"Out of Mind, Out of Sight" | View Comments2 | G1000Dec 10, 2010 I am on the record in stating that this is, without question, my least favorite episode of "Buffy" ever. I just found the whole metaphorical "girl disappearing" storyline to be so insufferable. Not to mention that Cordelia getting in trouble is a plot device that's used way too much. "Nightmares" | View Comments3 | G1000Dec 10, 2010 Nice to see this one knocked down a peg. I give it an F, but it probably improves on multiple viewings thanks to the viewer's knowledge about the characters. Still, not an episode I ever plan to re-watch. "The Puppet Show" | View Comments4 | G1000Dec 3, 2010 Wow. This episode really went down in your second review (wasn't it a B minus before?) I always kind of liked it. I mean, nothing brilliant... but it was an inoffensive and harmless stand alone with some neat twists and funny moments. B/B minus would be where I'm at, although I'm sure it loses something on multiple viewings. And the tag scene was priceless. "Conversations with Dead People" | View Comments5 | G1000Nov 27, 2010 I'd just like to weigh in on this whole "is Tara not being there better or worse?" controversy. I personally think it would have been amazing if Amber Benson had returned. To those who say it would have been too upsetting: go and watch "Passion", "Villains", or "The Body" again. This show was never afraid to do things like that. That being said, the way the writers handled it was still really good. "I Robot, You Jane" | View Comments6 | G1000Nov 24, 2010 I don't like this episode one bit, but I wouldn't call it even close to the worst "Buffy" episode ever. "Teacher's Pet", "Reptile Boy", "Inca Mummy Girl", and "Nightmares (I realize I'm in the minority on that last one) are all just as awful. And then of course there's "Out of Mind, Out of Sight". You want to talk boring... Still, I agree it's terrible. "Angel" | View Comments7 | G1000Nov 24, 2010 Best episode of season 1 by far (that's not saying much, though). A minus sounds just about right. "The Pack" | View Comments8 | G1000Nov 17, 2010 Still too high of a grade in my opinion, but it's nice to see this hideous episode drop a bit. I'm still amazed how good this show got mid-season 2, considering just how bad some of these early episodes really are. "Never Kill a Boy on the First Date" | View Comments9 | G1000Nov 13, 2010 This was one of the few small gems of season 1. I think it's in the B/B+ range: just a lot of fun. Now please tell me you've moved "The Pack" into the D range. "Season 1 Review" | View Comments10 | G1000Sep 15, 2010 John, got to disagree with you that a "cheesy, limping tenative BtVS" is better than just about anything else. Season 1 of this show was the single worst season of TV I've ever watched in my entire life. No, I'm not kidding. If it hadn't gotten better in season 2, I'd have never forgiven myself for wasting that much time with it. That's how bad this season is (apart from a few episodes like "Angel" and "Welcome to the Hellmouth"). "Inca Mummy Girl" | View Comments11 | G1000Sep 15, 2010 John, this episode is awful, but just power through until you reach "Surprise" and "Innocence". From then on, it becomes a totally different (and much better) show, although there are still a few stupid episodes to come. "Graduation Day Pt. 2" | View Comments12 | G1000Sep 13, 2010 Stillicho, very good points. A big reason why I'm not as big a fan of this episode as a lot of folks are. I still like it, but it's not that good. Part I was so much better. "Passion" | View Comments13 | G1000Aug 31, 2010 Just thought I'd mention that this episode contains my favorite piece of dialogue in the entire series. Jenny: How did you get in? Angelus: I was invited. The sign on the door. (Says something in Latin) Jenny: Enter all ye who seek knowledge. That whole exchange is just marvelous, and so creepy. "The Harvest" | View Comments14 | G1000Aug 28, 2010 I actually liked this one a lot, simply because I thought it was an acceptable conclusion to the opening storyline. It's not brilliant, but not bad. "Season 5 Review" | View Comments15 | G1000Jul 31, 2010 Big Time James, I'm with you on a lot of your criticsims of "Into the Woods". It's probably my least favorite episode of the entire fifth season. However, it truly is an exception (and I did still like it). You've got classic comedy episodes like "Triangle" and "Intervention" (well, most of the latter). Stunning drama in "The Body" and "The Gift". And of course, wonderful backstory episodes like "Fool for Love". You're entitled to your opinion, of course. But for me (and for a lot of other people, I think) this season stands head and shoulders above the rest of "Buffy's" seasons. "The Body" | View Comments16 | G1000Jul 30, 2010 mikejer, if there's one thing I'd suggest in your "polish pass", it's that you get over your repulsion about analyzing it. It's such a good episode that it deserves the kind of thorough review you've given pretty much every other episode in the series. Just a suggestion. "Ten Things Buffy Does Best" | View Comments17 | G1000Jul 20, 2010 Interesting article. While you're right that "Buffy" does all of this well, I'd still argue that there are other shows that do it better ("BSG", what I've seen of "The Wire" so far, etc...) On the other hand, "Buffy" did it first. And that does count for something. "Season 7 Review" | View Comments18 | G1000Jul 19, 2010 And you are completely right to place season 5 head and shoulders above the other seasons. It's unquestionably the show's best season. "Season 7 Review" | View Comments19 | G1000Jul 19, 2010 Great review. However, I apparently didn't like Willow's overall arc as much as you did. I thought she basically got lost in the middle of the season, after a strong beginning. And don't get me started on Anya after "Selfless". On top of that, Xander got almost zero development It really seems that Buffy and Spike were the only ones that got developed at all over the entire season, which was a huge problem that really drags it down. On the other hand, there were plenty of shining episodes (and very few bad ones). "LMPTM", "Selfless", "CwDP", "Sleeper", and "Touched" are all great. And "Chosen" is one of the best series finales I've watched, flawed though it is. Nice job. "The Gift" | View Comments20 | G1000Jun 19, 2010 This is my favorite episode of all-time. So stunningly dramatic and action packed, it's just flat-out amazing. "Same Time, Same Place" | View Comments21 | G1000Jun 14, 2010 Merry wrote: "This is one of my favorite S7 episodes, mostly because of Alyson's making me like Willow again." See, I never stopped liking Willow. The only time I really disliked her was when she and everyone else turned on Buffy in "Empty Places". I did enjoy this episode, though. "Normal Again" | View Comments22 | G1000Jun 9, 2010 Shiny, you're right that the fact that "Angel: The Series" exists kind of weakens the argument that Buffy's world might not be the real one. Nonetheless, it's still entirely possible that everything that happens to Angel could just be another fantasy inside Buffy's head. And I do love the character development in "Normal Again" as well. It's a depressing episode to watch, but it's riveting. It's also very scary to watch Buffy nearly kill her friends. I still find the idea that Buffy's world could just be a fantasy an intriguing one, though, and I think it's a serious possibility. It's something I wish the show had explored in a bit more detail. Come to think of it, they could have done something like that in season 7. Now that would have been awesome. Instead we got the Potentials, who were... just okay. "Normal Again" | View Comments23 | G1000Jun 9, 2010 I disagree that the fantasy world is clearly the asylum. To me, what made this episode so great is the fact that we never find out which world is real. "Season 5 Review" | View Comments24 | G1000Jun 9, 2010 It is an amazing season, and so much better than any of "Buffy's" other seasons. It's incredibly consistent (no episode earned anything less than a B from me), the main arc is great, and the character development is amazing. It also contains, in my opinion, the two best episodes of the entire series in "The Gift" and "The Body". "Triangle" | View Comments25 | G1000Jun 8, 2010 This one was my "Pangs". It was just so funny that I basically ignored the admittedly hokey plot. Loved that Olaf was brought back in "Selfless", by the way. "Season 6 Review" | View Comments26 | G1000Jun 8, 2010 Sam, if you're interested, I did review every episode of "Buffy" on my blog at ramblingsofg1000.blogspot.com/ They're not nearly as detailed as mikejer's reviews. I really don't know how he is able to analyze a series with this much depth and detail. It's pretty amazing (the review of "Restless" in particular is something remarkable). But I do have reviews up, and they're not bad (if I do say so myself). Note: my grading scale doesn't assign perfect scores. So an A is as high as it gets. And Saro, you're not alone in thinking Willow's "addiction" doesn't really deserve all the hate it gets. I too think it was a necessary part of Willow's seven-year journey. This is my second-favorite season overall, after the brilliant season 5. It's incredibly consistent (apart from the awful "Doublemeat Palace") and contains some of the best episodes in the series (including the immortal "Once More, with Feeling"). I really loved the shift from "Big Bads" to a more intimate focus on the characters. "Once More, with Feeling" | View Comments27 | G1000Jun 8, 2010 After rewatching it, it wasn't so much what Giles did that bothered me: it was the fact that the other Scoobies didn't even raise an objection. That felt out-of-character to me. Again, a very small complaint (since it was quickly redeemed in "Walk Through the Fire"), but an issue nonetheless. Note: I adore this episode. I nitpick because I care. "The Body" | View Comments28 | G1000Jun 8, 2010 Amanda, if you check out the forum on overrated/underrated episodes, you'll see that I have really changed my opinion of this episode after rewatching it. I now agree that it's a masterpiece, and that Anya's reaction is appropriate (for the reasons you mentioned). "Once More, with Feeling" | View Comments29 | G1000Jun 7, 2010 By the way, I would put Giles's decision to send Buffy alone to face this unknown demon in the small "con" category. It was a really dumb thing to do, and Giles wouldn't have risked Dawn's life in an attempt to make Buffy "grow up". Fortunately, he quickly realized his mistake during "Walk Through the Fire" (a wonderful song). Aside from that, the only complaint I have is Anya's bunny song. It was just completely out of place and too weird. But since it lasts about thirty seconds, I'm not going to make a big deal about it (especially since the rest of the episode is so brilliant). "Tough Love" | View Comments30 | G1000Jun 6, 2010 After watching the entire series (and rewatching "The Body"), I'd like to admit I was wrong about this episode being better than "The Body" or "Fool for Love". I still love it, though. "Dead Things" | View Comments31 | G1000Jun 6, 2010 I liked this episode, but didn't anyone else find it a bit too convenient that Buffy overheard the officer just as she was about to turn herself in. Plus, the main plot device is a bit convoluted. I think a lot of people overrate this one simply because it comes in the midst of a pretty mediocre string of episodes. It's good, but nowhere near worthy of a P score. "Season 1 Review" | View Comments32 | G1000Jun 5, 2010 By far "Buffy's" worst season. It's not even close. "Angel" is the only episode that even comes close to matching the best of seasons 2-7 (though I also like "Never Kill a Boy on the First Date", "Welcome to the Hellmouth"/"The Harvest" and "The Puppet Show"). The rest are absolutely terrible. It says a lot about how bad this season is that the four worst episodes of "Buffy" ever all came from here ("Nightmares", "Out of Mind, Out of Sight", "The Pack", and "Teacher's Pet"). Oddly enough, I don't hate "I Robot, You Jane" as much as most (although it's pretty bad). I honestly don't know how "Buffy" got a second-season renewal based on this season. I'm so glad it did, but I still don't know how. "Chosen" | View Comments33 | G1000Jun 4, 2010 From what I can tell, no one's mentioned the best part of this episode: Willow's "pierced tongue" comment and Dawn's reaction. Priceless. It was a good finale, but not great. Too many effects, not enough character moments. I'll admit, they did a pretty good job wrapping up each of the character's arcs (I loved White Willow), but the First turned out to be the weakest villain since the Master. And Angel's return did nothing for me. Terrific show, although far from the best ever. "Once More, with Feeling" | View Comments34 | G1000Jun 4, 2010 Also, I never got the impression that Giles was at all uncomfortable with Willow and Tara. What he was uncomfortable with was all of the other characters talking about their relationships in front of him (Xander and Anya, for instance). I don't know exactly where he gave you that impression, since I never noticed anything of the kind. "Top 25 Episodes: MikeJer's Favorites" | View Comments35 | G1000Jun 4, 2010 Okay, here's my list. First, the 10 worst: 1. Out of Mind, Out of Sight 2. Nightmares 3. The Pack 4. Teacher's Pet 5. Doublemeat Palace 6. Inca Mummy Girl 7. Reptile Boy 8. I Robot, You Jane 9. Bad Eggs 10. Go Fish And my top 25: 1. The Gift 2. Restless 3. Once More, with Feeling 4. Passion 5. Normal Again 6. Helpless 7. Fool for Love 8. Lies My Parents Told Me 9. Becoming (I and II) 10. Tough Love 11. Selfless 12. After Life 13. The Prom 14. Innocence 15. No Place Like Home 16. Hush 17. Seeing Red/Villains 18. Something Blue 19. Sleeper 20. Conversations with Dead People 21. Intervention 22. Blood Ties 23. New Moon Rising 24. Graduation Day (I and II) 25. Lover's Walk "Touched" | View Comments36 | G1000Jun 3, 2010 Excellent episode, though the fact that it comes right after the mediocre "Empty Places" hurts it a bit. For instance, I would have been more moved by the Willow-Kennedy stuff (and with Willow taking the final step in putting Tara to rest) had I not still been ticked off with her for the way she treated Buffy. Still, mostly great. Spike flat-out OWNED this one. "Empty Places" | View Comments37 | G1000Jun 3, 2010 What a disappointing episode. The revolt scene is one of the worst individual sequences I've ever seen this show do. "Lies My Parents Told Me" | View Comments38 | G1000Jun 2, 2010 Yes! This is the kind of episode that I'm looking for in season 7. Not tired old vampire plots or studies of characters I barely even know (see "Storyteller"). Superb stuff. "Storyteller" | View Comments39 | G1000Jun 2, 2010 See, I didn't love this one. It was well above-average, but overall I didn't think it was anything special. And I really resent how the characters I've spent the last month (which is about how long it's taken me to watch the series) falling in love with (Willow, Xander, Anya, Spike, and Buffy) sidelined to focus on Andrew, who I find kind of boring. The "living as gods" thing was funny, but overall I just didn't care. What was good was seeing each of the established characters from a fresh perspective. I liked that. "Once More, with Feeling" | View Comments40 | G1000Jun 1, 2010 I just realized I didn't comment on this episode. It truly is fantastic, although I'd rank it behind two other "Buffy" episodes (which I'll share once I'm finished with the series). Every song was amazing, and what's important is that it advanced the characters in meaningful ways as well. Incredible stuff. "Potential" | View Comments41 | G1000Jun 1, 2010 I liked this one a bit better than you did. I am questioning the decision of the writers to focus on Dawn and the Potentials rather than the "fab five" of Buffy, Willow, Xander, Anya, and Spike that I've spent the seven seasons falling in love with. Still, the action scenes were well-done. Buffy the teacher was pretty cool as well. And I loved seeing Clem again. "Same Time, Same Place" | View Comments42 | G1000May 31, 2010 I loved this episode for the most part, but the Gnarl stuff dragged it down from a possible A to a mere B-plus for me. It was just unnecessary for him to be so disgusting. It seems to me like the writers were saying here, "hey, why don't we see if we can make our audience gasp in horror and/or vomit?" Pity, since the rest of the episode was so amazing. "Season 6 Review" | View Comments43 | G1000May 31, 2010 I'd rank this as the second-best of th first six seasons, behind season 5 and slightly ahead of seasons 3&4. I really fail to get how this gets a B+, while season 2 (with an average episode grade lower than the average episode grade of this season) gets an A-. I realize that season concluded with a bang ("Passion", "Innocence", both parts of "Becoming"), but there were a lot of really bad episodes (particularly in the first half). I can't see giving that season anything higher than a B. This one was really good, though. The only terrible episode was "Doublemeat Palace". "Doublemeat Palace" | View Comments44 | G1000May 29, 2010 What an atrocious episode, apart from Xander and Anya. It was cheesy, stupid, gross, and lacked any real character development. I honestly don't know how you can give this a C and "Wrecked" a C-. This was worse than any episode since "Inca Mummy Girl". Bad, bad, bad stuff. "Wrecked" | View Comments45 | G1000May 29, 2010 One of the reasons I don't hate this, by the way, is that I don't feel that it's just about Willow becoming "addicted" to the magic. After her break-up with Tara, she decided to basically do more and more magic to make herself feel better. That led to her going to Rack because of the promise of more power. I don't think she knew exactly what Rack's style of magic was all about at first. So I don't think they shifted the original themes all that much. Of course, at this point the drug stuff starts to go a bit overboard, but still... "Wrecked" | View Comments46 | G1000May 29, 2010 I thought this one was actually not that bad. I agree that some of the drug-related stuff was pretty heavy-handed, but not all of it. And there were some really powerful scenes. It's the worst episode I've seen so far in season 6, but it's far from bad. I'd go with a B-. "Life Serial" | View Comments47 | G1000May 28, 2010 Pretty disappointing episode after the first four, though at times very funny. Spike playing poker for kittens was just great, and Willow's line (and Giles' reaction) was fabulous. I would disagree, though, that it shows how "abrasive" she's become. I didn't get that feeling at all. It was just a throwaway line. "Spiral" | View Comments48 | G1000May 27, 2010 I didn't have a problem with everybody being crammed into Spike's car. Buffy couldn't go get somebody else's without risking being found by Glory, and stealing a car would have risked putting the police on their tail as well. I didn't see much choice. The thing that bugged me was Ben coming to save Giles. Ben has been trying to keep the key away from Glory, so why would he risk being so near it knowing that Glory was going to enter his body? And I kind of like the knights. Loved the horseback chase, too. Really good episode. Far better than a B- in my book. "Tough Love" | View Comments49 | G1000May 26, 2010 I would disagree that Tara getting brain-sucked is somehow Willow's fault, even if she was the one at fault in the argument (which she clearly was). I don't see how this one gets anything less than a P. I thought it was astonishing. The only small complaint: Buffy arriving just in the nick of time to save Willow. This was better than "The Body". And "Fool for Love". I realize I'm in the minority, though. "Intervention" | View Comments50 | G1000May 26, 2010 I didn't catch any "Dawn stealing a necklace" stuff. Did I miss something? I personally loved this hour. I did find her friends' reactions a little bit difficult to believe, but they were so funny I didn't care. And they were just as realistic as Xander putting his fist through a wall. "The Body" | View Comments51 | G1000May 26, 2010 Great episode, apart from two things. Xander putting his fist through a wall: way too overdramatic. And Anya breaking down felt false to me. She barely even knew Joyce. That's enough to prevent this from being quite as good as the very best "Buffy" episodes. But it's pretty close. Everything else is stunning. "Into the Woods" | View Comments52 | G1000May 25, 2010 I'd disagree that both parties were both at fault. None of this can be blamed on Buffy. Riley really turned into a jerk over the last few episodes, and that was problematic for me. I felt it was out-of-character. Also, that last scene was way too melodramatic. Loved Xander and Buffy, though. And Xander and Anya. "Fool for Love" | View Comments53 | G1000May 25, 2010 Superb episode, although I doubt it will wind up in my top ten once I'm done with the entire series. It's currently at #9, and I've still got "The Body", "Once More, with Feeling", and "The Gift" to watch. They've really done a great job developing some of the other characters in the last few episodes: first Tara in "Family", and now Spike. Great stuff. "Family" | View Comments54 | G1000May 25, 2010 I've been waiting for Tara to get more developed, and this episode did the trick. Excellent. Don't see how this gets a B-, truthfully. It was as good as "The Replacement". "No Place Like Home" | View Comments55 | G1000May 24, 2010 Flat-out terrific. Loved this one. Totally agree with the P score. "Becoming Pt. 2" | View Comments56 | G1000May 24, 2010 I just thought of something, and it bugged me. You say that "Becoming: Part Two" is your favorite episode of "Buffy" ever, and that "Buffy" is your favorite show. Therefore, "Becoming: Part Two" is your favorite episode of all-time (of any show). While this may be true, it does not follow logically that it has to be. To prove my point: take two of the best TV comedies of the 21st century so far: "The Office" and "Arrested Development". Now, "Arrested Development" is a far, far better show overall than "The Office" (though I love them both). But does it follow that "Arrested Development's" best episode is better than "The Office's" best? Not necessarily. I think "The Office's" "Dinner Party" is better than anything "Arrested Development" ever did, though the overall picture may tell a different story. I'm just saying that just because it is true in this case, doesn't mean that it HAS to be true (which is what you seem to indicate in your review). Just something I noticed. Overall, it's a terrific review. I really don't know how anyone can write this much and with this much depth about a TV show. "Restless" | View Comments57 | G1000May 24, 2010 What can I say? Unique, stunning, and brilliant. As much as I've loved a lot of the show's other episodes to this point, I'm not sure any of them compare to this. "Primeval" | View Comments58 | G1000May 23, 2010 I, personally, thought this was the best Initiative-related episode. It was terrifically entertaining, though I'll admit the final battle with Adam was a bit anticlimactic. It was much better than "The Yoko Factor". "The Yoko Factor" | View Comments59 | G1000May 23, 2010 Didn't love this one. It was good, but I didn't buy that Spike was able to drive this big of a wedge just by making a few comments. "New Moon Rising" | View Comments60 | G1000May 23, 2010 Excellent episode. Way better than the last two, and the best since "Hush". Loved that final scene. "Where the Wild Things Are" | View Comments61 | G1000May 23, 2010 This episode really isn't all that bad. Giles playing guitar and Anya and Spike's interaction easily elevated this to a better grade than an F. It bugs me a bit that this one got an F, while truly terrible episodes like "Inca Mummy Girl", "The Pack", and "Nightmares" got better grades. Those three are all way worse than this one. In fact, so's "Beer Bad". And "Superstar" for that matter. "Who Are You?" | View Comments62 | G1000May 23, 2010 This one gets a B-plus from me. I've never entirely bought Faith's insanity. However, I liked everything else a lot. The spell Tara and Willow did was beautifully shot. "Doomed" | View Comments63 | G1000May 22, 2010 Sorry, I meant to say B-plus. Why doesn't the plus key work, anyway? "Doomed" | View Comments64 | G1000May 22, 2010 What was so "inept" about this plot? It wasn't particularly interesting, but it wasn't nearly as awful as "Beer Bad" or "The Pack". And the character development made up for it big-time. This one gets a B from me. It's way better than "Pangs", for a start. So far, I'm loving this season. "Pangs" | View Comments66 | G1000May 21, 2010 Didn't like this one that much. It was pretty funny, but not nearly as good as a lot of people seem to think. Spike and Anya were great, though. I much preferred "Fear, Itself" in terms of laughs-per-minute (Giles with a chainsaw: cracks me up every time). "Season 3 Review" | View Comments67 | G1000May 20, 2010 Pretty impressive season. I still get the feeling that I haven't seen the show's best yet, though. I hope I'm right. "The Prom" | View Comments68 | G1000May 19, 2010 Just watched it for the first time. How does this not get a P? Okay, the hellhounds were stupid. But they took up so little time. This was miles better than "The Wish". "Enemies" | View Comments69 | G1000May 19, 2010 I actually think the main "con" plot worked rather well. But I don't buy what has happened to Faith. We're supposed to believe that she's gone from conflicted and troubled to truly evil in one episode? "The Zeppo" | View Comments70 | G1000May 18, 2010 Apparently the plus key doesn't work when commenting. Meant to say B-plus. That should work "The Zeppo" | View Comments72 | G1000May 18, 2010 Funniest episode since "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bedazzled". Liked it a lot. B sounds about right. "Helpless" | View Comments73 | G1000May 18, 2010 Tara, I completely agree. This one absolutely deserves a P rating. It's on par with "Passion", "Innocence", and both parts of "Becoming". And the ending scenes are some of the most terrifying things I've ever seen. Man, I hope this Council guy gets eaten or something. He's a total jerk. "The Wish" | View Comments74 | G1000May 18, 2010 Don't really get the perfect score for this one. It was a less cheesy clone of "Nightmares". It was good, but compared to "Revelations" and "Lover's Walk" it was weak. "Dead Man's Party" | View Comments75 | G1000May 17, 2010 I'd have given this one a C . All the stuff with Buffy and her friends was extremely well-done. I personally didn't feel it was out-of-character at all. I would have liked to have seen Buffy call Xander out for lying to her in "Becoming: Part Two". Surely she's figured that out. Loved Cordelia actually stepping up and defending Buffy. She's become a far more mature and likeable character than she was in season 1. Zombies were awful. If they hadn't shown up, this would have been an A or A- in my book (I don't give perfect scores). "Season 2 Review" | View Comments76 | G1000May 16, 2010 Liked season 2 much better than season 1. Still, a lot more improvement is needed. Tell me, do they ever get rid of the campy MOTW episodes? I really hope so. "Innocence" and "Passion" were great, but they were both followed up by pretty average episodes (although the werewolf one was good since it focused on a major character). Occasionally these types of installments can be really good (see "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered"), but more often they're momentum killers. The arc-driven episodes, on the other hand, are usually amazing ("Innocence", "Passion", both episodes of "Becoming"). I'd give the season as a whole a B. I really don't know how this gets anything higher. There were too many mediocre-to-terrible episodes. I still liked it, though. "Becoming Pt. 2" | View Comments77 | G1000May 16, 2010 Great way to end the season. Why can't every episode be like this one, anyway? "Go Fish" | View Comments78 | G1000May 15, 2010 Mediocre episode. Over-the-top and campy. Not as bad as the worst this show has done, but still not good. Please tell me they cut out the camp in season 3. I love intense episodes like "Passion" and "Innocence", so hopefully they make all of the episodes that dark and compelling from here on out. I would disagree that another "Angel wreaking havoc" episode would be too much, by the way. Take a look at "Battlestar Galactica's" final run. Every single episode got darker and more bleak, and it got even more compelling. I like the humor when it's done well, but a whole episode of Buffy fighting fish-men is just ridiclous. She's supposed to be a vampire slayer! Sorry if this seems like a rant. This is my first viewing of the show, and I see so much potential in it. Episodes like "Passion" are really mind-blowing. Then an episode like this has to come along, and it annoys me so much. "I Only Have Eyes for You" | View Comments79 | G1000May 15, 2010 Apparently I'm the only one not completely over-the-moon about this one. It's good, but nowhere near the quality of "Passion", "Innocence", or even "School Hard". Giles' stubborn refusal to give up on Jenny didn't work for me. The main plot was good, but the locusts and snakes were overkill. Also, while I identified with Buffy and Angel, I just didn't care very much about the teacher and student. Loved Spike at the end. Best part of the episode, easily. "Innocence" | View Comments80 | G1000May 14, 2010 Now I'm starting to get why so many people love this show. What a great episode! "Surprise" was excellent, but this one was just amazing. I'm now officially hooked, I think. "Ted" | View Comments81 | G1000May 14, 2010 "Suprise/Innocence" had better be worth it. This is my first time watching the show, and while there have been a few solid to good episodes ("Angel", "School Hard", "Lie to Me", etc..), there have been even more dreadful ones ("Inca Mummy Girl", "Teacher's Pet", "The Pack", and so on). Keeping my fingers crossed! As for this one, what a dreadful ending after such a great build-up. | |
Nice work. There's some really powerful stuff in this episode, but overall I didn't think it worked very well. Certainly it's not even close to the quality of any of the other season finales.
