buffy´s dream reminfs me of what S5 is gonna be, and everywhere Buffy goes, they all tell her the same thing, that she´s a killer, she´s not supposed to have friends, family, a life but Buffy denies that. But Buffy has the dark side that FS/Tara tells her. I absolutely love the scene in the desert where she holds a card that shows her true strenght: her friends and btw, the shots at the desert are wonderful and the last scene with her looking at the soon to be Dawn´s room is beautiful.
Xander´s dream is very focused, since the beginning of the season, he´s been very lost and without ant direction and away from his friends that are at college. I love how he´s always trying to move forward, to keep track of his friends but always ends up in the basement. Amazing.
One more thing, when Xander meets Buffy in the sandbox, he says that she can´t protect herself from some stuff. I don´t know why but that always reminds of Joyce. It´s true that Buffy is the slayer and she hunts things and demons, but she can´t protect herself from something like a natural death and that´s what happens to Joyce.
Restless is a masterpiece.

"Season 4 Review" | View Comments122 | buffyholicNov 8, 2007
Aside the Adam and Initiative failure, I feel this is a pretty good season and I like a lot, mostly because of wonderful character development, truly outstanding episodes (Hush, Restless, Who Are You, Pangs, Something Blue) and the humor. I think the humor in this season is amazing as well.

"Who Are You?" | View Comments123 | buffyholicNov 7, 2007
I also love the care they have with small details. While in Giles´s house, SMG says the word "about" with the same accent that Eliza has. And one more thing, in the scene where she´s going thru her password, the expiration date is 5/01. Could this be some foreshadowing of Buffy´s death?

"Superstar" | View Comments124 | buffyholicNov 7, 2007
I kind of feel sorry for Jonathan in the end. They know he´s miserable in his life but they don´t do anything to help. They could have joined with the Scoobies, could have talked some more with him. If something was done by their part, maybe Jonathan wouldn´t fall back in the black arts and with the bad guys. Just a thought.

"Where the Wild Things Are" | View Comments125 | buffyholicNov 7, 2007
Ok, this plot is awful. Really bad but I like watching it. For me, Anya and Spike are a delight to watch.

"New Moon Rising" | View Comments126 | buffyholicNov 7, 2007
Very good review, mike. This episode is awesome regarding Oz, Willow, Tara, Buffy and Riley. They all have important developments in this episode and Willow/ Tara are just the sweetest thing. But I have a big complaint. Can you guess? It´s the Initiative. First, I hate their "demons bad, people good" policy. The world is not like that, especially the Buffy world and that makes the Initiative boys so one-dimensional to me. Second, they are very unexperienced and dumb. Instead of trying to capture Adam, they worry about capturing as many demons as possible. Really annoying!
But again, your review is very good.

"A New Man" | View Comments127 | buffyholicNov 6, 2007
It´s really cool to see the amount of hints we get of the soon to be failed relationship of Buffy and Riley. Riley is truly uncomfortable with her strentgh.

"The I in Team" | View Comments128 | buffyholicNov 6, 2007
I have to say that when Buffy shows up in the monitor menacing Professor Walsh is one of my favourite scenes of the episode. And I too agree that killing Walsh was a mistake.

"Goodbye Iowa" | View Comments129 | buffyholicNov 6, 2007
Yeah, I noticed that too. Really nice continuity. This is a very good episode but I agree that it could have been a lot better. For me, Adam is really boring.

"This Year's Girl" | View Comments130 | buffyholicNov 6, 2007
Any episode with Faith is really awesome. And I just love Faith/ Buffy dynamic. Mikejer, I feel the same way you do regarding Who Are You?. For me, what´s so great about the episode is how the body switching thing is used to say something about the characters, especially Faith.

"Pangs" | View Comments131 | buffyholicNov 5, 2007
This is hilarious. So many good things make this a very enjoyable episode, including Buffy´s obsession in having a perfect Thanksgiving, Spike tied in the chair, everyone thinking Angel is evil again and of course Anya. The humour is really amazing.

"Something Blue" | View Comments132 | buffyholicNov 5, 2007
This is another great episode. Spike/Buffy is truly hilarious. I love how she thinks she´s immune to the spell because she´s the Slayer, she thinks that later on "Him". And I find it very curious that in this episode they´re all sick of Willow´s moping and can´t stand it anymore. Did they all forget about Buffy? That when her life is crumbling apart she mopes a lot. Just an interesting thing to look at.

"Hush" | View Comments133 | buffyholicNov 5, 2007
Wow, amazing review. You managed to say everything I feel and love about this episode. Just one more thing, I think that from now on, Riley is gonna be uncomfortable with Buffy because of her strenght and leadership, even though he doesn´t say anything.

"Doomed" | View Comments134 | buffyholicNov 5, 2007
Okay, the plot is very, very bad but I think that the dialogue and character interaction is wonderful and really elevates the episode a little. The dialogue is very witty.
I think you were a little harsh on this episode. I think it deserves a 66, at least. But that´s my opinion.

"Beer Bad" | View Comments135 | buffyholicNov 4, 2007
The episode is pretty funny except the stupid guys grunting. That is not funny. Cave Slayer is very amusing and like mike, I like when she is spinning in the chair and when she grabs that girl´s sandwich. And I agree with the 65. It´s not great, but it´s certainly not bad.

"Wild at Heart" | View Comments136 | buffyholicNov 4, 2007
I agree with all that have been said here. This is really sad to watch, especially when Willow is crying her heart out and the final scene with her and Oz. I also have to agree with mike about the scene where Oz looks at the dorm wanting to go back but instead pulls himself together and goes. I love that small moment.

"The Initiative" | View Comments137 | buffyholicNov 4, 2007
I´m a big fan of this episode. So many moments that I adore and I think your review really mentions all of them. The Willow/Spike scene is extremely funny and truly one of my favorites of the series.

"The Freshman" | View Comments138 | buffyholicNov 3, 2007
This is a good episode for a season opener, a season of change for the Scoobies. My only problem with this episode is how they overdo Buffy´s sadness. It´s like: "do you feel sorry for her? If not, we´ll have a teacher throw her out, still not sorry for her? Well, she´s gonna be beat up by Sunday". They put out various situations so that we can feel she´s depressed and sad and away from her friends. It´s too much.
But besides that, I really liked how they depicted college and the feeling of being lost. I remember my first year at college and it was a mess. I was away from home, from my parents. I had my cousins and my brother there supporting but still I felt really isolated and depressed. I, even was thinking of dropping school and I wasn´t even eating. It was a very chaotic moment in my life but as time went by I got used to college and the support from all my family really helped. I think that they depicted that really well and since we all know Buffy too well, we know she gets depressed really quickly and doesn´t confide on her friends. I think her not confiding in her friends has to do as well with the Slayer part of her, the part where she is all alone and she is being hard on herself. I also loved the humour, really funny and witty.

Wow, this is very long. mike, if you wanna delete this, go ahead. You see, I identitfy with Buffy because like her, if I make a mistake, I get depressed and I´m pretty hard on myself too.

"Living Conditions" | View Comments139 | buffyholicNov 3, 2007
Okay, the demon part is lame but I have a lot of fun watching Buffy and Kathy sort things out. They really drive each other´s nuts. But I don´t like the fact that Kathy was really a demon, I think we could live without a demon threat and maybe dispose of Kathy in another way, maybe a vampire and then have Buffy feeling remorse for what she did to her and not being able to save her. That would a great idea.

"The Harsh Light of Day" | View Comments140 | buffyholicNov 3, 2007
I think this is a fantastic episode. And part of it is because I love how they dealt with the Parker issue. This is not gonna go away soon, she still mopes around for two or three episode but all of that feels natural and right. That shows us that Buffy is not some unbreakable hero, that nothing hurts her but the contrary. Buffy feels and hurts like the rest of us and that for me is great. I don´t like when in some movies or shows they show a hero that is completely flawless and unreal. This just doesn´t happen with Buffy. She really thought that Parker was a good guy and now she blames herself for falling for his act. Very good writing.
I also love the fact that Spike is back. This guy is amazing and him with Harmony is really funny. We get Anya back and she tries to figure out her feelings for Xander.
All in all, a very good episode focused on all the characters.

"Fear, Itself" | View Comments141 | buffyholicNov 3, 2007
This episode has it all: great character development, great laughs and some scary stuff. We delve right into the Scoobies and it´s great stuff. Willow´s part is amazing for me. Not only in the frat house but at the beggining of the episode we see that she wants Buffy to have fun and probably meet someone at the party. That just shows that she has no clue what Buffy is going through. I find it amazing because back in S3 and S2 she expresses the same thing. In S3 she wants Buffy to start dating again, most notably Scott Hope and in S2, in "IOHEFY" she suggests the same thing. That means for me that she doesn´t know what Buffy is feeling and that she doesn´t want to deal with depressed Buffy, she wants a happy Buffy. And in the frat house, she argues with Buffy because she wants power, she wants to be respected. I have to admit the whole "I´m the slayer, so you do what I say and I know what to do" is what irritates me a little in Buffy. This is gonna tie in with S7, "CWDP" where Buffy feels superior to others because of the Slayerhood. But still, very good development for all, especially Buffy and Willow.
BTW, seeing Anya in a bunny costume always makes me laugh

"Graduation Day Pt. 1" | View Comments142 | buffyholicOct 26, 2007
Amazing is all I have to say. Very good dialogue, the characters are all great and the ending fight scene is thrilling. Buffy and Faith are just awesome together.

"Enemies" | View Comments143 | buffyholicOct 25, 2007
I like this episode a lot, although I´m not too crazy about the plot. I couldn´t care less about Angelus here or even fake Angelus, he doesn´t bring anything to the arc. But my main reason for liking this so much is the wonderful character interaction and Faith and the Mayor. They are so great together and their relationship is really fascinating to watch. We have so many great moments, like when Angel punches Xander, Angel meeting the Mayor and my favourite when Faith is so confident in dissing Buffy down and saying stuff to her. Awesome. Really, all of these positive moments more than make up the poor plot, imo.

"Earshot" | View Comments144 | buffyholicOct 25, 2007
Amazing episode. We have plenty of laughs but also a vital message about life in general. I just love that Cordelia has no deep thoughts and in return says exactly what she thinks but Oz is the greatest by playing the philosopher. This episode mixes comedy with a very deep and meaningful message in a wonderful way.

"Helpless" | View Comments145 | buffyholicOct 24, 2007
Amazing episode and one who just gets better with each viewing. So many wonderful moments, like when Oz and Xander discuss the different types of kryponite, when Xander cannot open the jar or my favourite when Giles cleans the blood of her forehead. Wonderful acting, just wonderful.

"The Zeppo" | View Comments146 | buffyholicOct 24, 2007
This is a very unique episode and that´s one of the reasons I find this so amusing. Everything in this episode is seen through Xander´s perspective and I like it. Everything is so exaggerated like the apocalypse stuff or the scene between Buffy and Angel. Very funny.

"Bad Girls" | View Comments147 | buffyholicOct 24, 2007
I don´t think her actions are rushed and unnatural because her actions are supposed to be like that and the viewer is supposed to see that this side of Buffy doesn´t work, she´s not like Faith. Sure she has a darker side but she doesn´t let that control her like Faith does. I like this episode a lot also because of Wesley. He is introduced here as an idiot and the gang couldn´t care less for him. He plays everything by the book and has his notion of "right and wrong" and "black and white scenario".

"Consequences" | View Comments148 | buffyholicOct 24, 2007
The first two times I watched this I thought to myself this was good stuff, but now that I´ve seen it a few more times, I am completely in awe of this episode. This is excellent stuff. Excellent character development, especially Faith, Buffy and the Scoobies. Faith is a great character to watch and the comparisons between the two slayer´s lifestyles, attitude is just amazing. And it´s also interesting to see that the Scoobies will never be as close as they were in S2. The more I watch this episode, the more I get amazed by how excellent it is.

"Band Candy" | View Comments149 | buffyholicOct 23, 2007
This is a very funny episode to watch, especially Synder and Giles. I love how Synder is such a geek and needs to be accepted by Buffy and Giles is just great. For me, the only thing I didn´t like was the dialogue between Xander and Willow, it sounds contrived.

"Revelations" | View Comments150 | buffyholicOct 23, 2007
I´m not a big fan of this episode, mainly because of Gwendoyln Post and Xander. I really don´t like her, she bugs me a lot and well, I want to hit Xander on this one. I know he has a point in being worried but he took it a little too far and Buffy is also right in pointing out that he´s jealous. The intervention scene is very well acted but hard for me to watch because of Xander. I still love the interactions between Buffy and Faith and love the ending fight scene.

"Lover's Walk" | View Comments151 | buffyholicOct 23, 2007
Spike totally rules this episode, since the first scene to the last, he entertains and has a lot of great moments. I just love the tension between Buffy, Angel and him. And I also loved the scene with Willow, great tension. Another one of my favourite moments is Cordelia´s fake death and this is the first moment we really feel for her.

"The Wish" | View Comments152 | buffyholicOct 23, 2007
This is one episode that I just love beyond reason, it´s so perfect, so dark, so absolutely amazing. This gets better with each viewing. And not only the part of the wish, the first part with all the Scoobies, trying to deal with all that happenned is very good too. I love this so much that I can´t justify it enough, I just know this is perfect.

"Gingerbread" | View Comments153 | buffyholicOct 23, 2007
Good episode with very good dialogue and character interaction. But I find the episode a little unnerving.

"Anne" | View Comments154 | buffyholicOct 21, 2007
I really like this episode, actually I´m a big fan of the first four episodes of this season. Once again, we see that all of the Scoobies are more mature than last season and that´s refreshing to see. I so love the ending fight scene and the Joyce/Giles interaction. Really good episode.

"Dead Man's Party" | View Comments155 | buffyholicOct 21, 2007
I don´t mind the zombies very much, what I really care about is her reintegration back in Sunnydale. The only person who I think is a bit harsh on Buffy is Xander. I can get Willow, though. I agree with Spurious here; her friends don´t want to deal with Buffy while she is depressed and sad, they want her happy. I think their issues stem from that too. They wanted her to move on, that she would kill Angel and just move on and be all happy.

"Faith, Hope, and Trick" | View Comments156 | buffyholicOct 21, 2007
I don´t think his return cheapens his death in Becoming. I think we needeed some other resolution to their relationship and also I love what Angel brings to the gang: he causes more disruption between then than any other person or demon. And I also think it´s necessary to figure out what Buffy is gonna do. This season is about identity, so she needs to find a way to move on, to find her own life without him, since their relationship isn´t going anywhere else.
About the episode, it´s very entertaining. I just love the chemistry between Faith and Buffy. What I also find amusing is the whole gang loving Faith, considering what´s gonna happen in the next episodes.

"Beauty and the Beasts" | View Comments157 | buffyholicOct 21, 2007
Another entertaining episode. I just love that Angel retains the memory of Buffy and just kneels before her. She´s in for some pain ahead.

"Homecoming" | View Comments158 | buffyholicOct 21, 2007
This is pretty funnny and also insightful. It´s quite moving the speech Buffy has with Cordelia about wanting to be chosen for something else than slaying. Mr. Trick is also very amusing and so is the Mayor. Although I don´t like Willow/Xander relationship, I don´t think it´s out of character. First, it´s true that Willow has Oz now but a person never forgets that first special someone, their first crush, so she still has some feelings for Xander, she will always have a special place for him in her heart. Second, imo, Xander is acting mostly out of fear. It´s what Buffy told Xander in IRYJ, he was always the "belle of the ball" and was always the centre of Willow´s world and he´s afraid of losing that. In Phases, he gets jealous of Oz because he is building a relationship with her. And Xander is finding out he is not the center of her world anymore and that frightens him. Xander may not be in love, but what he feels for her is very strong and he doesn´t want to lose that.

"Becoming Pt. 1" | View Comments159 | buffyholicOct 17, 2007
This episode is simply amazing, it leaves me numb and nervous, especially the last part. But the flashbacks and what we learn about the characters is amazing and I don´t care about any minor flaws this might have, I love it. The famous library scene is also very well acted and it makes yell at Xander. I´m just as confused as Buffy but Xander is just harsh. One thing I don´t like about Xander is his constant hatred of Angel. In "Revelations", Willow tells Buffy that, when it comes to Angel, Buffy can´t think straight. That´s true but I also think that Xander can´t think straight too. His hatred for him is what makes his decisions. He says it´s because of his (Angel) actions. Maybe it is but he hates Angel more than anything and he just wants him gone. And I think this is completely in character with what we know of Xander; he sees things black and white, he accepts things at face value like Anya tells him, and he´s selfish and a little hypocrital. He is mad at Angel because of what he did in the past and present but what about Anya? She too killed humans before but no, when it comes to Xander´s business he turns a blind eye at the whole situation. Totally in character but one aspect that I don´t like about him.
Amazing episode and amazing review, mike.

"Season 2 Review" | View Comments160 | buffyholicOct 17, 2007
The more I watch this season, the more I love it. Absolutely heartbreaking, hilarious and important to our characters. Episodes like Passion, IOHEFY, Innocence and Becoming show a truly amazing and heartbreaking season and it even gets better with each viewing.

"I Only Have Eyes for You" | View Comments161 | buffyholicOct 16, 2007
Amazing episode. The story is good but when we combine Angel and Buffy´s story and Buffy´s need to be forgiven, this episode is just incredible. The final scene where they re-enact James and Grace´s final moments is thrilling when we see that it parallels Buffy and Angel perfectly.
Wonderfully done, wonderfully acted, just wonderful.

"Go Fish" | View Comments162 | buffyholicOct 16, 2007
This is hilarious. All of the humour is very timely and we see the characters having fun with the plot. My favourites scenes are Xander in speedos and the jokes about the oreo cookie and on why Angel didn´t like his (Gage) blood: "Any demons with high cholesterol?".
We needeed this episode, not for the plot (of course) but to relax before the heartbreaking finale.

"Phases" | View Comments163 | buffyholicOct 14, 2007
Gotta love this episode, there´s a lot of great scenes and wonderful dialogue. I just love Oz here, the scene where he talks with his aunt Maureen is amazing. I love him with Willow, so cute together. I think Willow, in every relationship, gives away her heart and soul, she loves the other person unconditionally.
One more thing, I was watching this yesterday and I noticed the following dialogue:

Larry: (refering to Willow) ... Let me guess. That little innocent schoolgirl thing is just an act, right?
Oz: Yeah, Yeah, she´s actually an evil mastermind. It´s fun.

I don´t know if this is any foreshawdowing but I remembered Dark Wilow right away.

btw, mike, I have a question for you, just for curiosity, why do you say you would rather have more regular humans than supernatural beings?

"Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered" | View Comments164 | buffyholicOct 14, 2007
One of the most funny episodes of the entire series. I´m laughing like crazy everytime. What I love the most is Buffy with the raincoat and the girl mob. It´s so funny to see that even the lunch lady is affected.

"What's My Line? Pt. 1" | View Comments165 | buffyholicOct 13, 2007
Yeah, the ice skating scene is sweet. I don´t mind the lock very much, maybe one of the plot contrivances. Once again, for me what really works is the wonderful dialogue and character interaction.

"What's My Line? Pt. 2" | View Comments166 | buffyholicOct 13, 2007
I like this episode better than the previous one, but I too get the impression that this could have been much better. I don´t like Kendra here, she annoys me a little and her accent is bad. But we have Oz, so major upside. And I love him with Willow, it´s so great.

"Ted" | View Comments167 | buffyholicOct 13, 2007
What realy gets me in this episode is the fact that Joyce doesn´t believe Buffy (her own daughter). Sure she was being drugged but still, that hurts Buffy a lot. Believing in Ted and not her daughter is really sad and a little unnerving.

"Surprise" | View Comments168 | buffyholicOct 13, 2007
I don´t have enough words to do this episode justice. This is simply amazing, from start to finish. I love Spike and Drusilla, a joy to watch everytime. Drusilla is very creepy and a great character. Love the acting of everyone involved in this episode. This is a truly compelling, funny and heartbreaking episode.

"Innocence" | View Comments169 | buffyholicOct 13, 2007
The "freeze frame" analogy is so sweet. Oz is a wonderful character and it´s great that he´s willing to wait for Willow.
I´m doing a marathon of all the seasons and right now I´m in the middle of S2, so I just watched this episode again yesterday and I tell you, this is an amazing episode. Of course, all of you know that but it gets better and I love it with each viewing. Really a masterpiece.

"Reptile Boy" | View Comments170 | buffyholicOct 10, 2007
This is a very enjoyable episode. Not the best of the series, of course but very funny due to the character interaction and dialogue. But what I like most about this episode is Cordelia. God, everytime I watch her the more I like her. She is very funny and her interaction with the Scoobies is also cool.
One more thing, I find it funny when Cordelia tells Buffy that spandex is one of her trademarks and in the next episode Xander says that he prefers his women in spandex. I like to think of it as a subtle foreshadowing of their future.

"Halloween" | View Comments171 | buffyholicOct 10, 2007
I agree with Nina, I also think that Willow as a leader is vey cool and it seems very natural to me. I really like when she freaks Giles and then he says "the ghost of what?". Very good episode, excellent episode. And I also like Giles as a badass.

"Lie to Me" | View Comments172 | buffyholicOct 10, 2007
It´s funny how the same show attracts different opinions. I like Ford, I think he´s an interesting character. I like how everyone is uncomfortable with him there. The vampire cult is very interesting and I like how Angel is explaining that things is not how they say but then another guy appears wearing the same outfit as him. And the last scenes are just priceless. Very good one.

"The Dark Age" | View Comments173 | buffyholicOct 10, 2007
This is a very average episode. I agree that this one has pacing problems and the demon is kinda poor but this is always good to rewatch because of the wonderful dialogue and character interaction.

"School Hard" | View Comments174 | buffyholicOct 9, 2007
This episode is just amazing! Spike and Drusilla are great villains. Spike walks in and changes the rules of the game (and of the series) for the rest of the season. Drusilla is very creepy,I love her. I also love Synder here, very funny. What more can I say? I love this episode.

"Inca Mummy Girl" | View Comments175 | buffyholicOct 9, 2007
I totally agree with your score, mike. I like this episode a lot, we can see the characters have fun with it and we have great dialogue and character interaction. And I like the mummy story. The story allows the characters to develop, like the talk about the Chosen One relating to both Buffy and Ampata. And of course, we meet Oz. Great character.

"Prophecy Girl" | View Comments176 | buffyholicOct 6, 2007
Although the monster shot is poorly executed, I don´t seem to care. I´m so wrapped in the emotions, with the characters that I don´t even mind the rest. My favourite scenes are the "I Quit" speech, so beautiful. And when Xander goes to Angel`s place. Talk about tension!
Great review once again, Mike. I can´t wait to start a new season.

"The Puppet Show" | View Comments177 | buffyholicOct 5, 2007
I really like this one. The plot is average but the characters have a lot of fun with it. I love the introduction of Principal Synder, a character I love to hate. My favourite scene is the end credits and also Synder`s remark about being avant garde. That always cracks me up.

"Nightmares" | View Comments178 | buffyholicOct 5, 2007
I love this one. We find alot about the Scoobies and the more I watch this episode, the more I love it. I love the scene where her nightmare dad tells her that him and her mom split up because of her because it´s so heartfelt. I love Willow´s nightmare and Cordelia`s nightmare too. She dreams of having bad hair and joining the chess club, really hilarious.

"Out of Mind, Out of Sight" | View Comments179 | buffyholicOct 5, 2007
I can relate to Marci, so I like this plot alot. The scene where she disappears in class amazes me everytime. She just wanted some friends but nobody noticed her, nobody cared. I also like the insight on Cordelia. She´s still very selfish but we see that she´s more than the usual shallow girl. I liked her speech on being lonely. It´s amazing how the characters change in a few episodes.

"Never Kill a Boy on the First Date" | View Comments180 | buffyholicOct 4, 2007
I love this episode, seeing Buffy trying to have a normal life but that is always complicated. Once again, I love the dialogue and the character interaction. I don´t mind the plot and Owen, but the most important is seeing Buffy trying to combine a normal life with the slaying. The last scene with Giles is priceless. Isn´t it weird that Giles wanted to be a grocer?

"The Pack" | View Comments181 | buffyholicOct 4, 2007
I´m not a big fan of this episode but this really entertains me. Seeing a dark, cruel Xander is really cool. I don´t have a problem with the students acting like hyenas, I think it´s a good premise. There are a lot of great stuff here: the scene where Xander tries to rape Buffy, the scene where they eat the principal (it´s amazing but everytime I see it, that schocks me) and my favourite scene of all, the dodgeball game. Very good dialogue, very good character interaction.

"Angel" | View Comments182 | buffyholicOct 4, 2007
This is a great episode. Another one of my favourites. The chemistry between Buffy and Angel is awesome, you can really feel the heat between the two. I love Darla, she and Angel are great together. Willow is still very cute. Her speech of death scales in a vampire is a hoot. Also, her little training session is very amusing.

"Welcome to the Hellmouth" | View Comments183 | buffyholicOct 3, 2007
I love this episode. For a pilot, this is very entertaining. We meet the characters (they are so cute here!) and we immediately fall in love with them and the show. The dialogue is amazing. I had a lot of fun rewatching this one again. Buffy and Willow are the cutest.

"The Harvest" | View Comments184 | buffyholicOct 3, 2007
I don´t even notice the slow pacing because I´m having so much fun with the episode. Yes, Luke is corny but I love the scoobies and I love the dialogue. The dialogue is what makes this episode so damn enjoyable. It´s nice to see them all cute and carefree here.

"Witch" | View Comments185 | buffyholicOct 3, 2007
This is one of my favorite in S1. I think the plot is really well done and I like Amy. Once again, the characters and their dialogue is what really amazes more. I just have to say how I love Willow. That scene where Buffy tells Xander he´s one of the girls is awesome just by looking at Willow´s face.

"Teacher's Pet" | View Comments186 | buffyholicOct 3, 2007
I like this one. Call me corny if you like but I do. The dialogue is amazing, sure the plot is bad but I enjoy it anyway. It´s one of my guilty pleasures

"Killed by Death" | View Comments187 | buffyholicSep 29, 2007
That was always something that intrigued me. Buffy pretending to be a superhero, like her subconcious was saying something about Buffy`s nature.

"Gone" | View Comments188 | buffyholicSep 5, 2007
Great review. You analysed it in an amazing way. All the points you made are very good. I also have to say that I was again surprised by your score. For me, I have to go with a 50, because I´m not a big fan of this episode. I like the kitchen scene, I like Buffy/Spike. I also like the final scene, great development. I like the episode up until the Doris/Buffy invisible scene. From then, I don´t like it very much. But still, this is not a bad episode and your review is great.

"Some Assembly Required" | View Comments189 | buffyholicSep 1, 2007
I´m sorry but I like this episode very much. I mean, the plot is weak but it´s very fast paced. but for me, the great thing is the dialogue, very witty and the interaction is great.

"I Robot, You Jane" | View Comments190 | buffyholicAug 30, 2007
Yeah, this episode is really poor for me. Although I say that no Buffy episodes is bad, this one actually is pretty bad. I don´t have the urge to see it very much. For me, the only good thing is Jenny Calendar and the dialogue

"When She Was Bad" | View Comments191 | buffyholicAug 30, 2007
I have to say this is a great opener. Everyone here is amazing, the dialogue continues to be awesome. My favorite scenes are when Buffy dreams that Giles is the Master; and the awesome Bronze scene: the music is awesome and Buffy is surprisingly a bitch, causing everyone to be uncomfortable. Very good, indeed.

"Choices" | View Comments192 | buffyholicJul 29, 2007
This is an awesome episode. Totally deserves the score. It has action and comedy. For me, my favorite scenes are the library scene, it`s just awesome. Go Oz. The trade scene where the Mayor gives out his speech and the scene Buffy/Willow is just so sweet. Buffy doesn`t want to admit it but she too believes in what the Mayor says.

"The Prom" | View Comments193 | buffyholicJul 29, 2007
Another awesome episode. I cry everytime when Angels breaks up with Buffy and then Buffy cries uncontrollably next to Willow. I think it`s awesome that I feel the same ways as the characters while on the prom. It feels like I`ve been with them in the same school and that is my prom too and of course, when Buffy receives the award, it`s just beautiful. It`s everything she wanted. Everyone was great here and that makes up for an unforgettable episode.

"Graduation Day Pt. 2" | View Comments194 | buffyholicJul 29, 2007
This is one hell of an episode. The last scenes where the whole school is fighting is amazing. I also love when Angel drinks Buff`s blood, it`s awesome, the music and the acting is a sucess. What the Mayor says about graduation it´s truly moving. Once again, I feel I´m a part of the Scoobies myself. Awesome stuff.

This is an awesome season, with amazing episodes like Choices, Earshot, The Wish, Amends, Lover`s Walk, Dopplegangland and GD2. Really, I love this season(I love all the seasons though). But I have to say I also miss the emotions of S2 and even S5. This, for me is an action packed and funny season.

"Wrecked" | View Comments196 | buffyholicJul 28, 2007
I agree, WWS. Everything not related to Willow`s drug adiction worked fine for me. But I still say that Willow underwent through really major changes.

"Wrecked" | View Comments197 | buffyholicJul 27, 2007
I also though this episode had major flaws, but I still like it. Scenes between Buffy and Spike worked very well for me, I loved the reanimation of one of Tara`s dresses(like you mentioned), that was awesome and just the scenes Buffy/Willow. For me, Alyson Hannigan did a good job in this episode. But I still say that, even though the Willow thing didn`t work out for me, I don`t know why but I don`t like when they`re comparing magics to drugs.
BTW, good review and I was still kind of surprised by your score. I feel that this episode, for me has a score of 55.

"Wrecked" | View Comments198 | buffyholicJul 27, 2007
I know what you`re trying to say, bookworm. But for me that doesn`t work. As for Rack, I only don`t like him in Two To Go.
I have to say that I don`t find any Buffy episode bad, even the average ones have some good qualities, like this one and please, don`t attack me but Gone and DMP have good qualities too.

This is a really great episode. It had everything working for me: comedy, action and great development for Willow. Anya is just wonderful, she was really a great addition to the show. All in all, a success.

"Bad Eggs" | View Comments202 | buffyholicJul 25, 2007
I am sorry, you may call me cheesy but I like this one. I know this is a very lame plot but it just feels like everyone is having fun(including me, having silly fun) and also is a good break from all the drama we`re going to have.

"Innocence" | View Comments203 | buffyholicJul 25, 2007
OMG, how I love this episode so much. So much is revealed here, I love every scene in this episode. Angelus totally shatters Buffy in the bedroom scene. The whole episode really gets to me, I am absolutely in fear for the characters, what might happen. But my most favourite scene is the last one where Buffy just lets the candle burn. I´m crying like a baby in that scene.

"Passion" | View Comments204 | buffyholicJul 25, 2007
I agree with the score. This is a perfect episode and one of my all time favorites. It`s funny because when I watch this episode I always get a weird feeling inside me, like I wanna cry uncontrollably. This is a creepy episode and everyone just gives outstanding performances.

"Killed by Death" | View Comments205 | buffyholicJul 25, 2007
I don`t like this episode very much either. I like some small scenes, like the last scene with the three of them together at Buffy`s house. I always like Angelus`s visit to the hospital and Joyce talking to Giles about Jenny. But I didn`t like the mosnter of the week and that flashback to Buffy`s cousin. I too felt that it came out of nowhere. One last thing: it creeps me out to see Buffy like that, so helpless and also the music surrounding the hospital. But still, this eepisode is watchable and deserves for me a 65 or 70.

"Becoming Pt. 2" | View Comments206 | buffyholicJul 25, 2007
I totally agree with the score. This episode is my number one, along with The Gift. From start to finish, we get to see amazing scenes, dialogue and comedy mixed drama. The scene you talked about, Joyce and Spike gets me laughing everytime. But for me,the scenes that affect me the most are Buffy and Joyce talk, where Joyce talks about kicking ker out really moves and of course when Buffy leaves town. Perfect episode.

"Season 1 Review" | View Comments207 | buffyholicJul 25, 2007
I agree. Although I like S1 very much, it´s very weak, the weakest of Buffy. The thing that surprises the most is the character development. When we get to the later seasons, we stand in awe thinking that the characters came from S1, all happy and not so concerned with all the things they would experience later on. When we see the entire series, we even watch to see S1 as a reminder of those happy days.

This season is just amazing, and I don`t think it`s just the fact of the latter half of the season(although that helps alot) but I think it is also the atmosphere of the season. Even the first half is mostly good. I think WSWB, Lie to Me, School Hard and Halloween are amazing. But from Surprise till Becoming are really one of the best episodes of the series, really heartbreaking. I love S3 but comparing the two, I prefer S2 because of the melodramatic effect it has on me and because I think episodes like Becoming 2, Passsion, Innocence, Surprise and IOHEFY are greater than some the best episodes of S3, even though The Wish and GD2 are awesome too.

Anne, you say exactly what I think about Dawn. I mean, sometimes I get so annoyed when they try to shield Dawn from certain things. At her age, sure Buffy was the slayer but she always had to make the tough decisions, always had to be the grown-up. But with Dawn, they`re constantly treating her like a kid, protect from certain things. What I mean is that they don`t expect maturity from Dawn. Buffy at 16 was a lot mature than Dawn. That`s why I think Dawn is very spoiled, very self-centered.

I agree. Dawn doesn`t know the terms of their breakup but she just wants them together, like a family. In a sense, Dawn is like Tara in the beginning:not really an active Scooby. She understands Dawn. That`s why she gets so happy when they finally get together and why she has such an honest opinion on killing Warren.

MrB, you are right. People keep focusing on the bad that thay don`t see or don`t want to see the good or even excellent episodes. But I agree, when watching on tv it`very slow to keep the season rolling. You have to wait another week just to see what happens. That`s why when I rewatched season 4, I liked so much more than when I see on tv.
On a side note, I am really impressed with myself. With some of the bad reviews of this season, I was afraid of it. It turns out that it is really the opposite, I really like this season. It`s so different, so fresh.

Great review, Mikejer. You nailed all the points perfectly. I too, don`t understand why this episode is so hated. I had a blast watching this. Even though the Willow/Amy thing was kind of silly, I couldn`t stop laughing.

I agree with both Rick and Jake?! but I still think that Tara should have stayed with her a bit longer. I mean, an alcoholic(for instance) needs help and support to deal with the problem, he cannot face it alone and Tara kind of did that. She left her alone, to deal with the problem all by herself. I´m not defending Willow, not at all. I think what Willow did is beyond excuses. Maybe they should an organization called "MA-MAGIC ANONYMOUS". By the way, it is scary to see Willow like that.

Love your review, mikejer. Although I would still give it a 90. I found it really hilarious, although it is no Something Blue and maybe I am a little corny but I liked the loan shark being a shark and his comments. Just one question: we know that Tara was right by leaving but if she thought Willow was using way too much magic, don`t you think she could have helped kick the habit instead of just giving her an ultimatum.
Keep up the good work, Mikejer.

Awesome review, mikejer. I loved how you tackled the season. I have to say I love this season, the direction they took. Like you, I like Glory but to me what really shines is the character development, beautiful episodes like "The Body", "The Gift" and more and exploring the nature of a slayer. All in all, I think this season rocks.
